Nice video. I have to say, people who aren't around it, don't understand it, will never be able to stop with their negativity. They don't understand that the trucks need to be driven, the pumps need to be run, the hoses need stretched on occasion. I was doing some driving orientation a few months back with a new person on my dept. and heard some snippy remarks about how we were out joyriding. My question to the naysayers is, how are people supposed to learn the equipment if they don't operate it, or how are they supposed to learn their district if they don't go drive in it? People like "lewiable" can never understand what happens in the world we live. They have no concept of what police, fire, and EMS men and women go through. They think all we do is put the wet stuff on the red stuff. They don't see the hours of training, the constant refresher courses, the numerous technical specialties firefighters go through, i.e. extrication, rescue, high angle rope, inspectors, investigators, instructors, etc. They don't, and could never understand the camaraderie that is built between crews such as this video. They will never know the hardships we truly face and will always be critical. They lack the ability to comprehend or the compassion for the heart breaking events we see and deal with...and no, maybe not even on a daily basis, but I have yet to meet a firefighter, police officer, or EMS worker who hasn't been affected in one way or another. Pulling up to an accident scene in the middle of the night and realizing you know the person who owns the car, doing everything you can for a person and knowing deep down the outcome will not be good, the agony of being handed a lifeless child; knowing that the child is gone but running the code anyway. People not exposed to it can never understand the incredible burden that can weigh down on those of us who give our time, blood, sweat, and tears to help those people who need it. They think we sleep, eat, watch tv, and once in awhile spray some water out of a hose. They have their right to believe that and will never come do a ride along, will never come watch a training, will never volunteer their own time, will bitch at every opportunity, and will sit at home leaving negative comments on youtube because that is all they have in life. They don't have the capability, selflessness, or fortitude to put others before themselves. They will say we drive to fast and then complain that it took us too long if they call. They will try to disparage our careers and everything we strive to accomplish all while giving nothing of themselves. There is no arguing with them, there is no educating them, there is no changing their attitude. We go on our way, day after day, seeing some of the the worst of humanity and lean on each other because nobody else can truly understand. Stay safe out there.
You said it all. Great job of stating what you all go through day in and day out. My dad was a captain of my home town's FD they practiced putting out house fires as often as they could. This was in the 60's, 70's and early 80's until he retired. I remember him coming home from work in the steel mills barely having time to shower, change his clothes and grab two bites of the dinner we sat down to eat before his radio went off for a call. He'd be gone for hours come home sooty and smelling of smoke but we were proud of what he did. God bless all emergency responders everywhere.
Well said. Its why one of my favorite trainings is when we drive all the apparatus around the districts to make sure they all work, we know the roads, and the hydrant locations etc.
Part of our D/O training is just taking the rig out for a drive around the response area. Not only does it get you hours but also helps you feel more comfortable finding obscure roads when you get a real run. Totally agree.
This is absolutely adorable and sweet. My husband had a very similar proposal three years ago. He showed up to the restaurant I was at in full bunker gear with the ladder truck, pumper and ambulance. I am glad this was captured on video and you shared it! Best of luck! What an adorable couple!
congrats to the both of you guys.. your video made me tear up.. i was rooting for her to say yes.. and when she did i screamed "yes!" i hope i find someone as sweet as you and would go out on a limb to make this day precious! stay safe out there brother * i work for the fire department as well*
To all those who say they shouldn't have done this they run into a building while it's on fire to save people's lives even if they where stupid and started the fire and have to train in all that heavy gear run up and down stairs in it carry a 200 lb dummy out and take it back down again they deserve to have a little fun
Congrats to the both of you guys your video made me tear up I was rooting for her to say yes and when she did I screamed yes I hope I find someone as sweet as you and would go out on a limb to make this day stay safe out there
And unfortunately we have to add four more firefighters who died in Houston today trying to make sure all the people were out of a burning hotel. Our firefighters are brave, selfless, and caring people. Their only thought is to save others while putting their lives on the line. Austin T, I think so highly of you and your fellow firefighter brothers and sisters. My heart goes out to the families of those firefighters who died today in the Houston fire. Thank you for all you do.
Its so romantic!!! It made me cry too omg :"'"'''""")))) Best wishes to the happy couple and for the record, I SALUTE U.S. FIREFIGHTERS!!!!! You guys do a wonderful job saving lives and risking your own :) Keep up the good work and a big thank you from me :)
I'm only 20 and joined as a volunteer firefighter and I absolutely love it. Yes I get paid but its much more then that its having the chance to know u can save someone's life and be a hero
How wonderful. Congrats. I'm so happy for the both of you. Thanks for sharing your happiness with the rest of us. May your marriage always be blessed. Thank you firefighters for your dedication, selflessness, time and bravery. Stay safe.
Congratulations you two!!..Ive seen alot of proposals but this one BY FAR is the cutest Ive seen in quite some time...Where's the fire???...haha...Again Congratulations brother firefighter!
its funny that I scroll through the comments and find one a-hole ruining this with negativity. thank you to every firefighter that saves people and does this duty and congrats to this guy
You are absolutely correct, it is quite safe behind that hose. And I'm not saying we are heroes. But when that call comes where a family is trapped in a fire. Any one of us firemen/women would gladly leave the safety of the hose to rescue them. And the fact of the matter is not every one is willing to do that. So to all the firemen/women who are willing, they have my respect.
That's so awesome!!!! I wanna be a fireman and I never thought of that. I'm using the fire truck to drive away in after the wedding lol. This is sweet and creative.
it's ashame that the firemen / firewomen, police, doctors, military, and teachers don't get paid the same amount like professional athletes, and TV stars. anyways, god bless u all and thank you for your service!
How could you say that firefighting is not a dangerous job, I believe the me and the rest of the men and women that put their lives on the line deserve some respect!
Congrats brother from a foremer Fishers FF and current memeber of Maine FD in NY. THis is awesome I was watching and I was like wait a minute Pumpkin Hook that has to be Farmington. I alos have attended your carnival several times. Congrats again brother. P.S. I will be up in Victor nexst week would love to swing over and check out your station and maybe (if its allowed) purchase a tshirt from u guys.
Just because Firefighters have protective clothing doesn't mean that they are immune to the flames. It takes a special person to be a firefighter, to be willing to wake up at any hour of the night to come to the aid of a person in need. Every single day that a firefighter goes to work he/she must face the reality of dying that day, in my opinion that takes a special kind of person, the kind of person that you obviously aren't...
"she's outside" "then pull a line" Priceless
He has some good friends now because they had to lay all that hose back
I was just thinking the SAME thing, uhhh battalion chief it was a "Training exercise" that's why we stole the apparatus
So funny
I'd only be mad if Cap said to triple lay it on scene. Lol
😂
This comment wins 😂
"Tell her there was a meth lab in the basement. She'll believe that!" hahahahaha, this was so cute!
"where's the fire?", "right there!" lol, congrats

thank you for your service! I am a worn out firefighter from S.C.and miss it everyday!!! I gave 14yrs and got sick...God bless you!
Amazing idea man I love it. Even to the extent if pulling a line extremely well done. Big props to a fire service brother. FF's to the end.
A decade on and this is still one of the smoothest proposals I've ever seen. I hope they are still together and still happy!

Well said. Its why one of my favorite trainings is when we drive all the apparatus around the districts to make sure they all work, we know the roads, and the hydrant locations etc.
If firefighters beat the engines like cops beat up there cars the city will be broke
Probably the most nervous he's ever been pulling up on scene.
Too awesome, love this video.
