I saw this movie when I was 10 years old and it scared the crap outta me. Nowhere can I find my favorite scene of Kingsfield telling "Liberty Bell" he will dispense with ringing him further LOL!
Got to wonder how Harvard Law School produced Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, Tom Cotton and Kayleigh McEnany. They lost out on Josh Hawley as that distinguished senator attended Yale Law School.
the doctor had delivered on returning the boys usage of his hand. However the problem of the boy having hairy hand was a side effect that the doctor could not have predicted. but I must say that is assumption on my part.
I've hired several attorneys in my life. Those that were the best started my/our relations like "I know every dead attorney joke there is -- I'll review your case, then bring me another $1,000.00. Then my consult invited me back into his office, another $1,000.00 required. After two years in court (attorney fees included), despite all plea reductions & lesser charge reductions ... all charges were dismissed & I got my gun back. Some might call it extortion or false filing or over-proud prosecutors but after two years all charges dropped & I got my gun back. It's called the legal process, and it took two years, and I never got my bail $ back or a front page newspaper article: all charges dropped & I got my gun back.
The Doctor should lose his License. He should pay a large amount for making the hand worse "after" the Operation than "before". Also where were the "Boy's" Parents in all of this?
basically, i think people have a problem deciding the difference in what is true and what is truth. the promise that the doctor made was to be true, simple. he promised to be true. but, for some reason, the students want to grapple with the truth, when you can't handle the truth. in the beginning.....

He should pay the difference in value between the promised good hand and the burned hairy hand. Sit down Mr. Hart!!

I would have told Kingsfield where to go, in French!
Here's the answer Mr. Hart should have given:
