CROSS BREEDING
Crossbreeding, sometimes called "designer crossbreeding"
- Mating of two animals from different genetic genotypes.
- it can be a local goat against a boer or savanna or kalahari.
- Usually you want to improve the meat in your goats
- End up achieving a pure goat after 6 times breeding
Crossbreeding is the mating of males and females of different breeds or breed types. Purebreeding is the mating of individuals of the same breed or type. Crossbreeding is the recommended breeding strategy for commercial meat sheep and meat goat production.
LINE BREEDING
- Mating of related animals but of less close
relationship.
- Line breeding : Mating animals that are more distantly related which can be traced back to one common ancestor.

- Line breeding can accomplish several goals: 1) produce a more consistent and uniform offspring; 2) identify breeding populations that have no genetic flaws, or identify existing flaws so they can be eliminated; 3) accentuate and sustain more consistent excellence; 4) develop linebred progeny that will provide a "genetic kick" or hybrid vigor when they are outcrossed with non relatives.
INBREEDING
- Mating of offspring and parents or siblings
Can cause bad genetic traits to become more
apparent.
- Inbreeding refers to the mating of close relatives in species that are normally outbreeding. Matings between father and daughter, brother and sister, or first cousins are examples of inbreeding

* Reduced fertility.
* Reduced birth rate.
* Higher infant and child mortality.
* Smaller adult size.
* Reduced immune function.
* Increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
* Increased facial asymmetry.
* Increased risk of genetic disorders.

Hi. This is definitely some of top topics that really make a difference and for sure I learned something new today called Line-breeding as I only knew cross and in-line breeding before watching this video.
My topic suggestions:
1=> that I have hardly seen around is Natural Synchronization with clear examples. I think that one will certainly get greater interest from people searching the topic and so far no more that one person went through it. Having your practical approach to that would be a plus.
2=> Raised house vs non-raised house
benefits vs disadvantages of each one.
How to effectively maintain hygiene in non-raised-house to keep healthy goats and reduce diseases to strict minimum as possible.

Definitely natural synchronization is the next hot topic i have been planning to do it but somehow i keep on forgetting. I promise i will do it. About the raised pen or kraal is going to be hard because in our country not a lot of people prefer it i don’t know why but i can see a lot of benefits

Nice one buddy, this is one of the topics I've been wanting you to do, and yes you have done justice to it. This is one of the most critical aspects of breeding, like I've said before, the goat industry is booming right now things have to be done right. Whether you are breeding to sell bucks or breeding females, one must know how to go about it. All that we do must be in line with the expectations of how a boer should be and look like and we must be strict so as to produce quality goats_quality over quantity. I will give you an example, if you look at the bucks that are produced by most of us you will notice that the horns are far off, they lack length and many times depth, with most of them having that devil's grip. They don't look anything like how a boer should as per the set standard and this is due to the aspects of breeding that you just mentioned above. But with you sharing such knowledge we will improve. Thanks buddy i was not so much confidence doing this one i am glad u said i have done justice to it. Ne e le thata to explain it, i think with small improvement every time we will definitely go forth and produce better quality for the market. I also believe am far away from achieving my target which is to produce stud animals next year but even though i have would failed atleast i have learned few things
@@RoseMoFarm You did great buddy, I personally understood you and have no doubt other farmers did as well. Atleast now we know that not every goat with a red head is a full blood BoerGoat but rather a percentage boer🤣🤣. As farmers, we need to know these things, coz it takes a lot to get a percentage to full genetic status. Nd if we are aware of these things we will never hear a person saying I got ripped off..I will know if I'm buying a straight F1 , F3 or F6, this is critical to one's breeding plan, especially in growth performance. But slowly we are learning buddy. As for you mate; you will reach Stud status my friend, with such passion and determination I have no doubt that you will make it happen. What a useful information? I am really learning a lot,however let me say to a starter it is probably not easy to control inbreeding especially if one is farming with free roaming goats , but through your videos and others I am learning, I can say atleast from what I have learned so far now I may able to tell whether this or that goat is a stud or not just by looking at it.Thsnk you and keep on educating us.

Inbreeding and line breeding are practically the same thing.
Line breeding
It's called line breeding when it's successfully done and the good genetics of your herd is intensified to achieve a more predictable offspring. For example if you wanting to keep the good traits in your animals, like milk, conformation, growth, eye pigmentation, polled, temperament, colour, under development and shape, good mothering instinct etc
Then it's called inbreeding when you have bad genetics or certain traits in the first place and you try to breed those related animals. Then those bad genetics are multiplied and intensified in the offspring setting you back.
You just need to have superior genetics to mate animals that are close related or fully related.
I don't see anything wrong with that a lion in the wild mates with all the lioness in the pack at times he will give his favorite brother a chance to mate if they get along very well and those lions are all closely related. Those genes and hunting skills are passed down to the offspring genetically. Same with even kudus, impala's the most dominant bull/Ram gets to mate with all the cows/ewes in the herd/flock.
Good genetics must be present to be able to do it.
