I got into Biggie, technically, through Sublime. Yeah, the reggae/rock/punk band. Let me explain how:
So Sublime had a song called KRS-ONE, that song inspired me to check out how KRS-ONE actually was, and listen to him. Upon listening to KRS-ONE, I moved on to listen to 2Pac, and other rappers from the 90's. As I progressed, I heard one song, 'Who Shot Ya?'. Didn't really like it at first, stuck to listening to 2Pac, KRS, Outlawz, etc. I went back later, and I went on a massive binge of every Biggie song I could find. Now he's probably my second favorite rapper of all time.

Biggie’s style is called “Daisy chain rapping”. That’s when he has rhymes within rhymes and also changes the rhyme pattern unexpectedly, and almost sounds like he’s going off the beat and then brings it back in. No one does it better!

I know i always ask for kendrick, x and joey... but i have 2 absolutely legendary oldschool rappers you HAVE TO DO. Mos def (mathematics or thieves in the night) and MF DOOM (figaro, fancy clown, accordion, books of war, thats that... etc) IMO the two best most inovative lyricist who make ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECES. You will not be dissapointed. The two most underrated rappers of all time hands down. Mf doom will rhyme entire sentences every single syllable. Its unbelievable. (He leaves kendrick and eminem in the dust)

great video! one of the things Biggies does that makes him "like a cup of tea" is he "daisy chains" his bars. So before one rhyme scheme ends he has started another. So for example:
"It ain't no contest,
Bigs what they call best
he rapped and captured them all,
he's the best I can ever recal
the most clever on any endeavor"
So, in the second bar "call" starts the next verse, and "ever"the next one.
I learned how Biggie pioneered this from Deconstructing Rap by Vox, you two should react to it, it'll give you a lot of history of how the technique of rap has evolved. my parents and grandma loved it, if that tells ya anything
