Considering the group with G2 and Suning, 3-3 is a great record for Liquid. I think they were the best team of the rest that didn't qualify for knockout stage.
dwg had the toughest mental fortitude of all teams at worlds. this combined with their great macro and teamfight shotcalling makes them the best team in the world
Damwon had the third most dominant run in Worlds history behind only 2015 SKT and 2014 SSW. Absolutely incredible run where they were never at elimination point.
I felt throughout the tournament that no team can beat damwon. They just felt a tier above every one. I felt the same in 2015 skt. In 2014 I felt ssw was really strong but thought they could face some trouble if they matched ssb but they didn’t.

I was rooting for DWG since they qualified to the group stage. However, Suning's performance was remarkable and at the end I would be happy with either team as the 2020 champion
Exactly my thought as well! I was rooting for LCK to take back the legacy they once had but after I witnessed Suning triumphed over LCS' 1st seed "Top Esports", I also acknowledged their capability. As the Worlds Finals finally rolled in, I'm no longer rooting for anyone and I'm just watching to witnessed a good game.

Honestly these worlds were hype from start to end. And for the first time in a long time, the finals was not a one-sided stomp, it was really close and back and forth until Suning started crumbling in the final games... Great storylines, great plays, great games, for the biggest esport tournament of 2020. And all of it was so anime. LGD almost getting out very early. The TCL, PCL and LCL rising up. Fnatic finding themselves after a split of shakiness. Suning bouncing back from an 0-3 performance against TES in LPL playoffs, snatching the first seed away from G2, taking down JDG and then TES. The stories of SwordArt and Karsa. And finally Damwon, the new generation of Korea, hated domestically, dominate the groups, take on G2 in a crushing revenge, and finally take the whole thing against the last Chinese team, ending the Chinese dynasty and bringing the trophy back to Korea. But not to Faker, Deft, Ruler, and the veterans; this trophy was won by the new generation of Korea.
Showmaker really looked up to faker tho. Faker 2017 finals defeat is one of his motivation to win worlds, he also used faker's skin everytime he plays Syndra.
From a gameplay point of view, I think this was one of the weakest worlds tho. A lot of the games were suprisingly kuite sleeper. The expected top teams didnt perform besides damwon to thier full potential and i don't even think Damwon was pushed this entire tournament since everyone they went against were either significantly worse than them or just underperforming. The only competetive series was the tes fnc series. Teams like jdg and tes massively underperformed. If you saw thier finals, you would know how insane these teams were and could possibly challenge dwg but that didnt happen.
I think this Worlds Championship was pretty great all things considered, and sometimes we romanticize the past Championships and overcriticize the present because there are very recent expectations that didn't feel met Play-Ins and Groups showed unique teams that were fun and unpredictable to watch even though some games weren't "top-tier" skill-wise. And there were definitely upsets and close games that were very hyped like Week 2 NA and G2 vs Suning and certain DragonX games In Knockout Stage I think most of the Top 8 were each at least somewhat memorable teams. G2 made a big determined statement, Suning surprised people by leveling up as a team, Fnatic showed the biggest strengths of their team, and Top showed that they still have World-class mechanical skill. There were lots of 3-1s obviously but I think each of them gave the losing team the opportunity to make some Worlds memories One of the main things I would criticize is that the meta often felt defined with several 90%+ presence champs. 3 plays that will be remembered forever. 1. spica 9 man sleep 2. Bin GP flank 3. Huanfeng jhin. p.s. It is so rare that a finalist team can be so entertaining and innovative that provided us with so many good games. Go SN. Can't wait to see you next year.
I don't get it, audience makes no noise for DWG during players presentation and at the trophy lifting ... During all worlds, there was offcourse a noise difference for the home crowd, but here was literally no noise for DWG. Chinese crowd so dissrespectfull during 10 year worlds LOL.
So fast they forgot fnatic was in the tournament apparently. Only a 4 seconds play, with weird editing so you can't even understand what was the play to begin with. Even 5th place from play-in have more screentime. Quite sad. Better wait few more hours and have something complete.
They really got to rework ornn. He's a Stat stick champ that actually has outplay potential. He was fine a patch or two after release before the overbuffs. Nobody in low elo wants to play him because he just feels bad but pros love him since he's just better due to having more stats and insane dmg
@@creedRL He's not a very difficult champion to play. Pretty much all the skill for him is game knowledge and team play. I'm an ornn main and he is mind numbingly easy, but unlike most Stat stick Champs he brings a lot to the table with his utility. Even though he isn't hard at all, with a strong team hes just ridiculous. This was shown exceptionally well during this world's as he was picked alot and when his team worked with him he just had to position well and all the enemies died while he took no damage
Tell that to Dr. Mundo. Remember the worlds before where they just use Dr. Mundo to tank 4 turrets? Ornn is good both on solo queue and pro play on the right hands. He has so much outplay potential and a playmaker kit
You can change that in your settings, go to Settings => Game or Video (I don't remember) then you can switch in and out with the contrast, gammas, all that.

It's been 11 years and this is the best champion world that I've ever seen. Being the best team in the LCK, trying to bring Korea back on top with their never-ending hunger for opponents, glory, and challenges(Also for the last lines, its them finishing as the best team in the best region, now they want to have a taste of the other region's best, a hunger for challenge to which they will be known about for years to come).
I'm just happy that SN and DWG were both competitive and likely to win in the Finals. Considering SN won Game 2 with Rengar and Fiora, I was absolutely fine with them being world champions.
I am glad that this year worlds 2020 was able to happen despite COVID 19 pandemic. This worlds 2020 is all about the underdogs where their disappointment last year became their motivation this year. Worlds 2020 Accomplishments: TES beat FNC, Reverse sweep 3-2 at quaterfinals! DWG beat G2, Fastest time in Worlds history 18:57 at semifinals game 4! DWG vs. Sunning, First pentakill at Worlds Finals (Fiora, game 2)!
I was shocked by the audience when DWG going to the trophy.
They literally went out the stadium WTF
“shanghai library”
LPL forgot there is also LCK lol 🤣🤣🤣
That's Chinese respect for you, which is why I'll never cheer for an LPL team. They just don't deserve to win as a region (not skill-wise).
2017 = Legends never die - legends died (end of SKT era)
2018 = Rise - LPL rose
2019 = Phoenix - Funplus Phoenix won
2020 = Takeover - LCK taking over
3 plays that will be remembered forever.
1. spica 9 man sleep
2. Bin GP flank
3. Huanfeng jhin.
p.s. It is so rare that a finalist team can be so entertaining and innovative that provided us with so many good games.
Go SN. Can't wait to see you next year.
I'll add the Fiora penta and Caps' insane Sylas outplay
@@Alex-wh4qt Showmakers outplay against G2 was superb.
I don't get it, audience makes no noise for DWG during players presentation and at the trophy lifting ...
During all worlds, there was offcourse a noise difference for the home crowd, but here was literally no noise for DWG.
Chinese crowd so dissrespectfull during 10 year worlds LOL.
What do you expect from these salty communists?
What do you expect? They also didnt announce covid19 not until they already got a vaccine..
thats why in term of audience.. eu and na.. is the best.. they're energy and hype.. is crazyyy
someone on twitter said that chinese are taught and made to not cheer for any other country apart from china and that happens in other esports too.
cuz if Chinese cheer for other foriegn country, not china, the goverment will watch them closely, judging to send them to jail or not.
The "silence Shanghai" part is so real. 💀
The person who made this video should definitely get a raise - this was SO well done.
I hope they will make one for this worlds I lloved these so much
Anazing, will be still in my memories
Thats a fast editing
They were probably doing it as the tournament went on.
They just need to add the finals
The video seems quite biased though :(
So fast they forgot fnatic was in the tournament apparently. Only a 4 seconds play, with weird editing so you can't even understand what was the play to begin with. Even 5th place from play-in have more screentime. Quite sad.
Better wait few more hours and have something complete.
This was pre-edited obviously.
7:44
That's exactly what happened.
Literally no cheers from the crowd just claps and if there were cheers it was barely noticeable.
Opening Tease Propaganda Dude: 'China is the strongest'
Damwon Gaming + LCK: 'Look at you come at my name you oughta know~ by~ now~'
4 years later and that tank Rengar is SO SICK
Ornn is so popular in World's but he have only 1 Skin xD
Sett is newer and got more haha
They really got to rework ornn. He's a Stat stick champ that actually has outplay potential. He was fine a patch or two after release before the overbuffs.
Nobody in low elo wants to play him because he just feels bad but pros love him since he's just better due to having more stats and insane dmg
@@aetriandimitri190 Or because Pro players actually knows how to play him? and he also provides alot of utility to the team
Kai'sa was released after Ornn and has 2 prestige skins.
And Nuguri is choosing Kennen for the worlds skin :(
My favorite part of worlds, is when you make this compilation, it's excited!!!!
The Unkillable Demon King silently observing.
I wish the map looked the same way. That much darker tone really helps the champs stick out. I REALLY like it!
You can change that in your settings, go to Settings => Game or Video (I don't remember) then you can switch in and out with the contrast, gammas, all that.
Damwon gaming looks like the season 3 skt yesterday
What a great filming thank you LoL Esports
"Damwon will silence Shanghai". That's my favourite line ☺️
It’s like when rng made Busan a library
After 4 years, Sofm is back
Everyone: We miss the cheering crowds!
Shanghai stadium: Well well well, looks like someone needs to be taught a lesson!
god man idk how riots gonna top the vibe from worlds last year. maybe it was just me but man i LOVED the aesthetic
Suning has 2 Insane Rookies being regulars and already getting through the finals. Mark my words if they ever qualify next LPL then they're gonna take it all.
It's been 11 years and this is the best champion world that I've ever seen.
IT is the revenge of LCK to LEC (when G2 continuously take an overall team of LCK, especially GEN in this year)
IT is the risen of supper teams (Damwon, Sunning, DRX,...) and transform of old one (TSM) when his midland has retired.
IT is the fighting between Karsa and Swordart, all of them deserve with the champion trophy.
IT is hope for the young generation about the new area (maybe new Faker).
Congratulations Riot! well done
4:33 literally gave me goosebumps 😳😳😳
7:00 : "I got the heart of a lion, I know the higher you climbing the harder you fall" - SN being the 3rd seed of LPL taking down all LPL teams in Knockouts but still fails to reach victory at the final hurdle in the Finals
7:07 : "I had to weather the storm just to get to the level I'm on, that's how the legend was born, all of my enemies already dead, I'm bored, I'm ready for more, they know I'm ready for war, I told em" - DWG not stopping in becoming the best team in the LCK since their promotion from Challengers, making a name for themself even way before being introduced in the big stage.
6TH TITLES FOR LCK
The editing makes it more amazing added with great hype from the casters. Worlds 2020 is one of the best. 💪
Damwon was a top 3 team of all time
Damwon 2019-21 was for sure in top5 teams oat. I would also say:
skt 2015-2017
tigers 2015-16
samsung 2016-17
g2 2019-20
ig 2018-19
rng 2021-22
Best worlds ever and the strongest teams playing against each other, there was no boring game
Congratulation Korean fans we will get you next time!
No
Swordarts smile :) I like it when they aren't trying so hard to be tough in those hype videos
Can't wait next year to be better with audience and better opening
This is the best Moments and Memories video ever
Who’s here after watching the most disappointing Worlds 2021 Moments & Memories.
ME. That was the worst editing ever.
I'm just happy that SN and DWG were both competitive and likely to win in the Finals. Considering SN won Game 2 with Rengar and Fiora, I was absolutely fine with them being world champions.
Shanghai Library
By: Showmaker and friends
Such great editing and production. Much impress.
I love how they desperately wanted to put some TSM play in there too, but the only one they could find was the 9 man sleep lol
I am glad that this year worlds 2020 was able to happen despite COVID 19 pandemic. This worlds 2020 is all about the underdogs where their disappointment last year became their motivation this year. SN vs TOP showed us that giants can be taken down and DWG vs G2 showed us that hardwork and effort is the only key to success. Although SN gaming lost this year in worlds, their story is remembered for years to come. As for DWG, we will see in the future.
EYES ON WORLDS DAMWON WHEN???????????//
Waiting for 2021 memories
Tease guy: “It’s time to take over”
DWG: yes but no.
everytime I watch those eyes of Showmaker I see the fire of the Phoenix blazing like to the eyes and determination of Faker!
LCS have more exposure in groups than the whole LCK kwek
TSM 9 MAN SLEEP one of the best memories so far
Rip swordart, you gave it your all buddy
Really enjoyed this, please make more like this! Great story telling through the clips!

4:33 The sound of jhin ult right before the drop is an eargasm to listen to
Thank u Riot. Thank u Shanghai. Thank you all the teams come to China. See u next year.
They really said these young people all grew up watching LCS on the latter years.
were GenG or Fnatic even at the tournament ? literally no clips from groups here ok
So stupid tbh. NA had more clips than GenG and Fnatic lol.
Holy I can feel the hype even after the end of it. Really micro video!! Maybe next time put some more contents from the finals
we need double elimination next year so we can get more spicy match ups
I like this format, its show up or shut up atm. Double elim would be fun too tho
too much games, u cant put worlds on two months
Double elimination is a loser format.
@@bendovbloch7630 i think the current group format is just fine, the knock out stage is the one that should be changed, they should copy the TI format so there will be more series and to avoid instances where teams from the same region will be grouped in one bracket only
@@안개검정 i so agree with you. teams already have weeks to practice and also have multiple chances to win since it's a best of 5. If you look at all sports tournaments, none of them has a double elimintaion
2020 was probably the most hype with huge upsets and big plays
most upsets? I mean only thing I would consider a big upset on these worlds would be SN beating TOP. and play-inns but that doesnt really count
@@george6397 Honestly, TOP and JDG underperforming were the biggest disappointments of this tournament. Not to take away from Dining though. They really leveled up.
Khan : 4 Chinese can’t win
bcs,suning,bad adc , if uzi~ wow
Khan knew everything lol
I think I witnessed the most competitive Worlds Finals in years . DWG / Sunning.
Recent Worlds song in a nutshell:
2017 - Legends never die - hints at faker's downfall literally
2018 - Rise: indicates the rise of a new team or a new region aka lpl
2019 - Phoenix: the song is literally abt fpx who ended up winning
2020 - Take over: korea literally takes over worlds after 2 years
Can't wait for 2021, "Avenging the Fallen" a viking metal song about Ragnarok and slaying them all (the competition in a non-deadly way).
Dang, this brought literal chills
06:04 This is a DAMENANNYO in Worlds
Machine's voice over is so awesome!
When they were going through the quarter finals they didn't show and dwg and drx lol
because that was just sad for drx because they had to face dwg in first knockout stage. grabbz (g2 head coach) said drx beat g2 12-0 in scrims. other teams had similar results against them. if they had a different opponent other than dwg they couldve gone a lot further, but now their run will be largely forgotten.
Coming back to this after T1 make it to worlds while Gold2 is out for Worlds Contention 😂😂😂

Thank you Riot Games for giving us such a show during these hard times. See you next year !
I’m rooting for SofM and Suning, but i must admit those crowds from Shanghai last night were terrible. If they didn’t cheer for DW then at least should have chanted TSM for fun lol. Also want to point out that they almost went silent when caster was introducing SwordArt, wanna know why? Because he’s Taiwanese. Man, those crowds were badddd.
