Please watch the interview of Jessica Buchanan, she goes into a lot more detail about what she experienced and the details of her rescue Edit: also watch Popo medic’s video on this mission as it gives a lot more detail, the video you watched is way over dramatised
I was thinking the same thing, this wasn’t the best video to choose, honestly it annoys me that the creator of the video didn’t include her actually telling the story.
Like the other guy said the rescue of Jessica Buchanan 60 minutes do that video. It’s her interview about what happened and they were kept outside under a couple trees. It shows the actual camp that was taken by the seals. Jessica by the way, went on to speak and raise money for the spouses and children of the seals that are lost for scholarships, etc. Pretty good person
I'm not special forces by any means, but as a paratrooper we learned with all the rules of safety but in the case like this of a hostage you go, no questions.
The US sent a message when they sent the SEALS. They did try to negotiate but that broke down quickly. The Americans and captors kept them outside and took their shoes so they couldn't run. Dehydration, malnutrition, and living in a dirty desert would have caused her UTI. When they were rescued, the SEALS had nothing to hide nearby when they arrived, since they were rescusing outdoors. They did give Jessica and Paul triangle folded flags and welcomed them in the helicopter. SEALS had a doc with them and they were able to begin medical care in the helo. Today, Jessica is a teacher and she tells her story when able. She does this to thank her rescueres. She also wrote a book about her experience.
theirs a actual video to watch about Jessica Buchanan n she the 1 that tells the story from her perspective the guy speaking in this video adds things that wasn't said for example he says "we are seal team 6 " yea they never told her she finds out after wards that she was saved by seal team but not from them
Yeah in the 60 minutes interview she said all they said was "We're from the U.S. military"🤦🏼♂️ But it actually was Red Squadron from Devgru after it was declassified.
MY limited understanding is, aside from sounding cringe to say irl , wouldn't they not say that because technically SEAL Team 6 ISN'T called SEAL Team 6? Like their actual name is something else and that's just what "we" all call them. Or something like that, I can't remember the details, I just remember hearing that technically SEAL Team 6 doesn't exist, and I don't think its in a secret agent "this special unit doesn't officially exist on the records" type of thing, but like, legitimately.
I think I could see it, if mostly to calm and reassure her. Her cooperation requires a level of trust. Not saying she would have panicked and run otherwise, but I think I get why he would say that to begin with. The voice the narrator uses is beyond cheesy, though.
The only thing I've heard about PJs is they're the best friends you could ever have. They are who the Special Forces call when they're in trouble. That's what a Green Beret told me at least :P
You know, I’m suddenly reminded of a B movie called #AttackOnDarfur . It looks like one of the few attempts to bring attention to the previous conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan, which suffered a genocide in the first decade of the new millennium. They try to give a bit of motivation to the villain with his monologue, but I’m not sure how effective it is. Honestly, I really would like you to react to that movie. I know that you don’t really do movie reactions on this channel, but I would appreciate it if you made an exception for that movie.
The rotating water cannons are designed to push a person attempting to scale a vessel into the sea. The water canons that project a unidirectional spray are designed to fill a small vessel with water fast enough to sink it before the crew can take measures.
On Dec. 25, 2021, Cmdr. Richard Marcinko passed away peacefully at home. He was 81 years old. Marcinko had a storied career in the Navy. Most notably, he was the founder and godfather of the Navy’s most elite special operations unit, SEAL Team Six. He wrote six or eight books about some of their exploits. You can still find them and enjoy them. This original team called SEAL Team Six could never be duplicated in today's Navy. Dick Marcinko was a rouge that had special requirements and rules, you followed them, or you wouldn't be there on his team! They were killers and experts of the highest order!
i saw the original 60 minutes story. much better than this cheezy version. For one thing Jessica is telling the story from her point of view, much more believable , much more credible.
A channel you might be interested in is Kings and General. They do great historical videos that show the troop movements on the map that breaks the battle down. They also have a mythological channel that covers fantasy battles like lord of the rings
Love the vids. Your comments are hilarious. You should check out Sean Ryan's interview of DJ Shipley. It's a new level of a peek inside of Seal team Six
Yeah, this one is a bit cheesy and unnecessarily embellished. You should really watch the full length "60 Minutes" interview with Jessica Buchanan to get a different perspective on it. I think it would help answer some of the questions you asked throughout this one.
You need to react to the USAF PJ’s they have the longest and hardest training in the entire military (2yrs long and a 90% drop out rate) the training pipeline is nicknamed “Superman School” and their Motto is “ So that others may live”. They’re basically Combat Medics turned up to 11 and then given some crack.
interesting fact (i think, i am dumb sometimes) about Khat, is that im pretty sure its one of the main reasons the FN SCAR exists. when US forces were fighting their way out of Mogadishu in 1993, the local fighters were so amped up on the stuff that there were accounts of fighters not even being aware that they were getting mag dumped by 5.56 until a vital organ was hit, they just kept running and shooting. so US spec ops wanted a gun that they could use in a variety of situations like the CAR-15s they were running with, but had enough ass behind it that even Khat wouldnt keep them standing. FN said hold my schnapps and rolled that baddie out.
Yes, seal team six handed her an American flag on board the flight home and said that to her. She actually recounted the events. SO BELIEVE IT HAPPENDED OR NOT BUT THESE GUYS ARE JUST MISSING THEIR CAPS. Hero's live among us everywhere in this world and we can only thank them for their selfless service and their commitment to keeping all of us safe.
The flag part was real, the whole ‘we are SEAL team 6’ part didn’t happen. They pretty much only told her they were with the American military, if I remember right. They may have said they were SEALs, but Sheffield never said that cheesy line
Also, I agree. It is storytelling isn’t it? The 1 foot in front of another there’s a couple corny spots in this, but it’s just some guy on UA-cam telling the story and Shetfield is retired and wrote the book that most of these videos are based off of IE his face being the one that’s not blurred out as he’s not active duty anymore.
I'd highly recommend the channel Jeremiah. He covers some astonishing true military stories, including medal of honor recipients and the time that - I believe 4 army rangers - stood their ground against gang members in America because the cops wouldn't assist them with dealing with it.
A lot of the quotes are pretty close to what was said and you can hear it from Jessica’s mouth in her 60 Minutes interview of this rescue mission. I think the narrator just over dramatized without adding the necessary context when he made this video. The voices he makes while trying to quote sound really cheesy. I would recommend watching the 60 minutes interview with Jessica like everyone else is also recommending. Love your videos, cheers!🍻
You had several questions about certain things that happen during the rescue. You should check out her own telling of the story with the 60 minutes video - The rescue of jessica buchanan
There were no buildings, no rooms, no walls at the bandit camp. They were 100% outdoors, out in the open, and had been the whole time, except perhaps within a clump of trees when they camped. The SEALS approach was over open, flat ground, zero cover, and zero concealment aside from the darkness.
Wow, there are some really rude comments on this thread. Yes, the video was cheesy in several places, but it wasn’t your fault, Luke. You were just doing a blind reaction to a cool story. Yes, the 60 Minutes interview was the best version, and now you know. Great reaction as usual, thanks Luke! Cheers from Texas! 🍻🍺 VERY cool mug!
The thing with Seal Team 6 is that it is not uncommon for people to die trying to complete their training. If you are not on the same side as them, you're cooked. Not much you can put them through that they haven't already survived.
They were in the dessert under a tree it was very open terrain I’m sure there was probably some trucks and tents but not buildings it was open terrain for the most part and as far as how they advanced to the position it’s said they constantly changed which way they moved in depending on how the wind was blowing
@RussetPotato Dev Gru does lots of things, especially when they get loaned out to OGAs, they are not just specialized hostage. There are a couple of Seal Teams that specialize in hostage as well. DevGru does a whole lot of thing.
you should listen to andy stumpfs podcast with her in your own time, he was one of the seals on the mission and they both talk about their sides of it all
If America began paying kidnappers it would become open season on Americans. In the State of California prison system there is no such thing as a hostage. They will not let a prisoner go free just because they have a hostage. Everyone that enters a California prison must understand this. My dad retired from San Quentin State Prison. We were always afraid of bad news. At least when he was a military police officer for 22 years most of the people that he interacted with have never even been arrested. When my dad was working at The Big Q it was still a maximum security prison, with death row inmates waiting to be executed in the gas chamber. He had to interact with many men with absolutely nothing to loose or look forward to. He treated the men fairly, and when he retired a prisoner made him a card which all of the prisoners in his work area signed.
Part of the reason they split is to encircle the threat. Also there is a story where they said the pirates were feet away from them but could not see the SEaLS. It was a wonderful rescue. Next time though leave. Our operators should not be sent to fetch you when you should put your safety above needing to teach a class.
Do they realize how many special operators are in Djibouti, when I went through there there all kinds of American spec ops and even some SAS and other governments special forces their running operations into Yemen.
Funny enough a fan of Brandon Herrera from a tribe in Africa sent him a video of him shoot a Machine gun, i believe it was a PKM, into a nearby village. He said it was common there and apparently those villages had beef over a goat 🐐. Apparently they made peace soon after that incident.
I really hope you react to the 60 minutes interview with Jessica. It's better than this one and the first person point of view is terrifying. They did hand her a flag and according to her they did say "welcome home".
Well you lot have said everything I was going to say. Definitely do the 60 minutes interview. New subscriber here, born in Norwich, I married an American guy and am American now.. LOL just opposite of your situation... P.S. I still eat beans on toast, drink PG Tips and always have Marmite on hand!
Kinda IIRC it was originally a rescue of Americans from and advancing hostile force then became a escort leading a whole village of refugees to a safety. Not a job spec ops is particularly suited to. In a situation like that spec ops is really nothing more than well trained light infantry.
When she was taken it was for 93 days they spent that entire time in the desert never once were they in a building. This was part of the problem because the infection she had was due to not having clean water or toilet paper. There r other accounts in the form of a 60 min interview and various podcasts. As for the story u just heard yes it was a little cheesy.
If I may recommend the interview with her, 60 minutes: ua-cam.com/video/qSqMjK85tfc/v-deo.html breaks it down remarkably. So much missed in this piece. In fact just finished watching this piece, it ehh... is a story. Didn't need any fluffing. Hope ya feel better =)
Please watch the interview of Jessica Buchanan, she goes into a lot more detail about what she experienced and the details of her rescue
Edit: also watch Popo medic’s video on this mission as it gives a lot more detail, the video you watched is way over dramatised
I like the 60 Minutes video on this story WAY better
Hearing her tell the story of how it all went down is wild.
@@vampiro4236 her voice is just so soft and fragile. You could feel the pain in her voice.
I literally came to the comment section to say the same thing.
That's because this is a AI video, or at least AI voiceover
I was thinking the same thing, this wasn’t the best video to choose, honestly it annoys me that the creator of the video didn’t include her actually telling the story.
watch the 60 mins version, she tells her own story
The channel Liveth For Evermore also does a video that goes into the details of the operation. Its an excellent war documentary style video.
Like the other guy said the rescue of Jessica Buchanan 60 minutes do that video. It’s her interview about what happened and they were kept outside under a couple trees. The best video is the one with the interview with Jessica Buchanan And much more accurate
Yeah I don’t know what the fuck they were going on about in this video
There's no best, the interview is her side of the story, this one was a different side, it's worth watching both.
@@darkceptor44 Nah this video was shit they just over dramatised the entire situation and made it super cheesy. Popo medic’s video is way better

According to Jessica, for her that flag was a moment she will never forget. The 60 Minutes story is told from her perspective and is the superior one
Nairobi is where 22SAS operator Christian Craighead went in and rescued all those hostages in the Hotel. Funny how that happens
10:30 The important thing to note is that she was in captivity for months. The training for the rescue op was conducted over a few weeks.
Im loving your channel man, i like that you have a military perspective on these videos. Keep up the great work.
They 100% gave her a flag exactly like that. They do that for all American citizens.

Jessica's own words confirm the folded flag story.
