Hi Amanda,my name is Jason. I have had congenital hydro since birth and I am now 41,and I have had 5 brain surgeries plus another to remove a tumor from my ear canal. I also didn't know anyone with my condition and felt isolated. Your story is amazing. God Bless You

Jason I am 28 I have hydrocephalus I have balance, sight, hearing, anxiety depression and I'm pretty sure it's a blocked shunt it's 7 years old the tubing the pump is 19 years old. I am so glad others have this too I feel better knowing I'm not alone. I love y'all this is scary sometimes like rn this is debilitating sometimes. I hope they do surgery soon and get the ok to. It's been 4 months since the symptoms started and the progression is getting worse. Jason I wish and pray that you have much happiness and a beautiful life. Thank you for your story and take care. Oh yeah and that's another thing through this I was sinning alot with girls and drinking but now that this happened four months ago all I want to do is call on Jesus and show others love and tell them they are loved and to cheer up if they are down. I have a Joy that I was always looking for. God works in mysterious ways, and I was lost but I'm found. We are only here for a blink of an eye compared to eternity in heaven so every second here should be worth it and for Jesus. Satan can't win I am yours Jesus!!

Inspiring. I got my first shunt when I was 18, in 1984, and have had 23 shunt revisions since then. The recent three-back-to-back in March & April, 2023.

This hits so close to home to me I was born with hydrocephalus due to being born so prematurely my consultants and surgeons were amazing during my surgeries for it couldn’t be more thankful 🙏🏻

Hi Amanda you are an incredible young lady. My name is Zachary Ellis. I was born in 1990 and I was diagnosed with Hydrrocephalus at 3 weeks old and had my first Neuro Surgery then. I had a shunt put in. I had many many problems such as being up every night sick up until I was 10 years old. In February of 2001 my Shunt failed and I had to have a 2nd surgery to get another Shunt put in on the opposite side. I had to have a 3rd surgery about a week later due to my new Shunt as it become blocked and surrounded with fluid. Luckily since 2002 I haven't had to have any more Shunt surgeries but I still have problems that I am trying to manage with medications such as seizures and balance problems. My Neurologisy isn't 100% sure if my shunt is still working properly but the medications help alot. Throughout school I was in modified classrooms and had incredible teachers. Take care and I hope you are doing well.

Hi I've had a shunt since I was 11yrs old and I am 39 years old now. I haven't ever had to have it replaced. About 2 years ago I found out that the tube has disconnected itself and they said there was no trace of fluid on my brain. And they can't tell me when it may have disconnected itself. Have you ever had to have yours replaced??

what did ANA do differently to the previous 15 neuro-surgeries???

Why did she have surgery in multiple locations so far apart? Did her family move and just require a new neurosurgeon or did she actually travel for the surgery? I'm in my 40s. I was born, went to college, and had 5 shunt surgeries for hydrocephalus all within 1 mile of where I currently live. Ok, I actually grew up in a suburb of Detroit, but now I live in the city back where it literally all began for me.

The piano in the background is really distracting. This video clip would be better without.
