Ngururrpa Indigenous Protected Area | Country Needs People

We are often asked, “What is an Indigenous Protected Area?” In truth, it’s many things. It’s an area that helps to protect nature, sustain culture and create opportunities for people.
But rather than us explain have a look at this video we made with our partners the Parna Ngururrpa Aboriginal Corporation in Western Australia’s Great Sandy Desert.
Traditional owners have worked for years to reassert their presence on Country. The Ngururrpa Indigenous Protected Area is another key step in that journey. We’re proud to have played a role in that journey, along with many others, led by the commitment of Ngururrpa traditional owners.
Protecting nature, sustaining culture, creating opportunities for people. That’s why we are advocating for the federal government to double funding for Indigenous Protected Areas.
