    Heck Tim, ‘Juryriggin’ is half the fun of Triking. Sidebags? Two cheap Walmart coolerbags, grommets in web strap, steel ‘O’ Rings ziptied to seatframe, ‘S’ hook/biners to attach ‘em, “Walah” Holds most of my accessible needs. One cooler has velcro flap on top. ....Lookin’ to hear some more ideas! (Like the tentpoles)

    lol Tim, you are bright in so many ways! I agree about the satisfaction of your own creative fixes. My other hobby is collecting vintage travel trailers, so the fixes must often be rigged. Like when I broke a 'clam shell' vent on my Sprite, I had to replace it with an actual clam shell.

    Tim! Might have been me that suggested a hydration pack. I bit the bullet and bought side bag hardware from TerraCycle. I bought a used side bag paying the cost of postage for it that uses the same bracket system to attach it. Might be the best addition to my trike. I use it every ride. Your self-made system is brilliant. Wish I had the skills to do that.

      I could have mentioned the Terra cycle mounts in the video. They are a quality product for sure but they do come at a price and as usual we don.t have a direct supplier in the UK as far as I'm aware.

      @@TimsTrikeTripsTrips You could have used a product called PVC , that is what we use in Canada and some in the USA it works great you can glue it or use screws to assemble it. I will continue to watch see you later.

    Hi Tim - Due to get my pre-loved trike in a few days, so revisiting your older video ideas. I hate handlebar extenders; too fragile and the tiny grub screw tighteners strip and break. It occurred to me that if you can use a P-clip to stabilise an electric assist, they'd also do your extender job - one round each tube making a figure 8 and bolt them together in the middle. Probably stronger and definitely cheaper so you can use lots and the bracket will be more secure too

      I love looking through their catalogue but it just leaves me frustrated at...
      a) the cost and
      b) they don't ship to the UK.

    Tim, I like the hat; it provides good shade. I usually wear a baseball cap, but the additional shade of your cap would be nice. Lots of recumbent trike riders here in Florida wear bicycle helmets; seems a bit too much if on a trail specifically for non-motorized vehicles.

    • @TimsTrikeTrips

      Thanks Mark. All the hours we spend outside under that sun... we definitely need some extra cover. You have the same opinion as I do on helmets but each to their own. If people want to wear them then all good luck to them. I know the risks and choose not to, thats all.

    Great videos again.
    I just watched the last 2 because I did not have the time yet, to watch them when you uploaded them.
    I am moving to my new home and I must have the old home cleaned out before Monday.
    Strap a rubber mut flap on your mudguard in the back.
    You have them also for the front ones. Than you side baghs also stay a bit cleaner.
    In the rear, just drill some holes and use some straps.
    You can also use some other materials to extend the rear.
    This ortlieb bags are great. I have now 2 and I love them.

    Nice job, thanks for sharing. Side bags are a project for my trike in the future, makes sense now how they fit in the cockpit, I thought the bags would be further forward and get in the way of steering.
    Any way your rear mudguard can go further out to stop the mud spray? You could also line the rack you've built with some plastic to stop some of the muck closer to the seat. Cheers.

      Thanks Steve. On both my bracket and the commercially available ones you can set the bag further forward or backward as you feel comfortable. One thing I forgot to mention was that I actually have my side bags set up so I can rest my elbows on them while still having my hands on the steering. I love 'em 👍

    £170 for mudguards is beyond daft! The rear is a standard mountain bike mudguard isn’t it? Surely a cheapo one could be modified to fit? I suspect the fronts aren’t much more than standard ones either just with holes drilled in different places...
    Well done diddly - nice video. Quite like to see more of where you are rather than so much ‘selfie’ but very enjoyable and nice music too.

    Hi Tim enjoy your videos very informative, Your wet bum problem why not go and ask a commercial tyre fitters for inner tube if they have a scrap one off a lorry would do to line out your rack, fixing with cable ties would also make a pouch to put a water bladder in also look in poundland for mud guards or on ebay for cheap ones and pop rivet them over the front ones, maybe car boot might find mud guards too I got my head rest from a scrap yard Citroen grand picasso [not the C4 model] cost a fiver just have to find a way of mounting it to my trike seat [trike is an Optima Rider]

    Great bracket, wish I was competent at welding. Just got my first ice trike and struggle to justify spending £44 on a handlebar mount. I'm looking at close to £300 just on 2 handlebar bags and mounts!
    Am looking at making my own, I've used plastic rods and scaffolding clamps on my previous trike but they look ugly.
    Do you find those clamps on the back of the seat heavy duty enough? Trying to find them on Amazon but some reviews on the ones I've found suggest they're prone to rotating on the tube.

    • @TimsTrikeTrips
      @TimsTrikeTrips 4 роки тому

      All the mounts and brackets I've found are expensive but then they are bespoke items I suppose.
      I have four of those clamps to spread the load and they seem to be working fine together. The positioning is vital though as you wouldn't want just one or two to be doing all the work.

    Tim, you probably have already made a video on how your cameras are mounted to your trike, if you have, could you tell me which video it is. Do you hold your camera with one hand and drive with the other. I have attempted to mount my camera on my trike but too much vibration. Also what type of video camera do you use? I was looking at the go-pro, they want arm and leg for them. Your video’s are so professional.

    Comment number two: there are some accessories that in my opinion should come standard with a trike given how much a trike costs. Fenders are such accessories. But I also understand that such accessories are revenue streams for the trike company. But £170 is quite high.

    • @TimsTrikeTrips
      @TimsTrikeTrips 5 років тому

      Yes, I guess they have to turn a profit too. That £170 was for a full set of fenders too and the front pair are quite technical.
