You know Tom Hardy is a phenomenal actor when it's been almost a decade since this film was released - at the time of this comment - and I still can't believe it's him under the mask. As as for the voice, physique and the overall performance, this Bane is easily the Darth Vader of modern cinema.
I think the Darth Vader turtle has gone to Thanos before it was the Joker and Bane tho. But looking back at this movie Bane was truly no joke, dude was a full on ruthless terrorist. He literally identified the doc and bomb and proceeded to to kill the only person that was able to disarm it.

A lot of people don’t know this, but the segment of this scene where the football field is detonated and the players all fall into the pit was completely improvised. Christopher Nolan had originally scripted the terrorists to go out into the field and hold the football players at gunpoint, but Tom Hardy thought that it would add a layer of debt for his character to blow up the entire field. Christopher Nolan was so impressed with the shot of the one surviving player that he kept it in the film.

I love the ever changing geography of Gotham. In the first movie, it was clearly based on Chicago. But at 2:05, they don't even try to pretend that isn't New York, given they left the half built One World Trade Centre in the shot.
