Bishop Maksym Ryabukha: “This is a historic time. A time of great saints”

"Russian soldiers have immense fear in their eyes because they understand that the force of light, love, and goodness they fight against will never be conquered by them," said Father Maksym Ryabukha. When we recorded the interview in July for the project “Little Stories of a Big War” with Father Maksym, we did not know that in a few months, he would be nominated as a bishop for the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and that his episcopal ordination would be scheduled for December 22nd at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection in Kyiv.
We recorded this conversation when Father Maxim was in Kyiv as Rector in the Monastery of the Holy Virgin, Help of Christians with the Salesian Fathers. Since 2018, Father Maksym has managed to unite and gather a lot of young people around the monastery. Youth from not only the Kyiv Archeparchy but also friends from five regions of Ukraine --Kyiv Oblast, Zhytomyr Oblast, Vinnytsia Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, and Cherkasy Oblast -participate in the events and formational activities organized at the monastery.
