I would’ve dropped out of the competition entirely if I found out my horse had to attempt such a jump; no one should treat any animal like that just because they “just want to add something a little extra” to bring in a larger crowd (more spectators=more $$$ made).
The riders might not know that their horse couldn’t do it!! It’s not the horse or riders fault, it’s the course designers! But I would’ve halted too navies that is just an insanely dangerous jump

That must be so painful for not only the horse but the rider if they fail! Plus the jumps are solid so if you miss the jump it doesn’t fall over it badly injures the horse and the rider (from my knowledge)

no because it’s sad. i think most of the horses suspect that it’s not a jump but a platform. so they i don’t think they try to raise there legs as high. idk just my thoughts
I love cross country and my dream is to compete with it but this is exactly why I will refuse to jump anything over 3ft, as in CC jumps, its not worth risking my life or my horses
Hear me out, this is and isn't abuse. Jumping what your horse is able to handle is great. Pushing ur horse to do something they're not capable of, is just no right. If you jump, your horse has a limit.

From.tje quality of the videos, I would say they were likely prior to the mass roll out of collapsible jumps. I haven't seen one like it for many years, although I haven't watched any events for a a couple of years due to my last horse passing from old age and not wanting to depress myself by watching people ride, making me want to 😭 I'd like to think this kind of jump, if still included I fitted with the collapsible system now. Of course, I'm not sure such a jump would be appropriate in the short formats anyway.

Yikes!! What goes through those riders heads when they sign up for this. Putting yourself and your horse in that sort of danger doesnt prove anything other than you take risks. It doesnt make you any cooler or any more respectable. I would never ever bring my horse to a jump like that, even if i was certain he could do it. I’ll stick with the jumps that break or fall instead of charging my horse into a wall.

I don’t get why people can’t treat animals the way we treat each other, it saddens me. no because it’s sad. i think most of the horses suspect that it’s not a jump but a platform. so they i don’t think they try to raise there legs as high. idk just my thoughts

Hear me out, this is and isn't abuse. Jumping what your horse is able to handle is great. Pushing ur horse to do something they're not capable of, is just no right. If you jump, your horse has a limit.

I dont have a problem with Cross Country but I think if there jumps like Cottsmlre leap you should not ride this. I think its to dangerous for both but exspecially for the Horse. If the Horse gets a broken leg he or she is gone, if the Riders bakes his leg he just rides after the leg got cured. I think this is unfair every Animal should get an lovely life without such jumps. And this is in every Riding Sport:
- dressage Rollkur
-Showjumping 3 meter high jumps
-Cross Country Jumps like Cottsmore leap
- Polo the sticks/ hockeys
-Races the long runs
- Bick Lick The fake implates on the horse
- saddle seat the high head or the walk
Every Horse Sport has his own bad and good things but in every Sport there shouldnt be such dangerous things that can kill your horse…

From.tje quality of the videos, I would say they were likely prior to the mass roll out of collapsible jumps. I haven't seen one like it for many years, although I haven't watched any events for a a couple of years due to my last horse passing from old age and not wanting to depress myself by watching people ride, making me want to 😭 I'd like to think this kind of jump, if still included I fitted with the collapsible system now. Of course, I'm not sure such a jump would be appropriate in the short formats anyway.

I would never ever bring my horse to a jump like that, even if i was certain he could do it. I’ll stick with the jumps that break or fall instead of charging my horse into a wall.

I don’t get why people can’t treat animals the way we treat each other, it saddens me. They have feelings too and when we force them to do these insane, unnecessary stunts and they or the rider gets hurt, it’s ‘their fault’ and not the rider/the stunt??? :/
If you want to jump with a horse, people really need to make sure that the horse can make it. I’ve seen so many people and horses get injured because of high jumps. People getting crushed or trampled or horses breaking legs.
