This is one of the BEST songs they've ever made, i've listened to it like a MILLION times and i'm still not bored of it! Horrible Histories rules!!!xxx
Probably much other people from the US haven't watch this clip because horrible histories is a British programme. But it is weird because it's music is out of New York.
I'm American and I love these sketches. But I only found them a month or 2 ago. If other Americans don't like it, it's probably because of the difference in humor styles. Those of us who enjoy dry (British) humor are in the minority. It's sad how many people don't get sarcasm.
I thought I'd checked that thoroughly! Anyway, her ...... anyway. She's an excellent actress and really clever in this ... but they are all good! Oh dear blush-blush !!
I just love their songs, their parodies are just too catchy! I think this is fast becoming my fav along with 'King of Bling'. Would love to have this as ringtones lol
Such an awesome song! The history of my birthplace, and mentions my hometown (as I think of it) at the end! Also, has really good music and good rhyming. And, as ever, with HH
Their parodies of well-known songs get better. They started with certain ways of presenting the song (e.g. Westlife-style for 'Born 2 Rule') and have got into the depths of actually making parodies that are not only hilarious because, like this, are puns, but also incredibly informative and make learning about it all, fun. I love this program. It's brilliant for younger ones but also very funny and interesting for adults too. Who'd have thought a kids' history show would be family viewing?
The bond between them is so strong by this point, Larry and Ben had already shown them the script for Bill and Ben and Mat were working on Yonderland at this point. I love how happy Simon is in these videos at this point...He just loves being with them all...Whatever issue he had with Larry to begin with has been forgiven and he is in this troupe, which allows him to write and develop his screen writing skills.
The string of posts you just wrote are the most sensible comments I've ever seen on UA-cam. I'm also sick and tired of people oversimplifying the past. A lack of understanding is tearing our society apart. Besides, I'd like to know what these people that ridicule British settlement in the Americas would have done if they were born in New England in 1700. Would they really abandon the only home they knew and leave outright, assuming they had the money to do so? The answer is most likely "no."
You could ask around, but from I'm guessing, their might have not known how to hunt, and plus people do CRAZY stuff if their get hungry or thirsty enough, there's a story about two guys who gotten lost in the desert, their ended up drinking motor oil out desperation.
I think they all make great rapers.... It reminds me of aeroplanes by B.O.B... for some strange reason. I think simon is a great dancer! he should certainly win an award for that dance he did near the end!... I also like the bit where he goes "I'm from Newcastle," "Can we call it new new castle?!"... Love HH
the cool part is it didn't stop there. I live in Colorado and one of Denver's Suburbs is Called Westminister. I beleive you Brits have a lovely Abby in the First Westminister. :)
I wish this song had been broadcast when I was doing my degree in American Studies. Got a First anyway, but it might have helped the rest of the class.
in Jamestown cannibalism was practiced, the people of the Plymouth Colony did not resort to that, they managed to scrounge food, and eats things like rats, etc.
Haha, you do have a good point. They may have been going for a fort by shooting through the Hudson or Mohawk R. (could have been a Swedish or Dutch ft.).
thats the point, most of their songs are based around pop culture; children are familiar with songs like this so it's easier for them to learn than just lecturing them
The settlement of New Amsterdam is outside of the actual fort which was known as Ft. Amsterdam. New Amsterdam served as the capital of New Holland. Ft. Amsterdam was not well equipped with weapons, and therefore gave up the fort along with the city immediately when they saw the British fleet, in condition that the dutch settlers could farm and practice their religion in peace. The showed no real intention to fight, and could of easily as well been trying to take a just as powerful Swedish fort.
I think this should be my theme song: I'm descended from the Pilgrim Fathers, I live in New England, in Massachusetts and near the border with New Hampshire.
no, they make songs about history using a selection of pop songs as a base, they are just parodies, they used this one as the actual songs main lyric is new york, which they changed to new world. they have done loads of different songs ranging from adam and the ants to the beegees
Jamestown Va was founded in 1607, and already had the basis of america's representitive government started in 1619. Plymoth isn't even founded until 1620.
That's because the Dutch colonists thought it better to get the best possible terms since there were no plans for defense. The colony was handed over to the English and the Dutch colonists stayed and kept their money. In 1667, 3 years later, the Dutch navy sailed up the Thames and burnt most of the British fleet, taking prizes with them like the flagship Royal Charles. In 1688, Dutch Stadholder William invaded England (invited by Protestant nobles) and became English king William III.
Somehow I managed to get a First in American Studies without this song having been written at the time. Had my degree finished 2 years later I probably would have failed, due to quoting lines about de feet in exams.
Actually historically, the British sent a fleet for "New Amsterdam" (not sure if they really had an intention to take it over) and the dutch immediately surrendered it to the British.
Actually, it was more like 24$ plus some valuable goods. In current money, it would be about 1,000 $ plus the unknown valuable goods (tools, guns, whatever). So it did not come cheaply!
I'm not sure if I believe it either. Apparently as the story goes they mixed human and animal waste together and ate it which raises the question why didn't they just kill and eat the animals which would also save on whatever it was they were feeding the animals.
I just got the 'De-feet' joke. Only took me ~9 years
?
"Can we call it New New Castle?"
-.- no
I would toatly live in new new castle lol
@@flash_pineapple075 new new new new new new new new new new new new

" Wait, I'm from Newcastle, can we call it New-Newcastle"
The rest of them "Nahhh" ! LOL
"Does that mean that we'll meet with de feet?" Made me laugh so much! :)

It's great to see Larry featuring more. And the welcome return of Simon!
This is one of the BEST songs they've ever made, i've listened to it like a MILLION times and i'm still not bored of it!
Horrible Histories rules!!!xxx
the rhythm of the song is unbelievably smooth.
Now I listen to the original song instead but decided I like this better 😂
I always forget I had this account
Isn't a bit ironic that I got a Yonderland advert before this?
Haha that's amazing 🤣🤣
''hey thanks for feeding us now we'll absoloutely crush your kind''
pure genius these song writers are. THANK YOU
I'm from Newcastle can we call it new Newcastle? No.

Love Larry's face when he says "da-feet" :)

Lmao
I love how in the beginning Larry's only job is to sit at the table looking all cool and meaningful.
We need a massive CD of all of the horrible histories songs!.. This song is awesome... You all sound awesome!
As a Rap fan, and loving Jay-Z, I absolutely love this
Coming back for some nostalgia
We should thank the cast personally for making us think like this :)
I can’t believe this was 8 years ago 😭
xD oh my god Mat and Ben rapping? I´m dying...
Who ever created this song is a legend. :D
I love this video, especially the part about "a pig or a cow." I just laugh hysterically. Why don't other Americans love this?
Because it shows us how wrong our legends are, and many of us would rather glorify our past than to learn from it.
You can't glorify your past AND acknowledge their faults? I have no trouble doing that. LOL
Howard Wiggins
Would be a bit problematic, that combination...

Anywhere I can find the lyrics to this? I'm tempted to use it in my history class.

this is the first perfect scored video I've seen. I've been getting tired from killing all those dislikers.
I can’t believe this was 8 years ago 😭
LOL it's not actually a big butt, it's the style of skirt they wore. It had a metal frame in it to make the butt look big.

Very correct.
In this time period 24 dollars was a lot more.
I've learned all the words to this song off by heart!!!!
Jamestown Va was founded in 1607, and already had the basis of america's representitive government started in 1619. Plymoth isn't even founded until 1620.
I loved the Horrible History books but this is pretty great too.
Watching this on Thanksgiving Day!
It is hilarious, I love it:).

Actually the very first settlers in virginia resorted to cannibalism. The Pilgrims didn't but most of them starved to death.
De Feet!!!!! Love this
Somehow I managed to get a First in American Studies without this song having been written at the time. Had my degree finished 2 years later I probably would have failed, due to quoting lines about de feet in exams.
Hooray for New Newcastle!
Yes please, thanks so much! :)
As ever with HH,highly informative.

I'm not sure if I believe it either. Apparently as the story goes they mixed human and animal waste together and ate it which raises the question why didn't they just kill and eat the animals which would also save on whatever it was they were feeding the animals.
