This past summer, I saw BOC for the first time in a decade, it was my 11th time seeing the band...the first being, June 28, 1977, when Todd Rundgren's Utopia opened for BOC, sharing their lazer show with their Egyptian/pyramid themed stage. We had row 3, floor seats, dead center...what a smokin show!!
LOVE Kasim! I had an opportunity to talk with him in 2018 @ Todd Rundgren’s 5 day 70th birthday celebration in Virginia. He spoke to a small group about song lyrics & told some interesting stories - a great sense of humor. He couldn’t be a nicer, more accessible guy. He has (& absolutely deserves) his own following which is clear from audiences at Rundgren concerts.
I just saw Kasim a few weeks ago with Todd Rundgren and it was a great show he did all his hits and the band was great they had Prairie Prince on drums he was with the Tubes. Great show!!
@@jamesmartin6709 Todd Rundgren had the drummer from the Tubes--Prarie Prince. I saw the Tubes before they were famous when they played at High School dances in Phoenix.
Kasim is the real deal! He is an all around, world class musician! I've seen BOC a lot over the decades, and their live show harmony vocals never sounded better than when he was in the band.
This is a fun tribute. When Sarzo was with them they introduced him with snippets of Over the Mountain (Ozzy), Mental Health (Quiet Riot), and something by Whitesnake. After Miranda returned to the band they have introduced him as playing with Queen. Good stuff!
Jesus, what an introduction! Complete with snippets from other bands of Kasim's - actually rehearsed and staged! Wow, they took some time on this! Goes to show how valuable they KNOW Kaz is! Excellent!
Coming from a Kiss fan might explain that conclusion . But the entire band also knew his predecessor's value. What would be the chance they pay Mr. Sulton a lot less as a fill in then they payed Joe Bochard for his musicianship, vocals & history with the band ? Best regards Jon. Cheers ! . PS; Joe Bochard is doing some fine solo works ; ua-cam.com/video/J8swiVmU0Fs/v-deo.html

@@jondunmore4268 Thanks for your kind note Jon. And sorry about the reference to Kiss, but the comment was inspired by your response mentioning Kiss on my original post that you had replied to. (Unlike yourself, I have never had much respect for Kiss & despise their crass commercialism & shallow artistry.) Further, I am not in any way insinuating that Mr. Sulton is not a very fine basest. My contention is purely that there was no need except greed, money & ego to replace Albert & Joe Bochard being original members of Blue Oyster Cult . Best regards Jon , thanks for your note, and sorry about any disagreement here.
I really like Kasim, and that was a great introduction, but why was BOC opening for Deep Purple? It seems like bill should be the other way around. Deep Purple opening for BOC.
Deep Purple should only be opening for BOC because they don't have Lord or Blackmore. If it was Mark II Purple, then no other band could TOUCH them, sir!
he's mostly a session man. for example, he only played on one blackhearts album and two meat loaf albums. however, he has been touring with todd rundgren for 45 years, so you could say he can "hold a job"
I love Kasim since way back, I just dont see how he fits into this band, just like I cant see Paul Mcartney joining Def Leppard. But that's just me. Good luck to Kasim.
That's the stupidest comparison ever. Really, you must drag your knuckles on the pavement and your shirt is wet from drooling constantly. Boc and Utopia are metal and Prog. Fuck off.
I get the feeling that since Utopia, KS is a hired gun. For that reason, he fits in fine and could probably play with anybody because he’s so fuckin talented.
Eric was mistaken on one comment - Kas wasn't the original bassist for Utopia. That would have been John Siegler.

I saw him with Utopia on the Ra tour, fox theater, Atlanta, wa-a-a-ay back when
🌈
So lucky...
Kasim is an underappreciated musician!
Utopia was the best band he ever played with.
Agree
Love that improv. Totally sick!
Saw him last night with Todd Rundgren. He looks like he could be 20 years younger than his age.
He is the quantum Avenger version of rock and roll.
I just saw Kasim a few weeks ago with Todd Rundgren and it was a great show he did all his hits and the band was great they had Prairie Prince on drums he was with the Tubes. Great show!!
Also Greg Hawkes from The Cars as well as Jesse Gress on guitar.

I also saw Kasim with Blue Oyster Cult on the Rock Legends cruise 2015 and he did a great job.
Jules looks like he could give a shit about anything until he and Kasim start lightin' it up.
Loved his work with Meat Loaf
Kasim is awesome.
Of all Todd Rundgren songs.. THAT ONE :( .
Yah right...... Pop fluff. Utopia was out there....how about something representative of that bands greatness? What's next ? Hello it's me?
Yeah, I thought that too, but they probably wanted to play something the crowd would be familiar with.
Saw Kasim with the band last night, they were awesome and he fits in seemlessly

Kasim you effin rock, man!
Hi, Kasim! from Japan.
Why did Kasim leave BOC? They were so good together!
I think it was because it conflicted with the latest Todd tour.
BOC has always been a great cover band
Top Bass Player !!
i have met a few times now.. the most recent was at Todd Rundgren at Daryl's house..
Kaz, funkin' it UP!

They did the same thing when Rudy Sarzo was in the band.

@@cecmidwest1581 It was a joke. Yes I am aware of his long career with Todd have been aware for decades.
Bring back Joe!!
The best bass player ever
He's no Joe Bouchard, but he's definitely better than Miranda.

He fits, or did fit, just fine. BOC is a straight ahead style rock and roll band, much like the style of Bass playing Kasim offers.
That's the stupidest comparison ever. Really, you must drag your knuckles on the pavement and your shirt is wet from drooling constantly.

Sad that they used Todd Rundgren's worst song ever as the sample of his work.
The question is can Kasim play Cowbell? 😂
The bass is such a focal part of that song.
