      RJ Flowers American Atti2udes Customs would you consider or recommend filing down the point on that contact screw? Or cut that sharp tip off for a larger maybe more rounded contact point?

    Can you explain your setup and how to check spring tension with a scale? I don't have a tension guage so it would be a huge help.

    Cool video...where do you get better coils ? Id love to build a whole machine..from bought parts..new frame..coils..springs and arm bar...etc...where to get cheaper but good parts ro try building..?

  • @SumDood1
    @SumDood1 5 років тому

    Machine builders do not buy springs, they make them. And a machine with true geometry won't need shims either.

    • @philliphorne9112
      @philliphorne9112 4 роки тому

      Nothing wrong with shims 95% of hand made machines will have them some of the best machines need them anyway to have the perfect height for the armature bar I'm not saying 7 shims bahahha but like 1 or 2 depending on the thickness

    Once again another UA-cam video about "how to set a tattoo machine" that failed to cover the very important proper stroke length between a liner and shader. A good liner should be under 3.5mm and a good shader over 3.5mm none of which was addressed in this video

    By far one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen to get your crappy china machine actually working 👍🏻 thanks for the knowledge my friend ! Keep doing what your doing !

    Awesome video bud. It helps out with us newbies who buy the china crap in our quest of "Do i have what it takes & Do i like" before making the commitment of forking out for quality equipment. I just got my crap kit yesterday so my adventure begins. Thanks for a good start. Cheers

      @Kenny Venegas the cheap machines have a place through, for learning technique basics, for how the gun handles, hell for what I have been doing with a tattoo gun they're perfect. (I work on leather doing a few things and am just dipping a toe into tattooing as an option compared to tooling work)
      I have no idea if I will EVER tattoo a person honestly I doubt it however.

    • @jediknight1294
      @jediknight1294 5 років тому +2

      @Kenny Venegas -rolls eyes- you're as bad as the guys who stroke out hearing clip used as a term for magazine.
      If a term has existed in the lexis for oh.... 60 years at least you have to accept that it has become part of the language of the industry. That's one of the joys of English, it's descriptive so the use of a term is the origin of the meaning rather than it being set in stone and never changing.
      I know tattooists who have been working since the late 70's who use the term gun deal with it. Getting whiny about it is ridiculous.
      Also just because you dropped more money on your first kit, looking down on the cheap entrypoints to the hobby just make you look a tool gatekeeping.
      Are these something that you should use on a paying client, nah probably not, are they something that has a use for a basic kit to learn some skills or do specific things. Yeah they're fine for that.
      You could do more useful things, recommending decent entry level setups, suppliers that aren't utterly worthless or insanely arrogant etc but instead you're just going to sit and sneer.
      If people are buying a basic China kit that's better than idiots making prison machines (just) given the amount of guides on the web for that now.
      Hopefully they will find actual decent information that emphasises safety and quality of work/skills training and that increase in access to information improves the standard of tattooing in the long term.
      As for me a China machine does pretty much everything I need it to do while I decide if the final product is something that I want to spend the time working on Vs spending the time working on my tooling.
      Dropping 50$ to try it isn't a big deal and could lead to a 500$ tool purchase in 6 months or so, not having access to the 50$ setup means I probably wouldn't have bothered broadening my skillset and toolset to do something that I will probably only use on 5-10 pieces a year at most unless I really get grabbed by a particular art style that favours it obviously.

      @Kenny Venegas stop whining about everything, face it..tattooing is not a secret cult anymore.. anyone who has the means and the determination with proper knowledge can do it these

    Hey guy this is just awsome I agree with the masses maybe it's best to save your money and buy a decent machine but I have actually baught many Chinese machines with few modifications they run like a champ and have some really nice frames and yes machine makers are gonna hate this video show casing the fact that yea you can make these machines work and the way you explain things is so easy to under stand I especially like how you described the grip you hold your machine i do the same but that would have been useful a year ago when I was learning and you tubing everything to learn keep the videos coming please

    The first thing you made tighter. That gold screw onto a black plate. What do you do there does it need to be tight to that plate or a bit loose. Or touching all the time. Please let me know I really appreciate it if you could help I'm new to this and have bought myself a machine and its not going to gather it might be the gold screw that touches the black plate. Can you help

    Hey, great info, but I was having trouble seeing what you were showing sometimes because of the camera angle. Really great info though, I'm just starting to build as a hobby, but I never thought about testing the tension with a scale, that was cool to learn.
    Do you think it's a good idea to sand the contact side of the armature bar smooth/flat? Or if it's painted

    Sir, I am in great difficulty. I hope you will help me. It is very difficult that when I put tattoos on the wire machine, then that machine does not run and when I come back, then I run again, then in the diameter, Absolutely fine, I do not understand, there is a malfunction in the head machine or there is a problem with the wire or malfunction in the diameter, please help me.

      When learning on the basic kits on synthetic skin or leather I can see all the issues being frustrating and turning people off before ever dropping the money on something decent.
      Entry level tools need to function acceptably and a machine he has gone through and done this work too will do quite nicely as an abusable practice machine.

  • @2ndrunraidshadowlegends631

    The main problem with these is the coil wires usually is aluminium Coated and not even copper.
    Buy a cheap kit then purchase a set of good coils or make some with proper wire and change the caps

    • @rjflowersamericanatti2udes770
      @rjflowersamericanatti2udes770  6 років тому

      Yeah the thing behind this was the cheapest way to just get it to work over having a paper weight,the best way is to just but a great hand built machine,,oh wait thats what I sell lol

      Great stuff will keep an eye out.
      Have you played with different gauge wire yet ?
      I tried 2 different thicknesses.
      And got different results. Similar to how shader and liner coils work

    • @rjflowersamericanatti2udes770
      @rjflowersamericanatti2udes770  6 років тому +1

      Oh of course .knowing that larger wire will lower your resistance in which will lower operating voltage and will give you better control..lol I am working on making coil cores that are not standard to the norm of that 5/16 to move up 1 decimal to a true 3/8 with a real 1/2 top ..and now with my full costume machine i making my springs and armbars...and making side plates tube vices and spring decks from copper ,the first few idid with a steel zframe you can see in the pictures and now as you see building them from copppppper lol facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156577110652244&set=pcb.10156577112332244&type=3&theater
