This race was a big "fuck you" to the industry/media who actually questioned if he could be successful after Honda. When bikes actually required the riders skill the Doctor stood alone unmatched.

The Honda had more 'top end' power, as show by Biaggi passing under poer at the end of the long straight. NOT under braking as stated in the commentary. The Yamaha is renowned for having a better handling chassis, enabling Rossi to overtake in the corners. Rossi was also better at managing tyre wear, though I seem to recall seeing an image of the right side of his front tyre, which was completely mullered. QED. He REALLY wanted to be Biaggi that day.

    Rossi at its absolute best!
In 2003, the Yamaha team and its satellite riders had not won a single race that year. Many doubted Rossi's move to the Yamaha team because of this and thought Biaggi or Gibernau were going to win the title in 2004 given how the Honda's were utterly superior last year.
He proved all his critics wrong, fought bravely with Biaggi, stayed ahead of the Honda's *and* won that year's title, proving to everyone that he's not just good because of the Honda but because The Doctor is just so very skilled at what he does.
Hey Marquez, take notes, and try not to bump anyone off the track this time around!

This is why Rossi is the GOAT, everybody knows Marquez is the best in the world right now but until he wins on a different manufactures bike there will always be the question can he do it, is he really as good as Vale? That’s why I still considered Rossi The Greatness of All Time. How about that pure emotion at the end!👌💪🏆🏍
