I was walking through Parramatta Park one day and the team came running over the hill. Sterlo pushing hard up front, Kenny in cruise control at the rear. Interesting to see their different personalities at training.
Thats, just one aspect. Wally was up there with Kenny but was bigger and played in forwards as well as being a tactical kicker and captain. Wally was 3 players in one. Kenny was brilliant if he got a good pass but needed a great team around him. Having said that yes he definately should be an immortal.
I been watching league since I was 5 years old I'm now 57 seen some great players in that time sterlo killrich Eddie Lewis johns lazo blocker langer Lewis Randall Daley. walford Thurston Hanley rudonkis so many more but for me the best big match player is Kenny excelled at every level he's record speaks for its self 👍🙏💪
Sterlo and Kenny are miles in front of Joey and the likes, 4 premierships, origins and 2 undeafeated tours....cant do much more....As an all time Kenny fan....if you watch the tests in England closely, his defence was brilliant for not such a big man, you never see anyone get around him..they must be an immortal....
He didn't upstage Wally in Origin, pleeeease.. .. I'm not against him being one. He kept Wally out of the Australian 6 at times, which is his next biggest feat next to the 3-peat.
Old come from a football family seen them all since 1959. Souths supporter. Bret Kenny best I have ever seen. Held back by his humility and modesty. Statistically as to what counts in a playing career, he not only did it all he did it twice and no one comes close to that. Australia never lost a game when he played the full match. Went off injured half time in one off test match against NZ in 1987 after gruelling State of Origin series 6 days earlier only test that he was on the losing side and score was near equal at half time. Also best taker of bomb I ever saw. There are 3 Kennys 1. The spectacular 2. The subtle Kenny see 1st test v Poms 1986 Kangaroos 4 tries 3 off Kenny passes yet only in movements for a split second. All players fall on loose balls but not the one he did in the second half that allowed Miles to walk over under the posts for the 4 th try. Kenny's presence always means points and how to take the tackle rather than push the last pass that is not on and then score next play from his calm steady play the ball. 3The spectacular and subtle in the one game. 1982 grand final v Manly not only scores 2 tries but throws the last pass in the other 3 where he made the break in 2 of them and for the 3rd sent Hunt over in the corner with a gem pass. The footballer for the smart fans and I have not mentioned the copybook tackles. Ask the poms Billy Boston, Eddie Ward whose the best, unbiased by local club politics.
I don't know how they determine an Immortal ? I've seen a lot of footy in my life and how some of the Greatest Players ever aren't in there yet ? Bizarre ? Brett Kenny 100% should've been an Immortal Decades ago. Wally Lewis even said the Best Player he ever played against was Brett Kenny 😉
YES YES YES, followed by Ray Price. No I’m not a Parra supporter. Followed by Glen Lazarus and I’d give very close consideration to Eric Grothe. I’m surprised Steve Rogers never gets a mention.
Brett Kenny is the best player of the 1980s and should be an immortal. I dont think he will because every immortal thats been inducted has captained Australia. It shouldn't be selected based on them captaining Australia. That would be the only reason he hasnt been picked.
Ummmm you can’t mention Kenny without Sterlo, they go in together. But then with him you’ve also got to look at Daley Ricky Alfie Fitler Lazarus Lamb. Then into Locky Smith Slater JT & GI the only 4 from that QLD dominant side
People see a small back like Ella or Kenny make long breaks and judge them as immortal. Lets take Ella. Every time he took a heavy tackle he stayed DOWN. You need to be tough, fast and smart. Kenny had the worlds best and biggest centres feeding him the ball. Meninga, cronin, miles, etc. Wally Lewis WAS the ball playing guy who played amongst the forwards. He was hard to tackle, could do a hit up if the forwards were buggered, had great hands and was quick enough. He was also a leader. Kenny was an incredible player, good defender but needed inside players to feed him ball. Its not about a player its the guys they played with. Kenny was small but tough. Not sure he's in Wally's class but was a speed machine.
Kenny should already be in there.

Brett Kenny was a thoroughbred, he made Wally Lewis look like a draughthorse.

Had a coffee with Bert a few ywars back in Surry Hills....gentleman, humble, looking as fit as ever...Immortal!

THE MAN WON 4 PREMIERSHIPS AND UPSTAGED THE MAN THEY CALL "THE KING" IN ORIGIN WHAT MORE DOES HE HAVE TO DO? EASILY AN IMMORTAL

Kenny and Lewis directly opposed each other at 5/8 in state of origin 12 times..NSW 8. QLD 3 and 1 draw.I would call that domination
@@jaredbrady5566Wally never did much without QLDs best, in Barry Gomersall, helping him.
lewis could actually kick the damn football , which is a hell of a lot more than kenny could do.@@boganbob2708
I'm a Queenslander, and I think Brett Kenny has certainly more than earned his place amongst the immortals.

Couldn't agree more mate. Bert was a gift from the Rugby League Gods
Mick Cronin. How many tries did score and set up for Ella Kenny and the Australian, NSW and country backs?
Underrated

He was an absolute superstar, best ever, he had everything, poetry in motion.

The immortals became a JOKE when they made the drug cheat one!!!
exactly...Sterlo wipes the floor with Johns....
Is Ray Price an immortal yet, if so why not?

Coote,Irvine , Kenny , Stirling should be immortals

He is the cool hand luke of the eightys
Brett Kenny would already be an immortal except for the exploints of Barry Gomersall for QLD.
And they still didn't beat NSW 21 year record. 😂
Of course !! Kenny and Sterlo should of been in way before Mal Meninga ( over rated)
The next immortal is Benji Marshall.
Sterlo before Kenny
Both
Les Boyd.
Kenny wasn't that good nor was Joey Johns
Were you alive back then 😂
I doubt you watched this Sport 2 of the Best Ever !!!
Kenny maybe but he was no Wally Lewis, druggo Johns is merely a blemish on the long term history of Rugby League@@blackrose.9927
Joey John's is a drug cheat and he is the eighth immortal
