Hi, I was toimen this game.
I had some thoughts I wanted to share:
1. I'm glad you liked my emote game. You mentioned before in a video that you weren't a huge fan of bming and emoting so I tried not to overdo it.
2. You guessed correctly that I just reached Master 1 and you're a huge part of how I got to that point. I started watching your videos as a bronze room player trying to improve. I learned a lot of good advice while dropping bad habits, so a huge thank you for being my inspiration!
3. Thank you for the feedback regarding my hand in East 2 Repeat 1. I definitely could've played that better. I think the mistake happened turn 8 when I drew the 7m. I had a red 5m in my and wanted to make use of it, but I also needed a pair so I was looking to discard something from my 223444p shape. Thinking back, I probably should've discarded the 2p.
4. Lastly, your mahjong-related humor has gotten my fired from my job because I was laughing so much. However, I feel no regret in my heart because of the sheer amount of joy that it has brought me.

I'm really happy that the videos could help and that the feedback was useful! To be fair I often end up with 223444-ish shapes and I legitimately struggle with whether to "secure the pair" or go for maximum flexibility.

Picasso would often pay for meals/items by making small drawings instead of using cash, saying he was Picasso and it was a great deal. For an example of artist insecurity, Yu Song found maybe the one artists in history with complete self confidence. If only Yu had studied abroad in France he may have known.

For the 49:17 hand, the player was waiting on the 3-6s, and the 6s was genbutsu for the player in riichi, so they went dama because if anyone tried to fold against the riichi with the 6s (or 3s, is also suji), they could win. Maybe they waited for their toimen to riichi because then the 6s would no longer be safe against both riichis so they might as well. I dunno, but that might probably be what they are thinking
idk tho, would have instantly chased too lol

49:35 Yes agreed. Would have reasoned the same way and I think I would have slammed the like and subscribe button discarding 3s. A fairly good wait, 3s being suji and nothing about 5s feeling particularly safe. Might as well go for it. Can understand damaten discarding 3s but damaten discarding 5s feels like such a weird compromise to me I'm unsure if the risk-reward of it makes much sense for the risk you're willing to take discarding 5s just so you can win with a 2 han hand that won't change the point standing all that much.
