Your palette stays so organized. I gotta get a better habit going.
Beautiful painting. Thank you for showing us!
Thank you. It sure didn’t start out that way, being organized that is. Lol.
You are so very talented, and your shades highlight the curvature and texture of you animals. I was a taxidermist and have always loved the gift God has given us in nature. You bring its beauty to life! I enjoy doing under water paintings of salmon runs, trout, which are very challenging for me. It would be amazing for you to do an under water creation maybe with a brown bear attempting to snatch a salmon from its hideaway, with its paw and claws visible. Thank you for creating so much enjoyment for nature lovers!!
Well I sincerely appreciate those kind words! It definitely encourages me to do more. I too was a taxidermist for many years, it definitely served me well as I developed as a painter. Thanks Dean!
Stunning thank you I’ve got a WIP of a winter scene & decided to add a white tail buck.
I’ve done a few that are excellent. But I still keep learning there no such thing as to much knowledge.
Amazing talent! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful!❤ i love all wildlife. Spent alot of time as a kid on a horse and cattle ranch in Freer Texas lots of deer out there as well. But i gotta stay true to my favorite animal which im sure you do a remarkable job at painting. Horses 🐎
Thank you Angela! I live in Alberta, Canada. They call us the Texas of the north. Oil and gas country, and lots of wildlife. Love it!
Beautiful!❤
I’m just in awe of your talent! You have come such a long way from your pencil sketches in elementary school! For me it is the Owl that makes me stop and stare right back. Next would be a grizzly. Had the chance to get unintentionally close to a grizzly in Kananaskis Country and it was both magnificent and scary at the same time. ~Jay
Thanks so much Jay!!🙏🏼The owls for sure and well the grizzly... that must of been intense! Both have inspired paintings from me, so I know exactly what you mean.
Just found you! My favorite art type and your work is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
I'd love to see you do a Rio Grande Cutthroat...I find water to be so difficult! But the beautiful colors of this fish on a tight line with the type of fall background you show in this painting would be magical. A great video as always and thrilled to see you have a course now!
Thank you Dee! I'm in the process also of gathering footage for a few mini courses on specific areas such as water. I'm currently working on a video for UA-cam on how I create "breath" in a howling wolf. My own little secret weapon for that. Should have it on my channel next week, just waiting for the paint to dry. 😊
@@DesMcCaffrey That sounds fabulous!
I I have any taxidermist and my father was a taxidermist. I never got into painting but I have a year ago. I have just gotten into fly fishing and have fished trout my whole life and we have mounted many large trout in our day I think it would make a amazing painting a fly fisherman in mid-cast on a beautiful Montana river in autumn with the absolutely stunning
Sounds like a good foundation for painting. I also used to paint fish back in the 80's while doing taxidermy. It really helped when using an airbrush in my flat art pieces. Not sure if you know but I have a couple of online painting courses available if you're interested. The links to those are in the description. Thanks Kenneth!
Beautiful!!
Love your work!!
Thank you!
Love your work and thanks for sharing. I just got back from yellowstone where I caught an awesome photo of a bison that I'm gonna start to paint real soon. Whitetails and turkey are my favorite.
Thanks Brian! 🙏🏼 Yellowstone Bison would get my blood pumping also. Sure wish we had the turkeys up here though, the winters are just to brutal.
@@DesMcCaffrey I live in Alabama turkeys all around here but good catching them on camera. I'm hoping one day I'll be able to paint like you. I'll just keep practicing.
@@briancoker1747 Good luck with the turkeys this spring! Man I sure wish we had them up here! I guess I'll have to settle for the snow geese. Lol!
Amazing!!!
Thank you Tyce!🙏🏼
Fox. I paint a little fox in the corner of paintings I wish I’d done better - so I have something I’m happy to look at. Thanks for the video. Love your work!
That's a cool idea Kate!👍🏼Thanks so much for the feedback!!
I know they aren't really native to Alberta, but have you ever done a muskox? They seem like the sort of big hefty creature you would be able to do.
Yes, I actually did paint them once. It was a small commission piece about 20 years ago though.
@@DesMcCaffrey Very cool. I want to try some one day. Am currently focussed on a show for the Louisiana Whooping crane reintroduction project, (an exhibit with the State dept of Wildlife and fisheries)so am painting W.cranes like crazy, but am secretly much more drawn to big ungulates like you do.
Once this show is out of the way, will work on big mammals again. I look up to you. Thank you for posting your art and life as a wildlife artist. Truly inspiring!
Great stuff, thinking about buying the courses. Just an FYI your studio link are leading me to computers on amazon.
OK I was not aware of that, I'll look into that right away and see what the heck is going on. Thanks.
Hi Des 🥰 I’ve been searching all over the web for the in depth videos of this painting,- I see your website looks different now(?) Did you remove it? Is there somewhere I can buy the “lesson”? I would really love to learn from you 🙏🥰 Thank you for sharing and inspiring with your beautiful art ❤️
I don’t currently have this available but when I release it again I can notify you. Thanks!
@@DesMcCaffrey Thank you ☺️
درود بر شما استاد که فقط در چند دقیقه نقاشی به این خوبی میکشید
Thank you!!😊
What do they call the black stuff that goes behind the paper to draw the image onto the canvas
It's just artists carbon paper. I got it at Michaels but I'm sure you can get it any art supply store.
Thanks I’ll get some I love your work it’s very inspiring.
