      Hello!
Connecting an IP camera to vMix for live streaming or video production can enhance your production quality by leveraging networked video sources. vMix supports IP cameras, including those that use protocols such as RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) and NDI® (Network Device Interface).
Here’s how to connect a standard IP camera to vMix:
Step 1: Ensure Your IP Camera is Connected to the Network
Make sure your IP camera is properly connected to your network and fully operational. You can typically check this by accessing the camera's web interface through a browser using its IP address.
Step 2: Obtain the IP Camera Stream URL
You need the stream URL from your IP camera, which is often found in the camera's documentation or web interface. This URL is necessary for vMix to access the camera's video feed.
For RTSP streams, the URL usually looks something like: rtsp://[IP address]/[path]. The exact format can vary depending on the camera manufacturer.
Step 3: Add the IP Camera to vMix
Open vMix: Start vMix on your computer.
Add Input: Click on the "Add Input" button located at the bottom left of the vMix interface.
      Select Camera Type:
For RTSP and other IP streams, choose the “Stream/SRT” option.
If your camera supports NDI® and you want to use that, select the “NDI/Desktop Capture” option.
      Enter Stream URL:
For RTSP, paste the stream URL you obtained from your IP camera into the "URL" field.
For NDI®, you should see your camera listed in the window if it’s properly connected and broadcasting over your network. Select it from the list.
Click OK: After entering the stream URL or selecting your camera from the list, click “OK” to add the camera to your vMix production.
Step 4: Adjust Settings and Use the Camera in Your Production
Once added, you can see your camera's feed in the vMix interface. You can now select it as a source for your live production or recording.
You may need to adjust settings like resolution, frame rate, or audio levels to match your production needs.
      Additional Tips
Network Configuration: Ensure your network is configured to handle video streaming, as IP video can be bandwidth-intensive. Using a wired connection for both the camera and the streaming PC is recommended for stability.
Firewall and Access Issues: Make sure any firewalls on your network or computer are configured to allow the traffic from your IP camera.
Compatibility: Verify that your IP camera’s streaming formats are supported by vMix. Most modern IP cameras using standard protocols like RTSP should work.
By following these steps, you should be able to connect your IP camera to vMix and incorporate it into your video productions. If you encounter any issues, it might be helpful to consult the camera's manual for specific configuration details or reach out to vMix support for assistance with their software.
