Looks good Mower Junkie. I heard you on the air saying you had just modified this antenna and IF that was what you were talking on it was doing a great job.

One of the most underrated antenna's in the business. I built one from spare aluminum and it's and amazing performer over any vertical. Plus, it's uber lightweight and can be installed on any rotor.

On the Maco the radials act as the counterpoise rather than earth / ground. I think this in effect forms a barrier from electrical noise below, ie. your house. Where the beam has nothing between the elements and the house as such. This was good to know! I wonder how a loop would act in these conditions above the house, loops are supposed to be quieter, probably because they are so finely tunes with the capacitor but also due to their narrow radiation pattern.
The Maco looks interesting but would rather see someone trying a Big Mac. One day i will like to try to replicate a Big Mac or something similar. One goal i have is to build a 4 way log arimithic array for wideband or a rhomboid. Takes real estate though. To see a wideband antenna with 12db of gain would be amazing!

Hello Mower Junkie, This is Steve, Kb3hay. Yes I am a Ham but I also got my start in CB Radio,11 Meters and I still am active there. I go by 18 south central Pennsylvania and my handle is Grizzly. I wanted to just let you know that I love your channel and since they opened up FM and you have a couple radios that do FM like the Anytone 5555,The calling channel for FM is 26.805fm and there is a FM group that is there and there head guy is in Canada. I think if you go to the Facebook group page, you can join them, you don't have to, to be able to go there and try to make contacts with people. I have made contacts there all over Canada and the US. I would love to be able to DX you and have a QSO. I have been a subscriber to your channel for at least 3 years now and this is my first time posting here. You made a very nice 2 element beam and the way you made it work horizontal and vertical is just incredible. Great job!! Take care and hope to talk to you soon on the bands! Steve.. kb3hay... That'll be great when u get that back up in the air! But I'm also curious abt something else...there's no doubt, that MACO's a great antenna, but I wonder if u've ever compared it to an IMAX 2000 (or the updated version of it)? I've had an old IMAX for many years, so I'm now trying to decide between getting the updated version or a MACO like u have(?)🤓🇺🇸

I've never owned an IMax, But I know a lot of people that have owned both, the IMax and the Maco V58, All of them have told me they will never use an IMax again. The IMax is an easy to assemble antenna, But the Maco will give you better performance.

Noisy on flatside? That is harsh. The rotator control wire may need some ferrite rings at connection points, or power supply situation is worn. Try finding voltage it needs and run rotator on a battery, lipo or lead/acid bucket.
