@DarthTingleBinks UK version was good, but it's UK humour, from 20+ years back, talking about dated references which US public won't catch (like Ali G, Jonny Vegas). I love the UK version but it's too sobering. It leans more toward drama by season 2 than comedy. It's a pristine piece of TV but not entertaining like the US version.
I think Cameron Monaghan(from shameless) would’ve made the perfect younger Dexter. His eyes, his eyebrows and the upper bridge of his nose has that wrinkle is just like Michael C. Hall. Still, I’m going to watch the season. Love the first episode, but I’m having a hard time with the Debra Morgan actress. The only resemblance she has with Jennifer Carpenter is the ears. Their eye color isn’t the same either.
not only Deb...I watched 3/4 of the episode until it dawned on me that when it comes to the characters I haven't felt a shred of disbelief in need of suspending. I had already fully accepted them as their younger versions without thinking about it. And this Dexter and Deb, at this age, are both easily an improvement over the measely attempt of "de-aging" Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter that we got in the original series.
I still think Deb should have been more of a Tomboy and have a different fashion sense, but she definitely has got down the spirit of Deb. Also she's a teen maybe she's trying to fit in too much with her fashion.
But I thought in Dexter harry kept dex because of the affair with Dexters mother. And he felt guilty because she died in his case ? And we never heard of this other son in Dexter ??

From my point of view, I didn't expect to see perfect imitations of our main characters....That said, It's budget, clearly. And they are currently prioritizing set dressing. But the lead definitely strikes me as a young Dexter. Masuka and Angel are great casting choices, especially the latter. Looks so much like him. Christian Slater was great as Harry, probably my favorite!! Deb is a good choice and it's clear the actress studied Jennifer's mannerisms and inflection. She definitely got Deb's essence of constant swearing and her annoying emotional tantrums down. I implore people: watch the original run, then watch episode 1 of this again. You'll see it..This Deb reminded me of the originl Deb from season 1. I swear nobody hates Dexter quite like many Dexter fans. Take these things for what they are: expansions on previously quick flashbacks (to get the ball rolling; surely that's not the entire show). I couldn't stand Debra's constant F bombs especially on a job where the male cops didn't even talk like that. I actually enjoyed seeing her body go into the ocean!
She's _probably_ my favourite character from the original show but Deb has a kind of nervy abrasiveness that I could understand some people finding off-putting. The prequel actor does pretty well at capturing that element IMO (we'll see if she can manage Jennifer Carpenter's sort of brittle vulnerability too).
I think the actress nailed Deb’s mannerisms and voice inflections. I feel like people will just say “Oh, it’s just a girl swearing and that is supposed to be Deb, they did a bad job” but her line delivery and physical acting were subtle and so faithful to Jennifer Carpenter’s portrayal.
So far I’m liking the show, Dexter is my favorite show of all time so when i heard they were making this I was like “why are they doing this? We’ve seen his origin and first kill already.” but so far so good. The actor playing young Dexter is doing a good job so far.
Debra Morgan in *Dexter* is really impulsive, super loyal, and pretty determined. You can see how much she craves love, especially from her brother Dexter, and that really drives a lot of what she does in the show.
With New Blood and now Original Sin directly connecting to, it makes me feel that this may only be a one season thing, as Dexter Resurrection will debut next year. I can't see Showtime/Paramount Plus running 2 Dexter series simultaneously, but I do love more Dexter. Who knows. Very excited for more of Original Sin. I quite enjoyed it.
@SamuelCulper-h6s what I meant to say was Network, also, chill out man. Never owned a maga hat. You might need a therapist tho. You get angry real quick.
Anytime I see Sarah Michelle Gellar, all I see is Daphne from the Scooby-Doo movies and she's my favorite Daphne. Everyone on TikTok is being too rough on this pilot episode, saying it's too goofy, but people have to remember Dexter has always been a little goofy, especially when he had the Mickey Mouse hat on in S5 lol.
Yep, us older folks will always see Buffy... Look up Mystery Incorporated channel on here and check out what these guys did with their re imagining of Scooby Doo. They put out 1 episode on YT and it's really good, iconic characters we all know and loved as kids...but more modern. They were trying to crowd fund episode 2 and I guess it never happened...but they did a seriously solid job.
If i could say one thing to everyone hating on it, or unsure of it - This is a flash of dexters life within his own mind while hes struggling to stay alive.. try to remember details about your 17th birthday when youre in your 40s and it will be a little goofy, over the top, exaggerated, and even comical at times.. this is a glimpse of the past through his memories to prepare us for the Resurrection series next summer. Its amazing that we get ANY new dexter at all, and its actually really entertaining so far! At times i feel like he nails dexter and his voice even hits properly etc, harry is decent and growing on me, just wish he spoke a little deeper at times. Deb by the end was believable, i just wish they got Batistas son to play him, since he would be about the right age and hes an actor! Great job so far!
After watching the first episode right before watching this video. I can definitely say it was a solid first episode. I think some parts like Masukas use and Deb may need more time to feel natural. But I think young Dexter and Harry are solid and the chemistry is there. And the story is solid right now.
Molly Brown is Jennifer Carpenter reincarnated, Patrick Gibson giving me Michael C. Hall vibes, Christian Slater's like meant to play the role of James Remar.. Alex Shimizu is doing a great job alos.. everyone is perfect for this
I'd give the first episode a strong 7.8/10. The cast is very good and I liked the story they chose to start off with. At times there did feel like some fored over acting especially by Masuka. The classic music and traditional voice over helped out a lot. Overall i enjoyed being back in this universe
I liked this first episode. I hope they remain true to canon and tell a good story here. I'm rooting for this series, we need it to be good. But I'm even more scared for Resurrection, I hope this time they make it right and give Dexter a good ending.
You also have to remember that Deb is a teenager in this. It was very intentional that she overreacts bc for teenagers high school feels high stakes. She's not the person she grows into yet. Shes a party girl at this time.
I'm most interested in Harry's character. The motivation we got for teaching Dexter was him feeling responsible for Luara Moser and his spiraling frustrations with the justice system. Adding the loss of a child makes his choices that much more empathetic. I'll bet we even get a young Dr. Vogel counseling Harry.
Harry always told Dexter that the most important rule was not getting caught, which always felt weird that he prioritized that over protecting the innocent. I think seeing that Harry lost a child actually adds up, as it explains why he always prioritized Dexter's survival over anything else, even showing Dexter an execution to make him understand.
@@t_r_a_y_e9858 Harry didn't lose a child in original show and Harry's only reason for grabbing Dexter was setting Dexter's mother up for her slaughter by ignoring her concerns that things were getting too dangerous for her. If we want to invent things, Harry could have intentionally had her killed because she was his lover and it was uncomfortable for him to have Laura Moser alive while he was a married man. Also, Harry had no reason not to grab Brian and take him home. Brian was also a child and there was no indication that anything was off with Brian anymore than it was with Dexter. Harry could have controlled Brian's urges too and saved countless victims from the Ice Truck Killer including the near murder of his own daughter.
I think Sarah Michelle Gellar knows Dexter's secret because the way she looked at him doorstep when they offered in the job maybe Harry talked to her about some of his behaviors
i think the main issue with deb is she has it together a lot more when we meet her, shes a teen girl here so i dont expect her to even be a fully good person at first i see her growing alot more and maturing after harry death, she was pretty serious about everything in the hospital
Definitely agree with you two on all points. I got serious "you're goin on the table, Tanya" vibes as well. This is like Bates Motel & Freddie Highmore taking on Psycho & Anthony Perkins...and they put their flavor on it and it worked. In fact, when Bates Motel ended and they were promoting The Good Doctor, I was convinced there's no way I'm not going to be constantly seeing Norman working in the hospital like the angel of death lol. Now, after The Good Doctor, he did such an amazing job I didn't think about Norman Bates beyond the first episode, minus Freddie's normally chill acting style all around. But when I heard Patrick Gibson would be playing Dexter, I was like.....are they high? Because I will forever associate Patrick Gibson as Steve from The OA. It's the first thing I ever saw him in, he was an iconic character in those 2 seasons, and even for this one before it aired I posted about they need to do a bottle episode with all the OA cast...that's how much I associated him with The OA's Steve. I couldn't even finish Shadow And Bone because it was so jarring hearing his accent and Steve doesn't have one lol. But I immediately attached to him as young Dexter and thought he did a phenomenal job. He was comfortable and evocative of Dexter's nuances and tones and inflections. I wasn't even thinking about Steve except briefly with the haircut. All in all, even with Deb feeling a little wound too tightly for such a hard role, I think they did fantastic with the casting. I also wasn't sure about Christian being Harry. I mean why not bring back James Remar and do some AI CGI de aging. But I'm a huge Christian Slater fan girl so I got on board with all of it. I'm all in and excited for this show as its own thing.
After the last few seasons of Dexter and just thinking New Blood was ok. This is the best surprise in a longtime. I love Christian Slater so I'm biased, but I really think he carries the scenes. I think Patrick Gibson is doing a really good job. The writing is flawless. Some of the scenes can be a little campy. But through three episodes I would give it a solid A. Hoping this prequel gets 3 or 4 seasons. I think there is a lot to tell They could run the 1990s decade here.
The only problem I have is Harry’s son drowning. I mean Wouldn’t Dexter have found this out while looking into Harry’s story? Or just in general heard about it from other people. N didn’t harry keep Dexter because of the afiar with dex mother??
It’s too early. Assume that more will come from the drowning; otherwise, why show it? Yes, the affair (not afair) and losing his son lead us to see why Harry kept Dexter.
@@SamuelCulper-h6s I don't agree that it's too early. It's too late to invent a kid who drowned which will somehow negate the plausible storyline that Harry's C.I and lover was murdered because Harry assured her she would be safe. If they can explain why Harry left little Brian at the crime scene even though he was also Laura Moser's son and there was no indication that Brian would grow up to be a serial killer, I could go along with that storyline even highlighting the fact that Debra was almost killed by Brian because Harry didn't take him in and channel his urges. Thus the Ice Truck Killer would never have met Debra in a romantic capacity and nearly killed her because he would have been raised as her brother the same way Dexter was.
I was rather sceptical with the choice for Deb just because she is such a prominent character within the series and was hands down my favourite character in the original, her and Vince but I honestly think Molly Brown nailed Deb granted Deb does have a lot of layers as a character so it's going to be hard to completely nail her and also Jennifer Carpenter is in a league of her own when It comes to that performance but I really like the way Molly brought her own sort of twist to Deb's character and I think that is so important especially with a character as legendary as Deb within the franchise and then there's Dexter and honestly I think Patrick Gibson has done a incredible job of capturing that character so far and then there's Vince, though we are yet to see much from him he is just a legend of the show so I really hope they do right by him
I fanfic that opening scene in my mind after that last ending. I kept imagining him waking up in the hospital handcuffed to the bed and Batista next to him. It would be a very interesting conversation between the two.
Yeah, Dexter could have easily got out of that situation, instead he had to kill a cop who was also his friend and then his son shoots him, I hate that ending more than S8's ending.
It did NOT ruin it. NOTHING was worse than S8 end in isolation. If resurrection wasn’t happening, he had to die to pay for it and it was good and fitting end. Idk what some of you complainers want lol.
Dexter Morgan isn’t dead after all and I'm so happy. They can recreate Dexter's early life all they want but seeing Michael C. Hall as original Dexter and knowing that "Dexter: Resurrection" is coming soon gives me hope to go on living. Well, you know...
I love this first episode. Yes, I'm a dedicated fan. His narration on what he's thinking is the main reason for how I became a fan. I'm glad the original voice is there. The new crew don't stink at their part. Hopefully this thrives. 👌
I'm with your wife in my Dexter Fandom. If it has Dexter and Michael involved I'm watching regardless I don't care if its goofy or unbelievable I'm still gonna watch. I would say this episode was promising. Also it gives me more motivation to watch New Blood again because how it ended I couldn't watch it again ,now I know he survived I think I can bear seeing Harrisons face again. I liked New Blood a lot until the last 30 minutes of the Finale.
We live in Raleigh NC and Michael C. Hall is a native son. It was sad to read that the reason his marriage to Jennifer Carpenter failed was because he feared that because both he and his father had cancer, Michael feared passing some kind of cancer gene down to any children he would have and she wanted a family.
6:00 made me smile as Dexter in the original series had the alias Patrick Bateman when he ordered the tranquilizers and he smiled at the thought of his American Psycho book.
I think the one point you are missing on Deb is that you're trying to hard to see the adult and more troubled Deb we know from the OG show. This Deb is still a teenager a 17 year old High School student who is still developing and going through stages of the neglect from her Father so this Deb is not the other Deb yet, she has to grow into that. This young Deb is not the Detective Deb. So I think your just a little to harsh of this characterization. I think over time we will see more of the older Deb, its the first episode and you can't judge it as a whole on one episode.
Exactly. I had said in a previous comment that this teenage Deb reminded me so much of Debra from season 1 of the original show when she was less mature and insecure
@@sandpiperr Doesn't make her any less annoying. I thought JC's Deb was annoying as heck, but loved JC. This actress is okay but not really very emotive. Just a F bomb factory. That reduces everything that Deb became to just a cussword. She was a lot more than that regardless of how I felt. This girl teenager or not was ANNOYING.
@@jbjacobs9514 Debra Morgan was a beloved character. I don't know why you thought I'd be interested in your pearl clutching about swearing! You realize you're watching a show about a serial killer, right?
Don't know if you guys already know but ANOTHER Dexter series has been announced called Dexter: Ressurection with Michael C. Hall returning! Probably a sequel to New Blood.
@@TimothyMills77 I’m definitely going to give it a shot but ever since I watched the final season of game of thrones, I’ve hated how shows don’t stick landings sometimes 🤣. Really soured my enjoyment. Although, the show could be amazing even with the ending sucking
@@DunkaccinoJoe very true and I totally agree with that! But, the thing is, I think whenever I rewatch a show that doesn’t stick the landing (especially game of thrones) , I just enjoy it a lot less because of how disappointing it leads up to the ending. But like I still really enjoy shows that I absolutely loved that don’t stick the landing even if I didn’t enjoy it originally as much.
Always have loved this show. Couldn’t wait to watch this and thank you for your reaction. Love Sarah Michelle Gellar. MCH narration. Always love Deb. Agreed needs some humor. Hope they delve more into things. Can’t wait for resurrection. I enjoyed it. So glad it’s still on
Whoever was responsible for the casting did hauntingly good job. Masuka is unrecognisable from his older self, same for Deb and Batista. I need some getting use to Dexter. We'll see! Very good pilot.
It took a little bit to win me over but by the time the story played out i really enjoyed it. I like how they connected it to the flashbacks and even added to some of the lore with Harry's first son. I've seen the actor who plays young dexter in netflix's the OA and hes a great actor. By the end of the episode I think they pulled it off well and I'm excited to see the season play out
I was pleased with OS. It had the OG feel. I loved the symbolism of Deb wearing the dead nurses earrings at Dex’s graduation. They completely hung Deb’s fate on Molly Brown’s ears.
Dexter would never watch Wrestlemania. Fake violence with no blood? Not Dexter. As for Deb, you need to remember that she is a teen in high-school, not a cop we saw in the original show.
He's still looking for what he's missing - I could see him watching as a kid. (and the Deb actress was good IMO, by the second half she was really coming through)
@@anonymes2884 she was good imo too, i'm just telling people she is not the same Deb from the original. Not yet at least, she is only a teenager. This is like 15 years before the original.
Thank you guy's for this.....Jen saying how she'd get rid of the dead body......heeeeeeeeeeeeellllp,let us pray for holden😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🎵 Holden and Jen,sittin' in the tree------ Holden in the water, him and crocodile k-i-ss-i-in -g🎵
I know this is off topic but I just watched 'Heretic' the other day and I was hoping to get Holden's opinion cuz every time he speaks about religion, I listen.
With dexter being very closed and cold and not fully remembering his mother I like to think the shows flashbacks are a little misconstrued hence the differences in original sin we are seeing pure brain near death memories, there's no details missed or forgotten.
@ ehhh i feel like it would’ve been strange seeing harry older in original sin than he was in the OG show, especially with the flashbacks we’ve already gotten of him
The thing I found weird is that they didn't even have Dexter's girlfriend in the front seat driving him in the scene she's the one that took him to the hospital
I thought it was a very intriguing episode 1. I'm all in on it. I also think that these characters who were adult "polished" characters in the original are not coming off in the same way because they are younger and have yet to go through those experiences that made them who they become in the original series. I hope they show the experiences in the show. That's my opinion on it anyway
I gotta agree with Holden, I don't really like the casting of Christian Slater. I'm not sure if it's the look, the voice, or both, but he just doesn't feel like a younger version of Harry. Especially because all we ever really saw of Harry was flashbacks, and he always looked the same. I get you can't realistically do the same actor (for all I know, he might be dead), but Christian Slater doesn't fit. Everyone else, though, was pretty good casting. They either look enough like the old actors, nail the performances, or both.
Now I remember what put me off Dexter when I tried starting it.. It was Debra. She was way too brash, aggressive and loud for whatever scene she was in. Not to mention I legit found the amount of swearing she does so offputting, to the point I was actively skipping ahead of every scene she was in. I managed that for 4-5 episodes I think, then I just couldn't anymore. Couldn't immerse myself in the story or get lost in episodes when every time she appeared on screen I was jarred out of it :/
So happy you guys are doing this and wish ya’ll did New Blood when it happened and now have hope for you to doResurrection next summer. Dex gets numbers. I’d even watch your 100th if yall did that 🤣
It was surprisingly good. Patrick Dempsey is way better than I thought. I think Christian Slaters performance is too high intensity for Harry. I view Harry as a calm and serious person. But I'm glad we got this show!!
Based on episode 1 I'm giving it a 7- out of 10. Small nitpicking on the story, but feels like it's going in a good direction. Still need the casting to grow on me. To be honest, i didn't like Deb in the beginning of the original show. But she grew on me late season 2 / early season 3. Hopefully when we're halfway through the series, the casting is starting to merge more into their characters. I'm optimistic, but not sold just yet.
No esperaba nada de esta serie, de hecho hasta hubiera preferido una precuela de otros personajes como brian moser, pero que equivocado estuve sinceramente cumple la serie es muy buena el primer capítulo. Definitivamente tiene mucho potencial
A relieving and surprising win. Seems most Dexter fans are enjoying it, course there are always gonna be the really critical fans . I gave it a 8/10. There are some minor issues that I can easily overlook. But i really enjoyed it, it definitely feels like Dexter, because it is 😈💉🩸Be careful with spoilers.
Post reaction reply: it started off a little shaky this ep for me and wasn’t sure myself but as it went in i connected with it a bit more the acting and seeing expounded aspects and scenes of what we didn’t see and or retcons. Patrick has a Dex esque bout him and nails some lines in MCH way and definitely believable. Angel. Masuka same - to less extents in a way. Wonder where Matthew’s is? He was heavily involved. Seems Dempsey had taken that role? And thought Angel knew Dexter? If he and Harry were close. Debra became my favorite character later on she’s a powerhouse and i think Molly did well and has potential with her ranges of emotions , but we hardly saw any of Deb’s side of in flashbacks in regular series so she’s gonna be bit different young maybe not seeking the love yet more acting out and with Harry alive
I actually think it makes sense for Deb to be meaner and more 1 sided here, she's a teenager and probably hasn't developed the emotional maturity for her to be multidimensional like she was in the original series. It does feel like she's over-acting the part, but then again so did Jennifer lol.
I really liked this episode, much more than I thought I would. After the gigantic letdown of New Blood, I was onboard for this but not expecting much. I thought Dexter's portrayal was a lot better than I could have thought. Having MCH there as the inner voice of The Dark Passenger saves it all though. If all I get of him is this, I might be able to stomach that. As long as I get something of him. That was my absolute favorite part of the original show - MCH is a treasure and his humor is fantastic and so dark. The later seasons of Dexter failed because they kind of moved away from that almost lighthearted aspect of the show and made Deb and the pursuit too uninteresting. Harrison ruined New Blood for me, so I hope they rectify that with Resurrection. I look forward to more of Angel and then LaGuerta. I am not sold yet on Masuka, but we'll see. He was so much more than that creepy, goofy laugh. Deb is just reduced to the F word. Truth be told, while I love Jennifer Carpenter, I was never really much of a Deb fan. In the beginning she had potential but her schtick got old after awhile. This younger version is even more annoying. Her acting is pedestrian but the character herself is just not anything but throwaway to me. SMG and PD are also not at all interesting to me. I would much rather have LaGuerta, Angel, and ESPECIALLY Doakes. If we don't get Doakes, this isn't Dexter! Gosh, in my booklong story here, I forgot the most important part - I am torn on Slater as Harry. I think he was much more subdued and that was such a good thing. I think following James Remar is NOT easy. I wish he could be there, even if just to be an inner voice or something. I hated that Deb was Dex's inner voice in New Blood. She was awful! Harry was fantastic, and I think Slater is trying his best. At least he isn't playing Slater trying to be Jack Nicholson trying to be someone else. LOL
I haven't watched the original show in a few years so some things are foggy, but I am optimistic. There were some scenes, like at the end when Dexter twirls around in the chair that for a second it looks like Michael . C Hall. But I'm with Holden, the weakest character was Harry. Maybe its just the episode or something but I expect a far better performane from Slater.
This episode felt very rushed and like they wanted to get the intro episode over with. I hope they slow the story a little bit down from here on. In that scene in the hospital where Dexter is eating, Debs reaction was perfect though.
In the first series of Dexter, Masuka laughs when he makes a joke about something related to sex. However, in this series, it seems he laughs for no real reason. Maybe this old jokes are no longer compatible with our era...
This Deb I don’t love her yet either lol she was more annoying than anything. I hope she grows on me like the original Deb did. I felt the same way about the cosplay feel in the beginning but Im hoping it’s just something we will get used to. Other than that I’m still looking forward to the rest of the season.
For me deb was throwing me off with mimicing but after that hospital scene I am confident. Dexter is good. Musuka with limted time was okaies. morgan was meh. He has to improve. Otherwise a solid episode. Eager to watch the next.

@@ChipCrisper CBS isn’t a cable channel; meanwhile, Showtime is! I’m guessing you own a MAGA hat. What a tool!
@SamuelCulper-h6s what I meant to say was Network, also, chill out man. Never owned a maga hat. You might need a therapist tho. You get angry real quick.
@ Nothing angers me more than morons not knowing wtf they’re talking about.
TikTok is a hotbed of nitwits with short attention spans. So if it's trashed on there, OS is a bona fide masterpiece already.
@tutorialslave lol
Buffy
She will always be the slayer in my eyes.
Alex Shimizu is doing a great job alos.. everyone is perfect for this
I quite liked the first episode hopefully it continues in the right direction.
@@seanjohn1742 I hope it does
I'd give the first episode a strong 7.8/10. The cast is very good and I liked the story they chose to start off with. At times there did feel like some fored over acting especially by Masuka. The classic music and traditional voice over helped out a lot. Overall i enjoyed being back in this universe
Dexter Resurrection starts shooting January
Please. NO HARRISON.
I liked this first episode. I hope they remain true to canon and tell a good story here. I'm rooting for this series, we need it to be good.
But I'm even more scared for Resurrection, I hope this time they make it right and give Dexter a good ending.
Apparently they said Resurrection could be multiple seasons
You know he will escape at the end. He has to!
You also have to remember that Deb is a teenager in this. It was very intentional that she overreacts bc for teenagers high school feels high stakes. She's not the person she grows into yet. Shes a party girl at this time.
Bro overreacts as an adult 😂
I'm most interested in Harry's character. The motivation we got for teaching Dexter was him feeling responsible for Luara Moser and his spiraling frustrations with the justice system. Adding the loss of a child makes his choices that much more empathetic. I'll bet we even get a young Dr. Vogel counseling Harry.
Hope they just ignore that terrible retcon and Vogel altogether haha
@@HumanipathicI liked her 😅
Harry always told Dexter that the most important rule was not getting caught, which always felt weird that he prioritized that over protecting the innocent. I think seeing that Harry lost a child actually adds up, as it explains why he always prioritized Dexter's survival over anything else, even showing Dexter an execution to make him understand.
Yes please i hope they just ignore all of season 8 forever lol@@Humanipathic
I like the choice of music from the time period !
i think the main issue with deb is she has it together a lot more when we meet her, shes a teen girl here so i dont expect her to even be a fully good person at first i see her growing alot more and maturing after harry death, she was pretty serious about everything in the hospital
I was pleasantly surprised with the episode. Michael C Hall doing the narrating helps a ton.
@@debra2700 exactly!
@@gunnxman2604 Isn't it crazy to invent a dead kid at this point!?
I think that for a Dexter prequel, they did good. As long as it keeps up the same consistent quality, it’ll be a great season if Dexter.
NEW BLOOD was so badly ruined in its last episode.
Yeah, Dexter could have easily got out of that situation, instead he had to kill a cop who was also his friend and then his son shoots him, I hate that ending more than S8's ending.
@@TimothyMills77 And the KETAMINE fiasco! M99 M99 M99!
@@TimothyMills77 yeah, it made me rethink the quality of the S8 ending.
It did NOT ruin it. NOTHING was worse than S8 end in isolation. If resurrection wasn’t happening, he had to die to pay for it and it was good and fitting end. Idk what some of you complainers want lol.
The whole thing had a lot of issues. Too little villain development. Too boring overall plot. Etc.
Dexter Morgan isn’t dead after all and I'm so happy. They can recreate Dexter's early life all they want but seeing Michael C. Hall as original Dexter and knowing that "Dexter: Resurrection" is coming soon gives me hope to go on living. Well, you know...
Imo…the Deb actor was the standout.
Exactly. I had said in a previous comment that this teenage Deb reminded me so much of Debra from season 1 of the original show when she was less mature and insecure
i left the same comment i expect her to be all over but she has shown to be good towards dex after he saved her she thanked him while drunk
Exactly! In this series he's a teenage girl, not a cop.
I've been waiting for this since you mentioned you guys enjoyed Dexter!
I haven’t watched Dexter but I want to watch it at some point but I have a bad time whenever a show ends poorly but maybe it’s worth it?
@WhoooshyYT definitely worth it. The ending isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but it's not a good ending.
@@TimothyMills77 I’m definitely going to give it a shot but ever since I watched the final season of game of thrones, I’ve hated how shows don’t stick landings sometimes 🤣. Really soured my enjoyment. Although, the show could be amazing even with the ending sucking
It’s about the journey… I always try to appreciate the journey whilst in the midst of it
@WhoooshyYT I'm hoping when Cobra Kai season 6 part 3 comes put, it'll stick the landing because I'd be so mad of Cobra Kai ends on a bad note.
(and the Deb actress was good IMO, by the second half she was really coming through)
You're crazy cuz he is a WrestleMania fan he's mentioned it before
@@paulcarpenter7844 when did he mention it before?
@@anonymes2884 she was good imo too, i'm just telling people she is not the same Deb from the original. Not yet at least, she is only a teenager. This is like 15 years before the original.

Tonight the night it's going to happen, it have to happen I sit down and watch holden and Jen react to original sin finally. (Michael c hall narrated)
Great review! Excited for episode 2 🩸
With dexter being very closed and cold and not fully remembering his mother I like to think the shows flashbacks are a little misconstrued hence the differences in original sin we are seeing pure brain near death memories, there's no details missed or forgotten.
They reenacted that hospital scene with Harry leaving really good
definitely agree with Holden's point of not being entirely sold on Harry, but I do like Masuka! very excited to see where they go with this story
I don't see why they didn't bring James Remar back. Or maybe he didn't want to come back.
@ ehhh i feel like it would’ve been strange seeing harry older in original sin than he was in the OG show, especially with the flashbacks we’ve already gotten of him
@@Nefariousthekid I suppose
That’s the problem with being adults and having review videos. We end up hyper focusing on things like “they didn’t show his face when he laughed” lol
Great casting. Masuka's laugh is hard to duplicate, but seems just like the original.
The thing I found weird is that they didn't even have Dexter's girlfriend in the front seat driving him in the scene she's the one that took him to the hospital
The parallels with wrestling. Like father, like son
Cristian slater was amazing man.. so much depth... as harry he has to be right... i had no expectations for this.. but im excited..
They either look enough like the old actors, nail the performances, or both.
i came in with very low expectations, and i found the first episode pretty decent. Its definitely budget tho, but the cast has promise!
Oh dang I forgot it's out! I need to watch it and I'll be right back1
I’m so impatient for the next episode. Watched the first one like 4 times😂
It was better than I expected. I thought the casting was good and will work out.
Couldn't immerse myself in the story or get lost in episodes when every time she appeared on screen I was jarred out of it :/
I very liked this first episode
I’m loving this one way more than New Blood
Love Dexter!
That may have been the side of Harry we didn’t see in flash backs or Dex’s mind
Harry as Dexter’s father and Harry as Captain likely have different styles.
Harry as Dexter’s father and Harry as Captain likely have different styles.
I had a fun time watching this episode.
deb wasnt annoying in dexter but here she is
Based on episode 1 I'm giving it a 7- out of 10.
It was brought up about the little brother in the original
Masuka brought Harry chocolate lava cakes... His specialty...
I'm so happy Dexter is a wrestling fan
No esperaba nada de esta serie, de hecho hasta hubiera preferido una precuela de otros personajes como brian moser, pero que equivocado estuve sinceramente cumple la serie es muy buena el primer capítulo.
Definitivamente tiene mucho potencial
Can't watch this as currently watching through Dexter and only on season 5. But can anyone confirm if Dexter Original Sin is a W or a L?
A relieving and surprising win. Seems most Dexter fans are enjoying it, course there are always gonna be the really critical fans . I gave it a 8/10. There are some minor issues that I can easily overlook. But i really enjoyed it, it definitely feels like Dexter, because it is 😈💉🩸Be careful with spoilers.
I thought that the first episode was delightful. The only character that didn’t resonate with me was Deb. Hopefully, Molly’s performance will evolve.
Debra became my favorite character later on she’s a powerhouse and i think Molly did well and has potential with her ranges of emotions
, but we hardly saw any of Deb’s side of in flashbacks in regular series so she’s gonna be bit different young maybe not seeking the love yet more acting out and with Harry alive
Maybe its just the episode or something but I expect a far better performane from Slater.
i really liked the first episode so far
Far, far better than New Blood. Redemption earned.
This episode felt very rushed and like they wanted to get the intro episode over with. I hope they slow the story a little bit down from here on. In that scene in the hospital where Dexter is eating, Debs reaction was perfect though.
I didnt feel like it was rushed at all.
I was hating so much before i watched the first ep and it turned out being amazing
Good lesson there then right ?
@ no
His laugh is real
The actors are a bit to get used to but so far its solid af
Can you react Agatha or Netflix punisher
Do I need to watch New Blood to understand this series? I watched the original but nothing else?
In the first series of Dexter, Masuka laughs when he makes a joke about something related to sex.
However, in this series, it seems he laughs for no real reason.
Maybe this old jokes are no longer compatible with our era...
They retconned the nurse story.

This Deb I don’t love her yet either lol she was more annoying than anything. I hope she grows on me like the original Deb did. I felt the same way about the cosplay feel in the beginning but Im hoping it’s just something we will get used to. Other than that I’m still looking forward to the rest of the season.
episode is great they doo a very good job imho however something has not conspired yet that is all i will say
For me deb was throwing me off with mimicing but after that hospital scene I am confident. Dexter is good. Musuka with limted time was okaies. morgan was meh. He has to improve. Otherwise a solid episode. Eager to watch the next.
Possible continuity error. Dexter still had long hair when hairy died.
