9.92lbs is very heavy for a modern carry on bag! Most airlines have a 22lbs limit on carry on bag weight....so almost half your weight allowance is the bag. You can get very lightweight carry on bags these days and they don't cost much.
I'm totally with you on this one. My Samsonite carry on weighs 1.7kg, when Away carry on weighs 3.7kg! That's a huge huge difference for the same price. Battery feature... let's be honest, most of us own at least one or two power banks by now, so why would I need another one with my luggage? For me Away is a big NO luggage brand... Sorry folks.
@@ingrida3575 I agree anything above 2kg for carry on doesn't get a look in no matter how many bells and whistles. I have the Samsonite cosmolite and it has been my go to travel case for over 2 years now and still looking good.

It’s incredible how much money you can trick out of people by paying the right people on Instagram and UA-cam.
I just saw this review while shopping for luggage and holy cow, that member's mark luggage is EXACTLY the same right down to the Hinomoto wheels! Except now, 2 yrs after ur comment, it's a two-piece set, larger + carryon for $129. Which kinda sucks for me because all I need is a carryon. But wow, u great comparison!
When my cheap department store suitcase wheels finally gave up, I bought an Away Bigger Carry On. I think it is worth the higher cost for the features you listed. But mainly I think it will last far longer than cheaper luggage. I'm a proponent of buying quality once rather than cheap several times if one can afford it. I later added a back pack and the medium suitcase and the quality of both have met or exceeded my expectations. So far I have one international trip and several domestic trips and other than some minor scuffs, they have held up very well. With at least two international trips this year, we shall see if my initial thoughts hold up over time.
Thanks for sharing about the backpack. I've been curious about some of their other bags as well. I might need to stop by the store and check them out! 😊
@@MikeBoneMusic quite well. It has been all over the US and on a couple international trips. The only thing I have noted are a couple of the wheel caps have popped off and been lost. But otherwise I am very happy with it.
Totally agree. I had a cheaper suitcase and upgraded to a bigger carry on once my old one broke. I’ve taken it domestically in the US and to Columbia, Spain, France, Greece, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Ethiopia in the last 2 years with no problems besides scuffs (although I actually kind of like them, it’s like when leather gets a patina). I will say I would not upgrade only for the battery, laundry bag, compression, etc... as they are not entirely necessary. However, they do make life a little easier so I have no regrets about the suitcase.
I just saw your video. I ordered the regular Away carry on and took it on one road trip and one European trip. I am 76 years old and I had to have help putting it into the overhead bin even though it’s small. It is a little heavy. I have been a Travelpro fan for years and still like them. However I absolutely love the interior organization in the Away bags. When my Swissgear medium bag that has held up amazingly for years gives out I will replace it with a medium Away bag also. I travel 7 or 8 times a year both in road trips and on planes. By the way, I am still impressed with my Swissgear bag that I got at TJMaxx.
My TravelPro bag that I bought many years ago at Marshall's has also lasted a long time. In fact, we still use it for a lot of trips. Though I am starting to appreciate the 4-wheel design on our Away bags. 😊
I've had my away suitcase for over two years and love it. Mine was one of the first iterations so it didn't have the retractable battery ejector. Away did send me a new handle with the ejectable battery but for whatever reason I wasn't able to get it to work properly..so now I just keep the battery in my backpack. Other than that, I've put a lot of use on my Away bag and its held up quite nicely! Great review! Also, I will probably add some kind of soft cushion for the handle.
It's worth trying the eBags TLS Motherlode 21" wheeled duffel. Although it has 2 wheels instead of 4, it's currently $119 and very sturdy. The handle is not loose, stitching is amazing, and it doesn't tip over. The wheels roll very smoothly, and it can open clamshell style or as one large cavern. It is not hard shell all the way around, but the back half is. It also has a lifetime warranty. In my opinion, because of the price, the TLS is a better value.
Apologies if this has been mentioned before. Please keep in mind that Away bag's handle has only two fixed positions - fully extended and 3/4" extended. This can be (and was) a deal breaker for people who used to roll their suitcases with their arm almost entirely down instead of being bent at the elbow. I went and checked their cases today and this alone stopped me from buying one.
Why or how would someone roll their suitcase with the handle only sticking up a couple inches? I’m extremely short and have never rolled luggage this way. I’m guessing it still rolls while the handle is completely down though?
@@gregslonim4190 Hmm I’d imagine if you’re under 4’ you’d need different luggage altogether. Or perhaps people are pulling their suitcase with their arm resting down at their side, which could fix by carrying it extended out beside you.
I decided to get an Away suitcase when my Samsonite bag started falling apart. I take 4-5 trips a year where I use the Away large bag. It has held up nicely, though it does get scuffed up. I think the review is spot on. The suitcase is well made and serves the frequent traveler well.
I’m stille enjoying my Away Carry-On with pocket for almost two years now. Combined with the insider packing cubes and the battery they are absolutely the best.
Love the review. I purchased my first Away luggage back in 2018 (The Carry-On) simply because I saw the hype around the brand and fell in love with it. Also, purchased the Large today. Although the carry-on weighs more than most, every airline I have flown with hasn't weighed it so it's not a breaking factor. The ejectable battery comes in the clutch especially when connecting flights and layovers are involved. It chargers both phones and laptops at rapid speed (better than other portable chargers I've ever had). The only con I have is the luggage does require cleaning every now and then because they pick up scuff marks, but they can easily be removed with a good scrub with a magic eraser. Overall, I will say it's worth the money if you are a mid to heavy traveler or simply want something that's trendy, but not so much if you are looking for something to get the job done and don't travel a lot.
Just used your referral code to get the Bigger Carry On and can’t wait! I opted for the battery version (even though it’s only USB 2.0) since the interior is the same size in both regardless. Thanks for the time and thought you put into your channel!
I have the bigger carry-on aluminum version and I love it. Customer service has also been great when I needed it. What sold me was the 100 day free trial and lifetime guarantee
Have the carry on and medium bags. Love them both. Very lite weight but sturdy, wheels work great, haven’t had any issues and have travelled a good bit in the year and a half that I have owned them. Would buy again.
Me.. still using $25 suitcase mom bought for freshman college in 1998 😂 yeah it’s been around the world and my longest relationship.. yeah if only a man was like this suitcase and my long time reliable 2001 Toyota & Honda & 2017.
I love my Away Carry-On! One thing I hate about most carry-ons is the cross strap on one side of the suitcase. Unless you use packing cubes those cross straps are worthless and the items on that side always fall out upon opening the bag...yet most pieces of luggage feature that horrible strap.
I travel international and it meets the requirements of most if not all countries on L-W-D. I bought this bag and my previous bag is still going strong but I had to replace both wheels myself as this was a custom bag. That bag has endured being checked and carry on for 30 trips international. I like Away because it is quality and unlike some comments below I only will use this 10A battery that Away provides. I need not carry other batteries. I did pack for 8 days (actually 6 as a day out and back to Ukraine) and it held all I had. My other bag would expand but would not fit into the cages some airlines have but this one does for all including AirFrance which is very picky about carry on size. Yes it is expensive but I doubt I will wear this out and if it breaks I will have to send it off because I don't live in one of the cities listed. So what, I kept the box for this contingency just in case and recommend this to other users that don't live close to their Away locations. I am satisfied that this luggage and I am rather picky so nice job Away...
Other than weight, my issue is with the use of zippers. While yes you can lock the zippers, a simply ball point pen can open the suitcase in a matter of seconds. I think this would be an excellent bag, had it clasps that provided a more durable and secure closing.
Bonjour! I liked it but two things deterred me from making the purchase. One was misleading information from the staff in the store in NYC. The other is the reports telling how the CEO is nasty. I cannot bring myself to purchase. I got hold of GOPENGUIN and it is equivalent in style and quality.
Yup! I won’t buy an Away bag. Found GoPenguin in my research ordered 2 of them. Love them!!!! They don’t have the battery to it but I rather have the half price cost and use my Anker 26800 mAh portable charger. I recommend the GoPenguin bags to everyone now. And if you sign up for their email list your 2 year warranty transfers to a lifetime warranty. And a plus of being on their email list, I scored a coupon to use towards another one of their products. 💕
I only travel maybe 4 times a year, my genius pack is perfect which was on sale is way cheaper and made just as well and I only upgraded because my truly well made Jump kora set have trolly wheels and I wanted to try spinners
Something for buyers to note: only a few colors have the USB charging pack option. Various signature colors do not, as well as none of the expandable suitcase versions, nor any of the limited edition colors. I’m still interested in purchasing Away luggage but it’s a detail worth knowing, and I wish they’d include the USB feature on all carry-on colors/versions.
I have a cheap carryon, and I fight with it throughout the airport. It would be OK if I checked it, but my every step is filled with regret as I go to my gate. I have taken it on two trips and I am ready to upgrade. I HATE the wheels. Next bag will be an Away.
I completely understand. When I first started traveling for work in 2007, I was determined to use an old suitcase. It wasn't until I got a new one that I realized how much I was missing with my old suitcase. 😊
I really appreciate your review. I always felt I don’t need it. I bought a 3 piece set from ebags and the brand is Beverly Hills country club in 2013 (20”, 24” & 28” hardside 4 wheel, I don’t use the 28” it’s too big) then in 2015 from ebags a Delsey 25” hardside 4 wheel. I only fly 1 or 2 times a year so these have held up nicely. They are going to last along time for me. So I agree they may be good for people who fly more frequently.
Thanks! It's definitely a luxury item and not the best choice for everyone. Delsey makes great bags too. It was the brand that I purchased when I first started traveling for work, and that bag was one of my favorites. 😊
There is now an Away store in Canada, at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto. I purchased the large and my initial view is that it is overpriced. I will see after my inaugural trip. If it does not meet my expectations, I will return it given their 100 day trial period.
I own an Away luggage and LOVE it! It holds so much and my content stays organized. Is it's worth the price?? Probably not for some but it's my go-to luggage no matter the length of my trip. Another bag you should review is the Ebag Motherlode Junior Carry-on backpack!
Tyneshia Hardison I checked out the Motherlode bags many, many times but they are so heavy empty and that made me decide not to buy no matter how good they are.
Meiwun Oviatt well of course they are not for all but it worked well for me when I went to Tokyo for 7 days 🤷🏽♀️ I was able to pack so much into it and it was the only bag I carried.
Tyneshia Hardison my husband and I travel internationally several times each year as we have a vacation home on an island in Thailand and it is not how much or how little we bring with us, it is how heavy so that we do not exceed airlines’ allowance. I agree the Motherlode are great bags as there are so many great reviews and I have been tempted many times to buy them but the weight always put me off.
Meiwun Oviatt interesting. I’ve used it for 2 trips so far and never had to check it and it was packed to capacity. My goal is to never check a bag, and so far so good. I like having several options for travel and for the price of the Mothetlode (purchase during the holidays) adding it to my collection of options was a no brainer. But again, it’s not for all
Got the card but missed the credit by a few weeks. Did like the looks of the Amex green zipper bigger carry on. Without the credit, got a set of Vera Bradley my wife wanted. Too bad they didn’t add a $ 50 offer on Amex offers.
I just ordered 2 bags. In 2019 I had a prop break while flying to LA for AX. It was a soft shell one. Hopefully Away bags will protect my cosplay and props better.
I have the aluminum carry on and check in bag. I agree with you that they are nice bags for the price point, and I too and less-than-pleased with the shaky handles. If you request the bags without the battery, they still leave the housing the battery would sit in, in the bag, which takes up space. Also its the same price whether you want the battery or not. I'd edge on the side that they are a touch overhyped. This all being said, if I didn't already own Away luggage I wouldn't purchase them. Their product is not worth, to me, knowingly supporting a company with unacceptable business practices, especially toward their marginalized minority employees. There are other quality options available.
Yeah, there are so many options out there. I feel like there's a new smart luggage brand on Kickstarter every day. I'm hoping the workplace issues are getting resolved too with some of the new leadership. 😬
Thanks for checking out our video and channel! I still think some of the best value bags can be found in overstock discount stores (e.g., TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, etc.). Also, I've heard great reviews of the bags on ebags.com and Costco suitcases (Kirkland-branded).
Honestly, you can find great suitcases at places like Costco, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Ross. You can often find reputable brands like TravelPro for quite cheap. 😎
It's definitely a subjective question. I would personally say a frequent traveler is someone who travels 2-3 times per year, or at least once internationally per year. Though I'm sure that others have different definitions for "frequent."
That's a tough question to answer since everyone is different. I've definitely traveled overseas on just a carry-on bag, but it really depends on the destination and the type of trip. On my last 3 week trip overseas, I made a point to do laundry while traveling which helped me pack lighter.
We haven't had any issues with our Away bags, despite traveling with them (both check-in and carry-on) on international flights. Though I'm sure others have different experiences and perspectives.
found this video after I got one, also somehow didn't know it was an influencer bag (wouldn't been an immediate red flag)...I was just looking up good hardcase luggage that came in different colors because that's how your bag doesn't get stolen easily. I've been using my peptobismal pink carryon from Brookstone for 20y that was maybe $70....and didn't realize they went out of business a while ago and couldn't get get a larger one from them so was looking for something in a similarly standout color and hardcase. top comment here says they've used their away bag for 2y and the shell cracked....my other hardback is about 20y old and MANY trips/intl trips and the most it's got is a dent. It currently is the stand for an airfilter when I'm at home and unzipped works great as a sturdy platform. The away medium bag I got that looks similar is a flimsy joke in comparison and right out of the box I want to return it. It won't stay put without caving in on its own unzipped, and it's clearly cheap and flimsy.
I would definitely return it if you're not happy with the bag. Also, I miss Brookstone! I have tons of memories of going to one at my local mall as a kid. 😄
I wish the Away choices had a side pocket when I purchased mine. I really miss having one. And not having a handle on the bottom is a drag. Why didn’t they think of these features right at the start?
We haven't had any problems while traveling to the UK last year (as a carry-on). Though since most of our travel was canceled this year, we haven't had a chance to travel much with it.
I missed the boat on this one. I had the $100 credit with the Green card, but I procrastinated long enough the credit elapsed. Now, I want he bag and appears I will be paying full price :)
The deadline mentioned in the blogs was the deadline to sign up for the card with the away credit. You have 90 days to use your credit. I just confirmed my understanding via chat. You can earn up to $100 in statement credits on eligible purchases made directly at select Away stores in the U.S. and/or on "AwayTravel.com" using your Green from Amex within the first 3 months of Card Membership, starting from the date your account is approved.
1st time poster and I only heard about this brand a few days ago when I read an article about them opening up a store here in Toronto. Good review but the suitcase seems too heavy to be used as carry-on as others have mentioned. Personally I'd pass. My Heys carry-on is lighter and I've been using it for almost 10 years now!
I’ve used the hard side larger carry on size for about six domestic work trips last year. Wasn’t too heavy as a carry on at all for me. It does scuff easily if you check it, but mine have held up really well. The biggest complaint I have is the handle. It feels a little loose to me and I think it could have been made better. The other thing I worry about is the side handle coming off if you carry it on the side if your larger suitcase is heavy. (I have a Medium size too) But it may just be me worrying needlessly.
We personally haven't had any issues with the weight. We tend to travel light, but I know some airlines are a lot more strict about weight requirements. 😬
Thank you! I've been missing everyone and creating videos too. I just wish I had more time. I thought I was busy before, but now with a toddler, it's even harder to find free time to pursue making videos. Luckily, there are a lot of awesome creators in the space. 😊
I think I covered the warranty in the video. It’s a limited lifetime warranty that covers the shell, zipper, handles, and wheels. From what I’ve heard, it seems to be a big selling point for the suitcase. 👍
Can you compare the normal Away suitcase to the expandable version? I am trying to decide which one to get but am not sure which version would be better.
I'll definitely consider it. There's definitely pros and cons to both styles. For the normal (hard case) suitcase, it's easier to clean and you get the battery compartment. The expandable loses the battery compartment and the fabric gets dirty easily, but the extra expansion and front pocket are really useful.
Blake Fealy You can use your own battery pack in there, but since the suitcase comes with one, I usually just take the extra one with me in the suitcase just in case the other one hasn’t been charged up. I also did a video on the away suitcase on my channel if you want to take a look at that. Thanks I hope it helps.
Thanks. I was on the fence about buying an Away carry-on and a Weekender on sale. I want to bee prepared for 2021 when travel finally opens back up and I can return to Vietnam. Thanks for the info
Nice Review bro!, But have you ever heard about Nomad Lane Bento Bag? I have been using this travel bag for quite some time, and I have never been so satisfied with a travel bag, it is a duffel bag but packs like a suitcase so its like a luggage , but a carry on. It looks very stylish also, perfect for fashionistas out there. Compartments? it has so many, it also has a trolley sleeve so whenever you want to put it at rest just put it o your luggage bag. Plus, it fits under your plane seat. Perfect travel bag for me.
It seems somewhat water resistant to me. It has a protective lip that covers the zipper. It's certainly more water resistant than my other suitcases. 👍
Trip Astute Maybe I am just picky... But it is a little hard to hear you with that echo in the room... The echo causes listening fatigue, since you have to pay closer attention to understand you. Try a lapel mic, see if you hear a difference! Of course you could also put sound abortion material on your walls like they did on the What’s Inside channel... And if you used both, that would really up the production quality! Being able to hear you clearly is the most important thing! Video is nothing without audio... You deserve to be heard!
I check my luggage, so my bag is larger. I use an Osprey Ozone (75L) that weighs only 5.1 pounds vs Away 40L/8.1 lbs or 52L/9.92 lbs. I actually have a $100 Away credit that I am struggling to use.
The CEO was (still is?) brutalizing her low paid employees, shaming them, pressuring them to work crazy hours, evenings, holidays, etc. I really don’t want to support a company with those values.
(re 5:07) are you sure those are Aquaguard zippers? Those definitely do NOT look like Aquagard to me at all. Aquaguard zippers do not "have a larger lip". They have a obvious plasticy coating which looks like it's water resistant.
I love how timeless they are and obviously the metal casing gives them more stability than most other suitcases could dream of. They’re incredibly well-made - the handles or locks have never once failed me in all those years - and it’s all very nice materials like leather and metal. The inside pockets are what all businessmen dream of: two flexible pockets for shirts, ties etc and the possibility to divide the suitcase into three flexible compartments - that is the basic set, there’s one with even more pockets and possibilities. It’s relatively lightweight considering the classy materials used and it just shows who you are and what you want. I absolutely swear by it.
Away suitcases are way too heavy for international travel standards, they seem to only suit the domestic US market only. Most international airlines have a 7kg or 10kg weight allowance for carry-on luggage. Their carry on weighs more than my large check in from Antler that is super robust. Totally overhyped brand, just wait for Antler or Samsonite to go on sale
These Away suitcases are horrible quality, and this company is scamming its customers, I agree with the people that are saying that they are going broke and need to scam customers to survive. I personally was denied a return, or even an exchange when they promise they would offer 100 days for free return and lifetime warranty. The real customers reviews are all bad without exception, the ones on their website are all made up. My suitcase was extremely small and scratches very easily, and the customer service only through email and not helpful at all. I don't recommend Away!!
Away is basically lower quality for the same price as traditional brands. It has some nice features, but the wheel and zipper on the case is clearly inferior quality. Their Hinomoto wheels are lower quality Hinomoto wheels. The zipper is single coil and is not tamper proof. You really aren't saving money by buying Away. You are paying more for a lower quality case with a battery pack. Away is mostly IG marketing. No one from inside the luggage industry would use an Away. Spend the same amount of money on a traditional brand and get higher quality.

In my opinion, because of the price, the TLS is a better value.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll have it to check it out. 👍
I have the TLS ML and it's amazing so good I just bought 2 of the monument hardside 29" that's how impress k was with their quality
Good point. It's definitely something to consider. 👍
Why or how would someone roll their suitcase with the handle only sticking up a couple inches? I’m extremely short and have never rolled luggage this way. I’m guessing it still rolls while the handle is completely down though?
@@MsStarryEyed because some people aren’t as tall as others.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying your Away suitcase. 😊
I’m stille enjoying my Away Carry-On with pocket for almost two years now. Combined with the insider packing cubes and the battery they are absolutely the best.
That's great to hear. Thanks for sharing your experience. 👍
Thanks for sharing your experience! I completely agree with you. And great idea on using the magic eraser. 👍
At 8 pounds for a carry on, it's too heavy. So many airlines now have a 17 pound weight limit.
Hmm. I’ve not had any issues with carry-on weight, but it might be something that I take into account the next time I fly.
@@TripAstute Qantas have 10kg limit per carry-on bag and 15kg combined between 1 carry-on and 1 personal carry bag. The away is way too heavy.
Just used your referral code to get the Bigger Carry On and can’t wait! I opted for the battery version (even though it’s only USB 2.0) since the interior is the same size in both regardless. Thanks for the time and thought you put into your channel!
Thanks for the kind words and support. I hope you enjoy your new suitcase! 😊
I have the bigger carry-on aluminum version and I love it. Customer service has also been great when I needed it. What sold me was the 100 day free trial and lifetime guarantee
The lifetime guarantee is a huge selling point for me too. And from what I've heard, it seems like they honor it without any questions. 👍
Have the carry on and medium bags. Love them both. Very lite weight but sturdy, wheels work great, haven’t had any issues and have travelled a good bit in the year and a half that I have owned them. Would buy again.
Awesome! Glad you’re enjoying your bags. Thanks for sharing your experience. 👍
Me.. still using $25 suitcase mom bought for freshman college in 1998 😂 yeah it’s been around the world and my longest relationship.. yeah if only a man was like this suitcase and my long time reliable 2001 Toyota & Honda & 2017.
😂🤣
I love my Away Carry-On! One thing I hate about most carry-ons is the cross strap on one side of the suitcase. Unless you use packing cubes those cross straps are worthless and the items on that side always fall out upon opening the bag...yet most pieces of luggage feature that horrible strap.
Thanks for sharing. I agree with you -- that cross strap in most suitcases never seems to do the trick! 😄
I love my away luggage . I have the bigger and small Carry on luggage . I love it so much
It's definitely a great suitcase! 👍
Thanks for sharing your experience! 👍
Other than weight, my issue is with the use of zippers. While yes you can lock the zippers, a simply ball point pen can open the suitcase in a matter of seconds. I think this would be an excellent bag, had it clasps that provided a more durable and secure closing.
How can you open it with a ball point pen ,please?
There are a ton of videos on it: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=open+suitcase+with+pen
Bonjour! I liked it but two things deterred me from making the purchase. One was misleading information from the staff in the store in NYC. The other is the reports telling how the CEO is nasty. I cannot bring myself to purchase. I got hold of GOPENGUIN and it is equivalent in style and quality.
You’re the second person that’s mentioned GOPENGUIN to me. I need to check out their bags and compare them to the Away suitcase.
For someone who travels once a year, I think a good cheap suitcase would work but if you travel a lot you could get this.
I agree! 👍
I only travel maybe 4 times a year, my genius pack is perfect which was on sale is way cheaper and made just as well and I only upgraded because my truly well made Jump kora set have trolly wheels and I wanted to try spinners
Very cool. There are so many bag and luggage options out there. 👍
Good to know. Thanks for sharing the tip! 👍
For sure. You should definitely return it if it doesn't meet your expectations. 👍
I own an Away luggage and LOVE it! It holds so much and my content stays organized. Is it's worth the price?? Probably not for some but it's my go-to luggage no matter the length of my trip. Another bag you should review is the Ebag Motherlode Junior Carry-on backpack!
Very cool! Glad to hear that you're loving your Away suitcase. And thanks for the tip on the backpack -- I'll have to check it out. 😊
But again, it’s not for all
I got the Amex special edition one and it’s awesome! Totally worth the money plus I got $150 off when I got the green card 🙌🏻
That’s awesome! 👍
Same here🥰 love the mint color
Got the card but missed the credit by a few weeks. Did like the looks of the Amex green zipper bigger carry on. Without the credit, got a set of Vera Bradley my wife wanted. Too bad they didn’t add a $ 50 offer on Amex offers.
I just ordered 2 bags. In 2019 I had a prop break while flying to LA for AX. It was a soft shell one. Hopefully Away bags will protect my cosplay and props better.
Hope it works better for you as well! 👍
Great video! Great info!
Thank you! I'm glad the video was helpful. 😊
Just a correction there is also a Canadian Away shop in Toronto
Thanks for the correction! 👍
i love the honest review
Thank you for this video. I’m content with going for a less expensive bag. What do you recommend.
Like the bad, but the lack of an international carry-on size is a deadbreaker.
What is your recommended luggage for infrequent travelers?
Honestly, you can find great suitcases at places like Costco, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, and Ross. You can often find reputable brands like TravelPro for quite cheap. 😎
decided to buy and used your referal code ... thanks we had a really ratty suitcase that my husband used and we are travelling to UK in March
Nice! Thanks for using our code. Hope you like the suitcase. 😊
Not willing to pay the price being that I don't travel often. Bought a Travelers club luggage set instead.
Yeah, the Away bag is definitely pricey, especially if you don't travel that often. 👍
does the "bigger carry-on" come with that front pocket standard??
great informative video thanks for the review
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
Great review and comparison!
Thanks Kenneth! I appreciate the feedback. 😊
What do you consider as a frequent Traveller? Someone that travels less than once per year?
It's definitely a subjective question. I would personally say a frequent traveler is someone who travels 2-3 times per year, or at least once internationally per year. Though I'm sure that others have different definitions for "frequent."
I am taking a international trip for a week do you think the bigger carry on bag will be big enough for this trip?
That's a tough question to answer since everyone is different. I've definitely traveled overseas on just a carry-on bag, but it really depends on the destination and the type of trip. On my last 3 week trip overseas, I made a point to do laundry while traveling which helped me pack lighter.
@@TripAstute thank you! I am a light packer anyway so I think I might can get away with a away luggage carry on bag.
How durable is it? That’s the main concern when your bag is being slammed onto the plane
We haven't had any issues with our Away bags, despite traveling with them (both check-in and carry-on) on international flights. Though I'm sure others have different experiences and perspectives.
the international plug adapters is something never knew about i'm pretty much sold now lol
Ha! Glad the video was helpful. 😄
found this video after I got one, also somehow didn't know it was an influencer bag (wouldn't been an immediate red flag)...I was just looking up good hardcase luggage that came in different colors because that's how your bag doesn't get stolen easily.
I agree about the bottom handle. That is a very useful feature! 👍
Do you have problems with international travel with the bigger carry on?
We haven't had any problems while traveling to the UK last year (as a carry-on). Though since most of our travel was canceled this year, we haven't had a chance to travel much with it.
I missed the boat on this one. I had the $100 credit with the Green card, but I procrastinated long enough the credit elapsed. Now, I want he bag and appears I will be paying full price :)
Sorry to hear that! I was hoping to get this video out before that credit expired, but couldn't pull it together in time. 😄
Great detailed review Ernest! I love my Rimowas though ;)
Thanks Chris! Those Rimowas are fancy. 😎
Hope you are doing well! 😊
I just bought the bigger carry on size and the everywhere bag and I love both. I plan on buying more items from them.
Very cool! They are great bags. I'm thinking of getting their backpack too so I can review it for the channel.
Great review! Thanks.
Thank you! Glad that the video was helpful. 😊
Great review 👏🏻
Thank you! I appreciate it. 😊
Thanks! If your carry-on has been working for 10+ years, then it's definitely well-made. 👍
What about packing it??
We have had no issues with packing it. The compartments are similar to most other suitcases.
I have an away bag and it is the best suitcase I have had as a carry on!
We really like our Away bags as well, though I know a lot of people are critical of them. They seem to meet our needs very well. 😎
What about the weight? In my research I find those are heavier than the rest... what do you think? also, what about size between a large an a medium?
We personally haven't had any issues with the weight. We tend to travel light, but I know some airlines are a lot more strict about weight requirements. 😬
Miss your videos Ernest, stay safe. Hope you upload a video soon
Thank you! I've been missing everyone and creating videos too. I just wish I had more time. I thought I was busy before, but now with a toddler, it's even harder to find free time to pursue making videos. Luckily, there are a lot of awesome creators in the space. 😊
Thanks for the review - what about Away warranty?
I think I covered the warranty in the video. It’s a limited lifetime warranty that covers the shell, zipper, handles, and wheels. From what I’ve heard, it seems to be a big selling point for the suitcase. 👍
This is such a helpful video-thanks so much! Subscribing! 👏🏼
Thanks! Just checked out your channel as well. You have awesome content! 😊
Trip Astute thank you SO much!!!
Very helpful. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful and useful. 👍
I don’t see the link for the discount code. Please share
It should be in the video description: tripast.link/get-away
Hopefully that works! 😊
Does Away use YKK zippers?
Can you compare the normal Away suitcase to the expandable version? I am trying to decide which one to get but am not sure which version would be better.
I'll definitely consider it. There's definitely pros and cons to both styles. For the normal (hard case) suitcase, it's easier to clean and you get the battery compartment. The expandable loses the battery compartment and the fabric gets dirty easily, but the extra expansion and front pocket are really useful.
i love my away suitcase and i feel so confident with it because so many other celebs have them (harry and meghan, kylie jenner, elizabeth banks, etc)
It is a well-designed suitcase and attractive suitcase! 😎
Do those celebs you mentioned actually use them though
@@MaeSekouthere are paparazzi photos of them with the suitcase. i don’t think it’s product placement because the logo isn’t very visible.
Friend had a aluminum rimowa from Europe . After couple flights check in , the bag didn’t look the same 😂
Ha! I've seen a lot of worn out Rimowa bags as well and have wondered how their owners must feel. 😬
I really want to buy the carry on one but they did not ship to my country. Hope to be soon as I be eyeing this bag since last year🤣
Sorry to hear that! Hope they start shipping to more international locations soon. 👍
Nice review, thanks!
Thanks! 😊
do you know the dimensions of the battery pack? Can I put my own battery pack in there?
Blake Fealy You can use your own battery pack in there, but since the suitcase comes with one, I usually just take the extra one with me in the suitcase just in case the other one hasn’t been charged up. I also did a video on the away suitcase on my channel if you want to take a look at that. Thanks I hope it helps.
Thanks. I was on the fence about buying an Away carry-on and a Weekender on sale. I want to bee prepared for 2021 when travel finally opens back up and I can return to Vietnam. Thanks for the info
Yeah, the sales prices are great right now! We just purchased another Away suitcase as well. 👍
I love my away suitcase.
Awesome! I'm been very happy with our Away suitcases as well. 😊
Thank you for the video. It was very helpfull
Awesome. Glad to hear that the video was helpful. 😊
I literally got a Rimowa ad for this video
😂😂
Nice Review bro!, But have you ever heard about Nomad Lane Bento Bag? I have been using this travel bag for quite some time, and I have never been so satisfied with a travel bag, it is a duffel bag but packs like a suitcase so its like a luggage , but a carry on. It looks very stylish also, perfect for fashionistas out there. Compartments? it has so many, it also has a trolley sleeve so whenever you want to put it at rest just put it o your luggage bag. Plus, it fits under your plane seat. Perfect travel bag for me.
That sounds like a great bag. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip! 👍
Im getting the Bigger Carryon...biggest decision on this for me is which color I want.
Very cool! We definitely love our Away bags too. We can't wait to start using them again -- once we start traveling again! 😉
Great video.
Thanks! 😊
I like the suitcases but, for me, the major drawback is that the zipper is not water resistant.
It seems somewhat water resistant to me. It has a protective lip that covers the zipper. It's certainly more water resistant than my other suitcases. 👍
I needed this video 😁
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
May I suggest using a wired or wireless lapel mic to improve your audio...The Rode Wireless Go is popular and cheap (for wireless)...
Wow, didn't realize my audio was so bad. I've been using a Zoom H1 for years, but I thought it was decent. 😞
You deserve to be heard!
what's rへprice comparison?
$225 for the Carry-on vs $295 for the Bigger Carry-on with Pocket.
I check my luggage, so my bag is larger. I use an Osprey Ozone (75L) that weighs only 5.1 pounds vs Away 40L/8.1 lbs or 52L/9.92 lbs. I actually have a $100 Away credit that I am struggling to use.
I absolutely love Osprey bags. I don’t have any of their suitcases, but I’ve always wanted to test them out. Their backpacks are awesome! 😎
Lifetime warranty
The CEO was (still is?) brutalizing her low paid employees, shaming them, pressuring them to work crazy hours, evenings, holidays, etc. I really don’t want to support a company with those values.
The Away suitcases really need a wheel lock though
Yeah, that would be a great feature. 👍
but the EXPANDABLE doesnt have a battery pack in the suitcase!?
Unfortunately, it doesn't have a battery pack slot. But that front pocket is quite useful.
This looks great but it's so poor that the battery pack doesn't have USB-C
That's a good point. This video is a few years old, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have updated their battery packs since then.
I just bought a London fog
I’m happy enough with that right now
But “away” sounds good
Nice! There are so many great suitcases out there. Happy travels! 😊
(re 5:07) are you sure those are Aquaguard zippers? Those definitely do NOT look like Aquagard to me at all. Aquaguard zippers do not "have a larger lip". They have a obvious plasticy coating which looks like it's water resistant.
Haha I love asksebby
Sebastian and Mandy are awesome! 😊
Rimowa or nothing. I swear by this brand, it’s high-end, made in Europe and it’s super sleek and elegant...
Those are some very well-engineered and luxurious suitcases! 😎
Some of the parts are made in China. Assembled in Canada, Brazil, and Europe. A Taiwan company makes the pull handle on some of their models.
If I ever own a Rimova it’d be the largest carryon they offer. I wouldn’t want to buy a larger sized checked luggage
❤
Thank you! 😊
👍🏽
Away suitcases are way too heavy for international travel standards, they seem to only suit the domestic US market only. Most international airlines have a 7kg or 10kg weight allowance for carry-on luggage. Their carry on weighs more than my large check in from Antler that is super robust. Totally overhyped brand, just wait for Antler or Samsonite to go on sale
i think it is way over priced. i got a blue one but i wished i waited.
Sorry to hear that! 🙁
Yikes! That sounds terrible. Thanks for sharing your experience and letting others know. 😞
This stuff seems expensive
It's definitely more expensive than what you can find at discount stores and warehouses like Costco.
gopenguin suitcases comes out of the same factory
I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the tip. 👍
I’ve heard this from UA-cam reviewing the Go Penguin bags. My Go Penguin bags haven’t let us down. Love them.
