What helped me the most with raising my children was the book ‘Raising Warriors: Preparing Your Children For a Godly Life’. It is honestly a game changer
I had incredibly strict and sheltering parents growing up. I was home schooled, home churched, wasn't allowed to listen to secular music, couldn't date and I wasn't allowed to make any of my own decisions. So when I left at 17, I went absolutely crazy. Became addicted to drugs and self destructive behavior. Until I met my wife at 19. I've been improving ever since. Now that I have my own kids I am raising them totally different than I was, much like the
"authoritative parenting" you described. So far they're turning out great! I still struggle with anxiety and depression, but every day I get a little better, and if you had a similar experience and are struggling, so can you :)
Good job to you dude! Keep being a good father and making cool videos 👍

Because you are taking care of your kids the right way, they love you, and it is a good thing 😊
When I grow up I never want my children to go through what I do. Because my parents feel like as if it is their job to emotionally break their children. I don't want my children to feel as if they can't talk to me about things. I don't want them to be afraid to be in the same room as me.I want them to be able to lean from their mistakes instead of fearing being hit for it.

When I have kids I want them to respect me out love not out fear and strict parents have it backwards because if you are too controlling then they will secretly rebel against you and will hide things in fear of you which in result ruin the relationship between parent and child.

I come from an Asian family and they’re pretty strict. I think strict parents fails to realise that children are humans too, and they have their own feelings, opinions, needs and wants. They should really think about these factors before cramming stress and discipline down the children’s throats.
Agree, though there has to be a limit somewhere
I always found corporal punishment unnecessary. I mean, you're teaching your child to fear you, the one person in their life they spend most of their time with and trusted when growing up, it's a bit much.
When I was younger, my mom yelled at me over something. She then went in for the hug to tell me she loved me despite just yelling at me. Thanks Life Noggin, I really hope this can teach parents, I'll be honest I'm a 12 year old girl. Yes really, I spend a lot of my time on the internet and I'm always afraid to admit my age as people online think I'm just a spoiled brat. Off topic I've always lived with my mom and well.. She's an alcoholic and I've just accepted this, until I was 10, I learned the danger of alcohol and the impacts it has of children.. like me and because I've gone through this so much I can notice the earliest signs of someone becoming drunk, even before anyone else can notice and when I say something their like "Oh she's just tired and bored" and guess what? She's drunk 1 hour later. But I've had some moments from her that I will never forget, one time she literally took me to the alcohol store and I told my nan that she took me to the store, she caught up to my mom and right when we were about to leave after getting the stuff my nan pulled up and wanted me to get in her car, obviously I wanted to go with my nan but my mom tried to convince me to stay, I eventually went with my nan and I can't remember the rest.. sorry but I go through that stuff a lot or she yells at me to sleep at like 6pm, just recently I've started to realize that.. this is my life.. this is how I live and how I will most likely remember it.. I really hope no future parents do this to their children and for those that are in a similar spot like me.. go with your other parents, talk with the person drinking and if they don't listen as a last resort, call Child Protection Services, it will be hard but if its all you got you should really do it.
Thanks for reading this I had to this long and hard to post this but it's probably worth getting the stress off of my shoulders.

I hope you grow up, and be a independent woman, and hopefully your mom won’t drink near you.
Most parents always blame everything on “those damn phones” and “them computers”,
Yea and most of the time there on more then there kids
Or you play on the computer for 1.5 hours and they say that you are addicted to them
Parents are only saying that because of they’re bad parenting. And they don’t wanna talk about.
Video games HELP me, I have like no friends in real life, but through playing games I have met many amazing friends, and that's just one example of how technology can help someone
They will never understand our generation.
tfw your mom lectures you over your book choices because the book you wanted to read was “too depressing”
smh...and they also blame it on video games too, because they’re “violent.”
Spiritliliii I get yelled at for reading a book again that I read years ago. I have fun here
Every time I go to a book fair, my mom forces my to buy books I don't want (I actually don't read them after I buy it)
When your winning the argument and your parents hit you with the
“Don’t talk back to me” or the belt
I know rt but I've never got the belt
Or both
Ohh yeah my mom does that alot. But instead of a belt she goes WWE and starts pulling my hair and throwing me to the ground or something.
I always win the argument >:)
But then my mom is like: "Huh there you go again. Talking back to me again."
Then for like 2 days (except me or my mom apologize) she will not talk to me... at all.
But she was cool! She supports me in everything (well except games duhh)
And she always forgives me. I'm lucky to have such a nice parent!
I remember there's a difference between being strict and disciplining.
I've met some kids that their parents did nothing in their life (besides provide the basic necessities and make sure they're doing good in school) and they sent them to school we're attending a military school to teach them discipline all that even though it didn't do anything and they just were pissed off at their parents even more.
What strict parents think they teach us: • Discipline
• Obedience
What strict parents do teach us:
• How to listen for footsteps
• How to find the best hiding places for devices
• How to lie well
• How to zone out lectures
• How to pretend to sleep/work

Life Noggin: Spanking is bad!
African parents: Imma pretend I didn't see that
Africa that’s called flogging
I believe spanking is good until a certain age of probably around 9, then you try different tactics. Spanking an older kid or teen will just make them angry and it only lasts a short second; However, taking away a privilege works way better because it gives them time to reflect on what they've done wrong and also lets them know that most everything they have actually belongs to their parents who lets them use it. Best case scenarios would be a phone and a car. Those are wants not needs and they don't belong to the child or teen.
@@tripleg2513 but what if the teen bought it themselves? No one can take away something when they didn't buy it because it's not theirs

What she meant was an
foster home
But instead she said something very dehumanizing and controversial and aegis
If I were to put what she said in a nutshell and better explained it would be like this
A child cannot be respected as a person and can only be treated as an object until he or she is an adult and that’s when one can be respected as a human
And also that got me thinking
If a child is an object like money in there really was a “child bank” (Child bank is something that I never thought I’d ever have to say in my life) then that means that you could trade in a 12-year-old for12 newborn babies or you could have a loan of a child

Warning. Warning. Core temperature rising. Warning. Warning. Core at critical condition. Parent approaching. Parent approaching. Use extreme caution.
as a 27 year old adult who lived the majority of her life with a very strict mom and sometimes dad, i concur they are very dangerous.
Nah it's bs lol, there's a difference between making your child avoid trouble, conflict in the future, and leaving your child in the streets out free all day taking drugs and wanderless. I'm 14, my parents can annoy me at times, we are kids, we rebel against them at times. We need punishment, but not things that are way too far like maybe abusing your child with either fire, weapons and stuff like that. You have to realize that we gotta appreciate parents for intentions, I'm sure a simple spank will not cause depression and all that. I've been diagnosed with anxiety and I know it's tuff, but like at times it can be because a lot of people online, public, trends can influence on us and make us cause mischief. Parents won't be in your lives forever and you will realize that they have made a great choice of discipline, we children can also say stuff too that can abuse parents, such as hateful things, which can hurt them a lot of you think about it. Some strict parents can be helpful in your lives. My mom had a very strict mother, she'd hit her with belts and lots of stuff, and my mom surely does not have mental issues, she's a very much responsible mother of three, along with my dad that had an awful past too. But they are the most civilized parents I've known, but oh well it can affect people differently depending on their mentality 🗣
My parents say things like "I'll call the police" or "I'll put you in this terrible place where you have to suffer."
This has caused me to have:
-More Stress
-Overwhelms
-Struggle
-Loneliness
-Fear
-Worry
-Discomfort
etc.
