I was in the Sandringham Suite, Q1, on the starboard side over the summer of 2011. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Many thanks indeed for providing such a detailed glimpse into two of the most exclusive suites onboard QM2. This i very helpful in understanding what current luxury accommodation consists of with Cunard and can be compared to other lines, which pale in comparison. I'd love to travel aboard her, along with QV and QE for a Mediterranean cruise. Thanks again and I hope the voyage was most enjoyable.

this is epic lol... I've never seen anyone actually combine these. Interesting how large the buffer is between the connecting doors, which probably haven't been opened since this was made.

Idea. There is a mirror image to this suite on board, called ‘sandringham’. While the occupants are asleep, switch them around, with all their belongings. Each will wake up in a suite which is a mirror image to the other. Let’s see if they freak out.

You can book all the aft facing suites and have the connecting doors opened to create a giant full width suite.

That dialect sounds like lottery money from the mid or southwest. Old money might also be ostentatious, but not like that.
I've always liked the deck 4 hull balconies nearer the waterline, and the fabulous Britannia Restaurant. I prop the door open slightly on calmer days to hear the hiss of the ocean, which is what being on a liner is all about. I guess the suites would be nice for world or extended journeys, but it seems like too much unused space, and then there is the downer of having to leave it.

How he paid for these suites is irrelevant. The point of the video was to show both penthouses. I saw no pomposity - though I have to admit, Don Q1 is smoking hot and I really enjoyed seeing his feet :-)

When you have the plan of the QM2 on cunard.com, it is easier to follow this.
The way to travel on the Queen Mary 2 is to take the Balmoral duplex and Windsor suite together, opening the connecting doors to form one large residence. The nearest penthouse should also be taken. All three of these doors are conveniently near each other in the corridor (Sandringham/Buckingham will also work, if you do not mind a mirror image of your regular digs).
The ground floor of Balmoral has an extension with a desk that will do for an office. A slightly longer table can be put in the main place for private dining, poker, baccarat, or anything like that. There are enough sofas and armchairs about the place for visitors. A kitchen is not needed as the room service is excellent, the private bar is adequate, however the company must see about putting in a lift to supplement the stairs.
The upstairs of Balmoral will be the main bedroom. This has a spacious bath and shower room, and walk in closet with room for several changes of formal wear, suiting for less formal occasions, and informal gear for excursions ashore and visits to other areas of the ship.
The downstairs of Windsor is attached to the downstairs of Balmoral by a connecting door. This gives several ways to use the space. As it is easy to access from Balmoral, it can be turned into a regular den by instructing the management to add a few capacious overstuffed leather armchairs and side tables. If you wish to restrict smoking in the residence, it can also be made into a smoking room. Or if you wish a really private office/work/conference space, you can use the desk in here. Any or all of these. As always, your wishes will prevail.
The upstairs of Windsor is a bedroom. This has a connecting door with your main bedroom, the upstairs bedroom in Balmoral. This makes the Windsor one handy for a changing-room. The bulk of the wardrobe can be kept in here, making it easy for the valet, or lady’s maid, to lay out your things as previously instructed. They can enter and leave by the Windsor main door downstairs (keep this in mind when planning to use the space as per the previous paragraph), no need for the Balmoral residents to see them at all if they are not needed. Used clothes and linen can be thrown into this room on the bed as well, so as to keep Balmoral tidy.
The penthouse (9.076 or 9.067, depending on the configuration you have chosen) will be the servant’s quarters. This is also a useful place to store empty luggage for the trip. If you travel with both a valet and a lady’s maid, it may be necessary to book the next room as well (9.074 or 9.065) so as to avoid scandal. However, telling the agency to book a husband-and-wife team will avoid this extra expense.
I hope this helps you plan a pleasant crossing, or cruise.
P.S. There is a ‘hidden’ door in the upper part of Windsor; easy enough to see, but does not appear on the deck plan. Same for Balmoral. They both go out to the tenth level, and this is the connection between the two suite bedrooms at the upper level. The description above did not make this clear.

Thankyou for illustrating the possibilities when combining these suites. My idea was to book the Balmoral together with the Windsor, Holyrood & Buckingham and berth six travel companions in the latter three, reserving the Balmoral for the fare payer common to all seven travelers. The six companions can share the three double berths in the Windsor, Holyrood & Buckingham without issue. Can the Balmoral's dining table accommodate seven for in room meals?
What's interesting is that the butlery is larger in the Windsor, Holyrood & Buckingham than it is in the Balmoral.

@@visionist7 No, the round table will have to be removed from Balmoral, and replaced with a proper dinner table, to seat eight.
Also, the line should install some internal lifts.

  • @underland1983
    @underland1983 13 років тому

Wow the balmoral suites at Queen Mary 2 must be bigger than the loftsuites at Oasis and Allure of the seas. I meen it must be the biggest suites at sea ever. I"ve seen the suites at RCCL ships and they are way much smaller nothing can compere to this. It"s like I tell my friends Emirates airlines belong to the air and Cunard to the sea. Emirates got airbus A 380 and Cunard got Queen Mary 2.
