    Great episode.. Love the new season and how the production staff ,showcases inspiration from the current location (state). They’re having fun, from the chefs to the production staff. I’m not bored to death.

    But this isn't a fish boil. Hard to really compare the two when one's a completely different cooking method.

    Fish boils are incredible and as someone who has a mother from Door County, the tradition of it and the fun of it is unmatched. ❤ SO good!

    I love this series. Its sooo amazing with the Kristen down-to-earth vibe. That being said, this episode missed the mark. This felt like raking Soo over the coals - again. Wow. Not cool.
    We all understand the pressure. We all understand the clock. We all understand the twist of having to incorporate unseen ingredients.
    To leisurely and with mirth show how the ingredients shoulda woulda coulda been used seems like a real departure from the usual good-natured vibe of this channel.

    pretty basic result. btw Soo asked for red or green curry but Gregory was the worst partner shopper. the others listened and helped to make the chefs' themes worked.

    I thought the dish looked amazing! But then again I like fish. I’ve never made it this way, but the first thing that came to my mind when they were talking about it because you can’t cook fish for too very long is that they needed to get the flavor in the fish by having an extremely, well season broth. And at least one person brined their fish, which was a really good move.
    Loving this new season, I loved Padma, and I am really enjoying Kristen Kish!
    At first, I thought the kerosene was a bit much, but I guess they do this there? Or when they do fish boil? Or competition? I have no idea. But I see the purpose of it in the end but only if they knew how to do a fish boil, having the boiling already taking place, and this just intensifies the heat to ensure the concentration of the flavors. That’s my guess. I don’t know.🤷🏻‍♀️
    Just glad everybody was safe! 😁

    Love that they brought Gregory in to show that those groceries could work for that challenge. Looks delicious but still sad that Soo’s gone.

    The fish boil and throwing kerosine on the fire just seemed so unnecessary. What a waste of fuel why damage the environment? It was actually upsetting to see that kind of waste and destruction.

      The throwing of the kerosine seemed over the top and more for spectacle, but you're telling me you've never cooked over a camp fire before?

      Holy Moly … Please allow people to celebrate their traditions around food - cultural and regional practices that have been around for generations and hundred of years. Environmentalism in this case seems overstated: It’s a celebratory meal that surely happens only a few times a year, and is closely connected to the state of Wisconsin (none of the chef had even heard of it except “Dan” who’s from the area). I don’t believe that pyro display w the kerosene is going to have much (if any) environmental impact. There are bigger concerns around waste & destruction than what was showcased here.

    First of all, I blame Gregory for Su's elimination. And the audacity to say "dont use everything" after you shopped for him. Gregory 👎👎👎

      Su had zero plan- he said it himself! That’s Top Chef- you have to know how to edit and not overcomplicate! (Correction thank you to @ariaravenlock7623 who pointed out Su had said he had intended to make a Thai curry based fish boil).

    • @ariaravenlock7623
      @ariaravenlock7623 25 днів тому +2

      @@blckstr_canuckles He had a plan: Thai curry. Even specifically asked for curry paste and fennel, neither of which Gregory bought.

    • @blckstr_canuckles
      @blckstr_canuckles 25 днів тому

      @@ariaravenlock7623 I stand corrected. I went back and rewatched the episode. He did say he wanted to build his flavours of his broth off of the Thai curry paste and do an apple fennel slaw. There was no fennel, and Gregory did not buy his paste, but he had all the components there to build a flavourful paste- the lemongrass and the chilli peppers were big flavour options along with the crayfish. The fish was only going to cook in 8 minutes so there was plenty of time. Su was a great competitor but I wish he had not used those corn nuts- everything he cooked up until that episode showed his adaptability and ability to simplify and work with what he had. Unfortunate that he missed.

      Gregory is still raking Su over the coals! Geez, not a good look for gregory.

    • @teej143
      @teej143 20 днів тому

      @@darlynebratton that’s exactly my issue. Nobody is denying that Su made the least successful dish that day, but Gregory talking smack after he was the one who’s supposed to be supportive of his charge (and shopped for him) rubbed me the wrong way.

    'Fish boil' seems like the worst two words in all of cooking. I don't care what flavours you can incorporate into the fish, a boiled texture just doesn't sound appealing at all.

    Gregory was a terrible shopper who's shopping was the cause of the best chef to loose. Pretty awful episode...what a horrible smoke all around ...bad for the environment and horrible for the people around.

    Looks gross. Sorry Gregory. I don't think that's a very appetizer style of cooking. Sorry Wisconsin.
