A son of Poseidon being seasick is like A child of Zeus being afraid of heights...no offense, Thalia.
No, it's like then getting motion sickness in the air. That woukd be like a fesr of drowning, which Percy actually got for part of the hoo series, so yk. Just a more accurate comparison.
The fear of heights is fine cuz phobias are irrational and can't be controlled (like Percy getting a fear of drowning). Motion sickness however... Easily can.
In the book, he doesn’t get seasick
@@hitme3454 yeah. however this comment was in reference to a moment within this video about how Tyson got sea sickness in the movie.
Percy was afraid of drowning in heroes of Olympus bro also your right this never happened but I think a more accurate comparison would be child of Zeus afraid of lightning

If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a special effects artist: it doesn’t matter if you tell the director/producer it’s a terrible idea, or how many people tell them that, they always think they know better and insist on it anyway.
These two movies are the ultimate example of that.

And Percy the Guinea pig LOL
When I saw this movie in theaters with my dad, I remember saying to him beforehand that I knew it wasn't going to be a good movie but that I could forgive a LOT if I got to see Percy as a Guinea pig. Needless to say, I left the theater furious and thoroughly disappointed.
yeah and it would make sense if we get a heroes of olympus adaptation as well. hopefully the tv show does it justice
Yes, I want to see black beard and his ship lol
Grover was actually also meant to be on his own quest at the beginning, as at the end of The Lightning Thief he went out to look for the god Pan. This then led him to getting captured by the cyclops, which Percy was having dreams about due to the connection that Percy and Grover had. Those dreams and knowing Grover was in danger was why he wanted to go on the quest in the first place, to save his friend and also the camp, not because he wanted to be seen as the hero.
I personally liked the "Don't walk on my roof scene" To me it feels like the most Percy Jackson energy we're going to get lmao to each their own. However I agreed with everything else you said!

Thank the Gods they axed The Titan's Curse.
The Titan's Curse had so much women empowerment, so I'm glad they didn't continue making movies. They would've screwed it up.
There was one time when I was discussing with a friend how they would have continued these films with Luke gone. And... well, seeing how they made Hades the bad guy in the first movie and how they heavily implied that Luke was dead, we came to the conclusion that they would have probably aged up Nico (of course) and make him the villian. I bet that the idea was to make him and evil lord who brainwashed Luke and whose sole motivation is to see the gods fall. I have no proof, but I have no doubt.
I think that would happen If The 3 movie Was made
@@miukkismiumau2774 yep
i could see them doing that
Young Walker from the Adam project is going to be playing the new version of Percy Jackson in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians film and his voice over is so awesome and spot on with the monologue in the book it's far better than this you should check it out
They would make an 85 yo Nico or something
This is what ticks me off about Hollywood and the movie industry. You've got a director meeting up with the creator of the books they wanna adapt into a film. This can go one of two ways:
A) The director listens to the author and makes sure they do everything right
Or
B) The director throws everything out of the window and into a flaming trashcan and just basically rewrites everything terribly and glues on the title in hopes that it'll sell good
The only good memory I have of this movie is that someone said "depths of Tartarus" and my friend shouted "DEPTHS OF TARTAR SAUCE?!"

Feels bad for Clarisse's character in this book. As much as she is pushing herself to try to be tough and prove that she is worthy of her possition, you get the impression for the entire story that if camp were under attack she would make some effort to take on the enemy on her own regardless of how helpless the odds if it ment a single person might have time to prepare or escape. She is one of the most authentic characters in the story, she really IS about the life she portrays.
The moment they mentioned Silena on the boat I knew I’d never forgive them. It’s like Harry killing Nagini in chamber of secrets.
@Eliana Volfson yeah that’s my point. That revealing Silena early is the same as if Harry had killed Nagini in book two and both actions spoil the ending
Definitely. If that would have happened in Harry Potter movies I would have gone crazy. And they literally just destroyed silena by showing her on the boat. What worse can happen in the movies? They might even kill Percy in the last part.
Much worse actually
Well, the Goblet of Fire movie did spoil Barty Crouch Jr as the main villain in the first five minutes.
@@DrZuluGaming well, atleast they had some suspense and tense moments to show the suspense, and didn't ruin voldemort and pettigrew's characters, so all hope wasn't lost

Imagine if one of the cast members actually read the series several times, but the director didn’t listen to him/her.
They really nerfed Tyson to oblivion didn't they. Something else, I hate how Kronos becomes this massive creature. Kronos with Luke's body seemed much more terrifying to me.
Sorry I know this comment is old, but this was my exact thoughts on this too, I was terrified of him because of his power, then to hear (I think Poseidon/Luke in the Last Olympian?) say that him regaining his true form would incinerate any mortal and be 10 times more powerful than any Olympian god was just chilling, you knew Percy was on a tight timer to stop him from getting his true form back.
I Know This Comment Is Old But I Hate How Kronos Was In Lukes Body It Made Him So Boring And Disappointing Especially With How Luke Regains Control In Every Other Scene And How Kronos Never Even Does Anything Other Than Show Up Monologue And Then Get His Ass Kicked Over And Over Again Until He Died
they really added in an unnecessary abandoned amusement park when they literally had an abandoned amusement park in the 1st book i-
It´s like they DID read the books at some point, then just completely ignored them. Which is so much worse.
They basically just jumbled a bunch of different events throughout the books, picked them out of a hat, and used that to decide what went into which movie.
We've got the Hydra from book 2 showing up in movie 1
The amusement park in Book 1 showing up in movie 2

I unironically want the director to keep making these movies for the pure shitpost and garbage memes that is about to happen. They literally killed the Big Bad of the main series in the second movies as well as fucking up Luke's character arc.

Wonderful video.
I just starting to read PJ.
Just one thing: Of course there's not much sense in adding Tyson getting seasick, but it's not like impossible.
Thalia is afraid of heights too.
Are you done?
I don't think it's quite the same tho. It's more like Thalia getting... idk air travel sick or smth...
It’s not entirely the same. Being afraid of your parent’s sphere of control and having a physical reaction to movement on water are different things.
Thalia’s fear of heights is more than likely due to some sort of trauma irregardless of her godly heritage. Possibly a fall, getting left somewhere up high (like getting stuck on a ferris wheel), etc.
Tyson getting seasick is a bodily function, which is a huge difference from an irrational fear. Children of Poseidon don’t get seasick because the sea is their father’s domain. The water is where their strength is the greatest, and, while yes, Tyson’s on a boat and not directly in the water, he is still in Poseidon’s domain and therefore shouldn’t be having a negative reaction to his father’s sphere of influence. If, while on a boat/life-raft, Percy can know exactly where he is and how fast the boat’s going (things he’s physically able to do due to Poseidon being his dad), Tyson shouldn’t be having such a negative physical reaction while on a boat.
That’s the main problem with Tyson being seasick. It’s not that he has a fear of the water, it’s that he’s having a negative physiological reaction to his father’s sphere of influence.
If Movie-Tyson had an irrational fear of water due to some past trauma (maybe a sea monster attacked him when he was younger or another traumatic event), I think the fandom would be slightly more willing to overlook that specific mis-characterization because it’s shown multiple times that demigods and children of gods can have irrational fears about their parent’s domain (Thalia, and others (I don’t want to spoil anything for you)), but the general rule is that godly children will be strongest in their parent’s domain (sea, sky, underworld, in battle, etc).
A child of Poseidon would not get seasick just like a child of Zeus wouldn’t get plane-sick, a child of Hades would not get sick in cemeteries or in the Underworld, or a child of Apollo would not get sick from standing in the sunlight.
Sorry for the info-dump, I just wanted, as a PJO veteran, to explain a bit more about WHY Tyson getting seasick makes NO sense, even with the knowledge that godly children can be afraid of their parent’s domain.
Welcome to the PJO fandom, and I hope you love the books as much as I have!! I’m happy to answer any questions you have, just let me know!! 😊😊
I think it stems from when it is mentioned that he gets violently CARsick.

As a huge fan of Percy Jackson here’s what I have to say abt this. In my 5th grade class we read the first book and I was hooked. I LOVED it! Then when our class watched the movie we sat there disappointed. They left out SO many awesome scenes! Especially with Annabeth being more like Clarisee. Then I watched this and was so sad that they didnt include Percy and Annabeths relationship growth. I love how they subtlety throughout the books start to like each other. This didn’t even include them having much interaction. And I feel like no one is on my side with this but the series cast is messed up. @@Sevren_ hes also arguably the god who has done the least bad stuff. the only real nasty move he pulled was the seeds
I think Riordan's take still works though. I can't find any myths concerning Ares that portray him as caring towards women. It's more that there aren't many myths that involve him being particularly nasty towards women, compared to the likes of Zeus or Poseidon. It's also interesting to note that despite the Amazons being descendants of Ares and worshippers of him, they never seem to have any major military victories in the myths they appear in, if at all. So I think Riordan's take on Ares still definitely works.

Another thing that irritates me is that they DID read the other books, as they mention that Ethan Nakamura was on the ship. Ethan wasn't mentioned until the fourth book, as he was the final Demigod needed to rise Kronos

But the Percy Jackson movies arent even particularly good even if you haven't read the books. The first one is okay at best and they ignore a ton of important context and plot points for the series as a whole. Also lukes ship in the book was a big cruise ship if I’m remembering it right, and in this movie it’s a small yacht 😅
yea true it was a cruise ship
Yeah Princess Andromeda was a cruise ship
Actually, the Cruise ship is actually much more important than we think it is because its kind of a big thing in Trials of Apollo
Ain't gonna spoil but have you ever wondered where Luke got the 'sponsors who gave the money to buy a goddam cruise ship?
And it had mortals on it, and they slept in a room all night.
To be fair, renting a cruise ship is prohibitably expensive. I completely understand and support that downgrade.
It also annoys me about how they got Kronos's story completely wrong, not just because its in the books, but because its an actually Greek Myth that happened. It's already a Greek story that happened. It wasn't just made up by Rick, Rick got it from another true source.
Too true for my eyes 😞😞😞😞
Well it’s not a *true source* but lol yeah
Book one: the thunder stealer
Book two: the ocean of bad guys
Book three: the big guys bad thing
Book four: the fight of the magic maze
Book five: the not it god
Hero’s of Olympus
Book one: the unfound savior
Book two: the kid of Poseidon in his Roman form
Book three: the dot of Minerva in her Greek form
Book four: the apartment of dead god
Book five: the nosebleed of Percy
alr well I’m making the 3rd series after not even seeing this comment 4 a year
trials of Apollo:
book 1: the showed prophecy person
book 2:the light thing the oracle said
book 3: the on flames puzzle
book 4: the mean rulers gravestone
Lol
I mean that is extremely accurate to the actual names.
You got me laughing so hard🤣
What about the tower of Nero?
My friend introduced me to the series with watching the movies. At the time, I didn’t think the movies were half bad, and I couldn’t understand why my friend was so mad. The, I read the books. Wow. Now I understand. Great video!
It hurts. PHYSICALLY HURTS when I watch scenes from the movies.
I'd rather fight Jeff the killer and homicidal Liu than endure this torture
Poseidon supposedly making Riptide hurts the most and you know it
Same
*Projectile vomiting*
The fact that in the books it was Luke that killed Kronos was beautifully sad. This... This was just sad like losing in a video game.
@@PavanKumar-wo4wu Oh fine, the fact that it was Luke that *Removed Kronos from the mortal world and sent him back to the underworld using a knife.*
Technically luke killed kronos by scattering him so thin he can never reform a consciousness never mind a physical form
@@jsjdhdhshshs7860 so functionally he's dead for the forseeable future of the Riordanverse.
OSP made a good point when she said fates worse than death function either as plot removal or character drama, but I digress.
I don't usually complain about spoilers but HOLY SHIT BRO
Ya I bet if they made a fifth movie, they would make percy kill kronos instead, or kronos die by falling from the top of the building
Even if you don’t like the movie, you gotta admit the barrier being destroyed looked awesome
I read a lot of Rick Riordan stuff but really put aside the percy jackson books because I was reading the other ones and I just forgot for a while. I instead watched the movies for convenience, I heard it was much more different from the books but I thought, "It couldn't be that far off". Few years later, I see this vid, and now, you just motivated a guy with barely any spare money to buy books to read five percy jackson books
haha what a life
These two movies make Cursed Child, the Sequel Star Wars Trilogy and Hobbit films look like a perfect masterpiece.
I mean I enjoyed the the sequel star wars trilogy and the Hobbit films sure they weren't perfect but they were good but not the curse child that was just bullshit
I thought the Hobbit films were good as a standalone, but yeah, fuck those other two.
Yeah
Cursed Child is a massive stretch. Nothing could ever make that pile of hot garbage look like a masterpiece.
I didn't know people hated the Hobbit movies, I liked them, but I never read the books

1:37 Another example of a good voice over is the princess tale in deathly hallows part 2 when snape is voicing over stuff from the first film. It's a really well put together scene and what I think is better than how Rowling did it in the book.
One of small things that really annoyed me has got to be the fact that the Princess Andromeda, which is meant to be a CRUISE LINER, is just a yacht.
"Don't walk on my roof" was my favorite line in the movie. It had me laughing hard.
Exactly. It’s so bad timing it’s so good
The books had far better lines. Like the infamous peanut butter war cry.
@@demigodking2334 PUTTH BUTER!
Luke could have used it to confuse Percy and win easily
Honestly the one “good” part of the movie
"Dont walk on my roof" is the best line in the whole film, its hilarious and totally seems like a thing that Luke would say when he isnt feeling all evil and doom and gloom. It is a bit out of place yes, but its still a great line.
That and Dionysus saying, "you know the Christians have a guy who can do this trick in reverse".
Those two lines actually do feel like the original characters.
I was watching this video, and I got an ad, and IT WAS THE DAM TRAILER FOR THE NEW SERIES. This is a sign from the gods that this series is going to be absolutely epic.
I hope one day we can see the books get adapted in a way that's authentic to the books. I've never read the books, and I've only seen the first movie, but the two videos you've made, it's made the books sound very interesting and shows how bad the movies are as adaptations. Only time will tell I guess.
Good news- a PJO series is being made for Disney +, and Rick is one of the main script writers/overseeing the project
Imagine if they made more and made Nico the villain... MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY DON’T ADD WHEN NICO GAVE HAPPY MEALS FOR THE DEAD!!!
bro if they made those movies and cut my boy givin out those chicken nuggies to find his sister id riot
@@LionWithAGun I know right
Boycott the movies. Send them to the depths of TARTAR SAUCE
@@frankzhang866 YES
@Jayvin Zebari I know
Don't forget that they didn't have the Mist in the first one. In the beginning, that woman sees Poseidon walk out of the ocean in giant form(also, why have him walk to Olympus? He's a God he could literally teleport there!). Afyer that there was the wife who got turned to Stone by Medusa. The third time was the woman at the hotel seeing the severed head of Medusa.
OH Yeah, that was weird
*god
1-The Poseidon one was bad
2/3-Medusa’s abilities still trigger, even through the mist
@@insertcolorherehawk3761 Yeah that does make sense...
I mean even if medusa doesn’t look like a gorgon, the lady probably would’ve noticed that her husband was a statue
16:20 to further solidify this point, the movie itself shows Percy trying to use his powers before they're swallowed, and he can't. Because as Annabeth states, "Maybe the Sea of Monsters isn't in Poseidon's domain" which is also a stupid point.
How does that make sense? In the heroes of Olympus, Percy could still use his powers in Alaska, a place where no gods can control.
@@luciussalcedo3731 exactly, the movies are doo doo
@@luciussalcedo3731 I bet other gods are in Alaska, probably Inuit.
I only watched this movie once when it came out in theaters, and the ending infuriated me so much that i think i just blacked out the rest of movie.

I actually had faith in the second movie back then, don't know why the hell, but I went to the movies to see it. I was so fed up during the whole movie and when they made Kronos rise, I straight up walked out, and I wasn't the only one. I remember very fondly how me and a handful PJO Fans were outside the movies venting out frustrations to each other.
One thing I have been thinking about since i saw the last scene with Luke and Polyphemus: if the movie had Luke die there, I will be SO. FREAKING. FURIOUS.
frankly, it's disrespectful, both to the whole plot and especially to Luke's character arc. Not only would it mess up the whole plot point where he BECOMES KRONOS, but also him overcoming Kronos, LITERALLY KILLING HIMSELF TO SEND KRONOS BACK TO TARTARUS, and having Percy make the gods promise not to ignore their children anymore, it's so well written, I still cry every time I read it (and I've gone through at least 6 times now), and in the movie... I literally realized that they might have Luke die there DAYS AFTER I WATCHED IT.
This movie has too much to rant about, I'm going to go spend my brainpower (haha here's me acting like I have brainpower to spend) on something that doesn't emotionally drain me *waves*
I really wanted to see Percy too turn into a guinea pig and it really upset me he didn’t
That whole scenario was lame imo and I would rather than skip it too. The siren call was way more interesting.
@@soraceant but, it still would’ve also shown stuff, like annabeth overcoming magic with the gummies; also it would’ve been funny
@@vivian_westwood_butworse maybe
@@vivian_westwood_butworse agreed. And it would show the relationship between Percy and Annabeth
@SamTheSoviet42 the siren situation did so too and a whole lot better. But like I said its just my opinion
I’m so glad they never made a third movie, they would have made Nico blonde and evil or something. I’M SO JEALOUS OF THE HARRY POTTER MOVIES! (Also fun fact: Logan Lerman once said that he never even read any of the Percy Jackson books)
😐
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭howwwwww
I'm not so sure that thats quite as bad as the people actually putting everything together not reading the books since the actors just take direction, but its still pretty lazy. If I was going to play a role in an adaptation, I'd make sure I was at least familiar with the character I was going to play and the basic outline of the plot.
they will make nico blonde and extroverted and a son of zeus
@@marcusreading3783 actually some shows based off of any reading material, the director tells/advises the lead actor to not read anything about the character

Just finished the book series. I’m so angry about how these movies are. I watched the movies first and WOW ARE THE BOOKS SO MUCH BETTER AND ACTUALLY MAKE SENSE when I started reading I had to like force myself to not think about how they looked in the movies. I must say, the line "What are you doing, get off my roof!" Made me laugh. It was very funny.
I gotta say, I didn't really get into Percy Jackson beyond listening to people rag on these movies, cause I thought it sounded kinda like fluff nothing at first glance. But now that I hear him explaining it in detail...I realize this book series is actually pretty damn dark. I don't really like prophecy stories, and I have a hard time reading due to ADHD, but it sounds neat! Especially Tyson, I love characters like that.
