Hi Gemma. Love the tutorial ! Ive started trying out this method also and quite liking it but wondering how far down you will go (on the left side) without fully completing the whole width of each of the rows above. And how long are your diagonals? Thanks for the tips.
I go downwards what fits comfortably in my frame, in this case it is 60 rows. Then I go to the top for the next diagonal. I do horizontal passes across the whole project that way, 60 rows each time until I reach the far end and then start again from the left. Hope that helps!
I work in passes across my piece so once I get to the bottom (usually about 60-70 rows worth) I cut it off there and continue across horizontally, then once I reach the far right edge I go back to the left and work another 60-70 rows
I bought mine off Ebay. Unfortunately that seller is no longer active. Wool warehouse sells by the meter so you can buy a continuous cut of several meters if you like. They ship worldwide.
Hi There-Since I can’t get answers from the developer, And you’re an avid PK user, and I’m getting ready to start my first piece in Pattern Keeper, I really need to understand something. I have a piece by Jan Hicks. Her center point on her paper pattern is correct. But Pattern Keeper is making the vertical center way off.(Horizontal center is correct.) Have you run into that before? I only know how to start in the center so this is messing with my brain.
I have not had that problem, you could try reimporting the pattern and changing the dimensions of the chart. If there is some empty squares in the last section of ten rows or columns it may be throwing things off. If you’re on Facebook there is a “Stitching With Pattern Keeper” group that might be more helpful than I am, found here: facebook.com/groups/363515547861846/?ref=share
Hi Jannie, I asked in a group and they said that while you can not change it manually, if you switch between “center of stitched area” to “center of grid” in the settings that may correct it. It could be blank space on the edges of the chart throwing it off. If that doesn’t work my other suggestion would be to turn off the center mark entirely and just make a note of it manually, maybe with a parking mark as a guide. I hope that helps!
I actually do them very quickly one after the other with a double tap for the parked stitch and then the checkmark for the highlighted completed stitches. I do not highlight the parked stitch before I double tap it. I hope that makes sense
Using a double tap to mark or park is not set up automatically, in your pattern if you tap the gear icon it will take you to the settings and you can set up what you want a double tap to do, and you can set your parking mark to go in any corner you like. I made a quick overview of pattern keeper here: ua-cam.com/video/NBEfSnIhC0A/v-deo.html
I use pattern keeper also and love it! How do you get your color list to disappear and only show the color your using on the top? I can’t seem to figure that out. I click on the arrow on top and it just widens the chart showing no color at all. 🤷🏻♀️
This is a lot like how I stitch but I don’t stay as close to the diagonals. I find it helps to feel like I’m parking to keep things neat but also not forcing myself to only stitch one cross at a time.
I don’t know why but I have always found it relaxing to go back and do the top leg of a bunch of half-finished stitches, as I don’t have to count them at that point
Can't see your work, you aren't describing what you are doing and why ("whatever makes the most sense to me. However it happens to work out.") means nothing to me, can't see the chart. Nice chat but I'm not learning a thing here.
I pick them up very carefully 😂 I usually separate the threads from the top and pull the thread free rather than picking up the needle at the bottom so I’m not sticking my fingers into a whole bunch of needles. Also the needles I use are a bit duller so even if I do get it wrong it’s not sharp enough to actually stab me

I made a video here of how I end my diagonals when I run out of room in my frame ua-cam.com/video/k0nFgQHK9Cw/v-deo.html
Thank you that made a lot more sense and helpful hope to see more videos
Awesome glad it was helpful! Will make more in the future
Looking great. But I have a question :
I see you are doing a part diagonaal and then in a row horizontal.
Why? Ty
I work in passes across my piece so once I get to the bottom (usually about 60-70 rows worth) I cut it off there and continue across horizontally, then once I reach the far right edge I go back to the left and work another 60-70 rows
Where do you buy bolts of cross stitch fabric?

How far will you carry so you are not wasting a ton of thread?
I carry up to an inch, beyond that I end and restart

Good morning, just found your tutorial, how do you mark off parked and done stitch at the same time please
I actually do them very quickly one after the other with a double tap for the parked stitch and then the checkmark for the highlighted completed stitches. I do not highlight the parked stitch before I double tap it. I hope that makes sense

Have you updated it recently? It was a change included in a later release
@@gemmastitches thank you! I thought I was current in updates but apparently not! All set now! 😊
Awesome, glad I could help ☺️
What do you do with your completed patterns? You store them or sell?
I make them into wallhangings when I am done

If you keep your needles threaded, how do you not stab yourself? 😀
