Our Blue Crown is in that stage I kinda play fight with him sorta speak and it seems to be working well as far as him not trying to dominate too much . We love him very much he's such a joy
Yeah, I only hear wonderful things about Blue-crowns-- if I had all the space in the world and more help, I would want to have a couple of them. Have you told me his name? Yeap, gotta be the top root-ruler!
Great video! Was nice to watch the birds doing their thing while you were talking..... felt like I was getting to know them while you were describing their evolving relationships. A bit like a colourful, interesting soap opera! I hope Tikko finds a brilliant friend. My kakariki male, Mango, has had another shift in his behaviour now Maude is firmly on her eggs; he's become my indoor hat whenever I walk through the bird room and kitchen. I think he's feeling a bit lonely without her around and chasing the budgies isn't as much fun when there's nobody there to see how brave he is. At first I thought this change was more about him wanting food from me.... but it seems like just having someone to chat and play with is what he's looking for.
It amazes me how very much they have personalities. Yeah, I'm sure Mango is lonely. I had someone ask if I would take their birds, but then they changed their mind. It's probably for the best, but I want Tikko to have a new, bonded friend :( -- and it's not happening so far with Merlin, Blue-head Macaw
Thank youuu for the video ❤ Harry is feeling so special now haha. I come to the conclusion that male Goldens are definitely very territorial. And probably because they live in big flocks and they share parenthood, they don't live in couples for reproduction. Maybe that's why some males tend to be more impositive, nippy and dominant. They aren't afraid to show their intent in the flock. And this hierarchical behavior is very common between males and females of the species. Females tend to be more submissive and males pluck them. Also more afraid of everything. For me they have this social genetic hierarchy to function well as a big flock. But anyways, thanks again for sharing ❤
Yes, there is definitely a hierarchy. So, are you still thinking of getting Harry a friend? You should bring him to my back lanai some time to meet some of my birds to see how he does and who he likes :)
@@ParrotBliss they don’t get along as babies or adults? They won’t have any more available until next breeding season, is that too late to try and put them together?
Yes, I socialize my birds as much as possible. I totally agree with that, the more people and other birds that are socialized with birds the better.
Absolutely - easier to do when we have more than one bird, and so important for them.

@@ParrotBliss oh that would be fun!! 🙂🙂 will send you a direct on Instagram
I have a brown head parrot. I’ve been watching your videos and now I’m considering getting another one, so they can bond.
I would and, the sooner, the better. Senegals don't always get along, make sure the Brown-headed parrots do.

Awwwe, poor Tico, I think maybe your male Golden is jealous, trying to keep other birds from his girl. You will have goldens.
Yeah, my poor Tikko! Fingers crossed!
I tried to text to inquire about those golden babies but the number on your site doesn't work. Is there a better one to contact you? THanks!
It should work... Can you contact me on the FB/Insta messenger? Or you can use the contact form on the site, it will send an email.
