I use a website called readcomicsonline. Just Google it and you should find it pretty easily. They have a bunch of comics that you can read, other than DC, for free. So feel free to check it out if you ever want to read other stuff. One Batman story I highly recommend reading is The Dark Knight Returns. Somewhere down the line I recommend Dark Nights Metal.

I think the most shocking for me was when the court of owls happened. The start of the story had batman facing off all the villains in Arkham showing how strong and agile he really was. And then the encounters with the talon showed how weak he really was. When I read this GN I was really surprised. Showing how batman was brutally "defeated" but the one talon and then revealing that there was more than just one. Really good comic and I highly recommend it. Personal opinion btw
On the subject of bane, I don’t think he ever could’ve beaten Batman without having unleashed the criminals first, I think Batman would’ve kicked bane to Kansas and back had bane not released all those prisoners, I also can’t count this as a win for bane considering Batman was already too weak to fight him, its like wrestling a bear thats already dead, harmless by far and unable to properly fight back, all bane did was beat an already beaten Batman, which means it isn’t his win at all

Blackfire got to him so badly he started using guns for the rest of the story line (rubber bullets, but still...). I don't know if Blackfire ever showed up again, or if I even want him too. But I really dug him as the antagonist of that story.
