As a kid, in Battle Creek, Michigan, while my family was visiting my granparents, I hurried out to the front porch to watch the approaching thunderstorm. I've experienced that quite regularly. Just the other day, from my back garden I could see rain in the distance and just sat down and watched it approach. As it reached me I went inside and continued watching as it drenched our patio and back garden. A few minutes later the rain stopped. I then went out to the shops and noticed that, our front yard was bone dry. My daughter had been weeding in the front garden the entire time and confirmed, she'd seen no rain at all. By the time I got home from the shops (about 20 minutes) we had a clear blue sky but the back garden was still absolutely sodden.

As a kid, in Battle Creek, Michigan, while my family was visiting my granparents, I hurried out to the front porch to watch the approaching thunderstorm. The porch was covered and big enough that it kept you dry during most rains. Granpa (who loved thunderstorms as well) came out and joined me. And we both sat on the porch glider (seat) and watched the rain fall on the other side of the street.
The street ran east and west. From start to finish, hardly a drop of rain fell on the north {our side) half of the street. But everything from a little over halfway across the street, snd south, was soaked.
I felt like I had been cheated. We got the lightning, the thunder, but no rain. (Pouting)

I had just installed skylights in the bedroom which was on the back of my home. Sitting in the living room on the front of the house it started to pour down rain. I wanted to hear what it sounded like on the skylights, so I went to the bedroom. Not a single drop! The divide between raining and not raining was right down the ridge of the roof on my house!
The rain on one side of the street and leaving the other dry is much more common than it seems, every year I go down to Florida with my family and at least 5 days of the 14 were there half the street is soaked, and the other is dry
