If you'd have told me 3 years ago that I would one day watch rug cleaning videos on UA-cam I would have said you were nuts. But there's something so satisfying in seeing an old rug come back to life. Well done!
The artistry in making a carpet like this is incredible, but it's also clear just how durable and tough they are, to take this degree of washing and not split or disintegrate. Great job guys.
I can't believe how fascinating it is to watch a rug being cleaned. Beautiful rug, it looks fantastic once cleaned, and I love the thorough job done on it and the attention to detail. Well done - it's brilliant. :)
I'd just like to add that a couple of years ago I bought what I thought was a Turkish rug on line from a British carpet company. The name Kardastan sounded familiar so I checked it last night and found that my rug is the same name and that the Kardastan company is in North Carolina...which solves the puzzle of why it was shipped from NC to Britain! Coincidentally, my son and d-i-l live in NC, and another odd coincidence is that when the company started they repurposed Axminster looms for their rugs. I live just down the road from Axminster, where they still make carpets!!! Talk about synchronicity. My pale blue rug is so magical I keep expecting it to fly away any day now, lol! :)
THIS is why a wool rug is an investment; with proper home care (turning it, time spent vacuuming) and a Pro wash every decade, a wool rug will last for over a century. Great work guys.
Ive become addicted to these videos as a calming alternative to watching co tinual sad news about ukraine. When it gets too much i just watch you clean a rug and i feel much better. Thank you x
This proves to me I was always right about wall to wall carpeting! Area rugs are the only way to go. I don’t know about waiting this long to have them washed though. 👍🏻
Glad to see you treat the back of the carpet as carefully as you did the front. A lot of people think it not necessary but I think it is important as well. Keep up the meticulous work!
There is not a doubt in my mind that that lovely old rug was as clean as new when you were finished. Not every rug cleaner is as careful as you are to do that. I love the attention you paid to the fringe. I also love that you clean the back so well. When watching others do what you do, I almost always feel that they are not rinsing well enough. With yours, I'm never yelling at my computer "didn't you notice the soap suds streaks that are still there!"🙂
Amazing video - almost hypnotic! Hey, do you guys wear hearing protection when you're working with that noisy equipment? If not, please consider doing so. Hearing loss from repeated exposure to industrial noise is a real thing, and best to prevent or minimise it as much as possible.
As a classically trained upholsterer I found this very interesting. Would the rug hanging to dry over a roll not cause it to create a memory where it touches the roll and would flat suction drying not be a better way to speed up the drying process and not stretch the rug as opposed to wet hanging?
I think you have the most rewarding energy. Taking something that have been so lovingly created, and return it to it's original beauty, is awesome. Thank you and God bless
Don’t you just love it when the boss comes in to not only watch you work and not participate himself, but also film it and offer empty praise Thanks boss

wow! intense work cleaning those carpets. I used to formulate detergents for Von Shrader carpet cleaners. Not stripping out any dye/pigments is the delicate feature for such cleaning and a lot of people are careless about it. nice to see such quality work
So insanely satisfying watching this carpet getting cleaned. It certainly is a beautiful carpet, I love the colors. You guys did an excellent and thorough job of cleaning and giving another life to this cherished carpet. Keep up the good work. Your reputation will travel and your business will do well.
I was wondering how many people have such rugs - enough to warrant all the obvious business investment they've made - maybe they'll match their profits w their channel 😝
I was stunned by the amount of time it took for you guys to whip this rug back into shape. This shouldn't be called simply cleaning, but partial restoration. I love doing that kind of work of taking something that someone discarded as ruined, and restore it to its original glory. Great job!
This one was quite clean. Few years back, I tried to get my entrance carpet clean, I mean to se water clear. It was washed before many timers, but regular, just few waters, obviously last water not being clear. So I just left it in the bath tub, with detergent few days, next I worked it with my feet every day, while taking the shower. After a month the water still was really dirty. I could not continue so I stopped. Next time I shoved in the washing machine, barely fit. And like a moron, without looking at it, I run three times the longest program. In the end the water still poured black out of the machine, but the damn carpet was done. half disintegrated. Of course, not expensive, just regular, synthetic thing. However, being that type with a lot of short vertical fiber, really captured a lot of dust. But what amazed me, it was that the dirt still clung in there wash after wash.
I've stumbled across several carpet cleaning videos and I've got to say. I much prefer the way these guys clean, almost like an ocd thing with me. I feel it's much more thorough and the techniques are exactly what I was critiquing on the other videos
I'm reading a 19th century, murder-mystery novel; I paused to watch a UA-cam video on hermits living in the Idaho backcountry, and now here I am, watching some guys clean a dirty rug. A fine Saturday evening!
Great viewing - therapeutic. How do you prevent fugitive or un-fixed dyes from moving around during the cleaning process and bleeding into other areas of the rug? Reds are notorious for bleeding into light coloured areas. Do you apply some sort of dye-fixing reagent before cleaning? The volume of water used is cleaning one rug is also large - do you recycle the water?
Great Questions! With Karastan rugs they are color fast. So we do not use any color stabilizers. Acetic vinegar is a product we use on Rugs that are bad bleeders and even then some fugitive dyes can run. Some rugs don’t take nearly the amount of water most of the rugs we post are very dirty!
I like how you go the extra wash and extra rinse to move out the dirt. Your expertise shows through with the beautiful, bright and clean carpet plus brushing the fringe. Thanks for sharing. Be safe.
When I was 16, I got fired from the first job I ever had because my boss set me to clean a rug much like this one and then left. I don't know why he would think I knew what I was doing, but of course I think I ended up ruining it. That was a great lesson to me in the value of communication.

Okay, I HAVE to comment on this video... I've seen my fair share of UA-cam carpet cleaning videos for some (relaxing?) reason, but this one beats all of them just by the way it is cleaned.
