- As I Lay Dying is this year's William Faulkner shared read for #FaulknerinAugust2024
Join me and the other hosts in a ftiendly Voxer group discussion of this fascinating and influential novel from 1930. There should be a good mix of Faulkner aficionados and Faulkner newbies.
My Voxer identity is rcook2207 to ask to join.
Your hosts are below and announcement videos are popping up now. You can also expect a video or two about the book in August from most of the hosts and you could make one too if you have a channel.

I’m so excited for August to roll around again!
@@HannahsBooks me too. I am not sure I got the most out of AILD when I read it years ago.
Nice announcement, Roz. You know I’ll be joining you again this August. Looking forward to it.
@@suzannenoel3610 looking forward to being in it together again.
This was my first Faulkner and I found it brilliant. I loved how the story is told. I like this style of storytelling. I like puzzles.
@@knittingbooksetc.2810 it is like an enjoyable puzzle. Great way to express the pleasure of this sort of writing.
Thanks for the summary Roz. Just picked up a copy & this will be my first Faulkner read.
@@ExtraT82 that's splendid news Erin.
Thank you, Roz, so.much 🎉 What an excellent announcement video 🤠
@@bighardbooks770 I am particularly enthusiastic this year.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 Glad to hear it: me, too!
I have not read any Faulkner yet so this group read is perfect. My copy arrives tomorrow. I am really looking forward to reading this book and the discussions. And the fact it is on a banned book list here in (which just astounds me that banning a book even is a thing) makes it even more intriguing. Thank you, Roz.
@@Carols_BooksandFibers very happy you are joining us.
I'm excited to join in. I have always wanted to read a Faulkner.
@@ariannefowler455 great one to choose for a first as quintessentially him.
I very recently decided I really want to read As I Lay Dying and I’m so excited to find there is a read along happening for it! Yay!
@@karlalikestoread wonderful.
100% tempted. Hannah has instructed me to create a Voxer account, which I have done. Will be in touch - thank you Ros
@@heathereads and now you're in. Brilliant!
So excited! This will be my fifth or sixth time to read this book and I’m sure I’ll see something new. It’s a great family story…sad, funny, surprising, scary, heartbreaking, etc. I love it.
@@DebMcDonald wow, fifth or sixth? You should have lots to bring to the discussion.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 I was lucky enough to live in New Orleans for many years and it’s a 6 hour drive from there to Oxford, Mississippi where Faulkner lived. The town has reading festivals all the time that are inexpensive and during the summer you could stay in a dorm room. Many authors live in the area. It’s a great 3 or 4 day program often using Faulkner’s home for some events.
I think I’m in! 😊
@@MIDDLEoftheBookMARCH ooh that's good news Kim.
This is a good book. Everyone should read it no matter if they like that book in the end or not. No doubt, it is a classic and valued contribution to people interested in Woolf and Joyce.
@@AmalijaKomar glad to hear you think it is a good choice.
Oh this sounds interesting! I have been meaning to read this one for a long time, it sounds like a group read would be beneficial ❤
@@SelinaAllinson should I add you to the Voxer group?
@@scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 Yes please Ros :)
It's an interesting book! I'm considering a re-read. Peace.
@@jeremyfee do join us if you decide to go for the reread.
Great announcement. I forgot that As I Lay Dying had been banned.
@@anotherbibliophilereads thanks Greg. You set a high standard.
I remember that I read this in an excellent Hemingway/Faulkner seminar I took in college (your university). But that was eons ago. I’m tempted to join you for a reread!
@@pattorelli3451 it would be lovely if you joined us Pat.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 I just signed up on Voxer. My identity is pattor if you would be good enough to invite me to join the group. Thanks, Ros!
