I started reading The Witcher novels because of this channel. Recently finished Sword of Destiny and I was blown away. Great recommendation, loving these videos!!
Good to see you still going strong. I started the Witcher books because of your reviews being so positive. I’m still on the first one but enjoying it greatly
So, while I'm not done with Lady of the Lake yet, Tower of the Swallows may be my favorite Witcher Novel with the tie breaker being the writing style, or the amped up version of his regular style. The coming at the story from multiple angles & in the past & future was done SO well & brilliantly that while Geralt's story here was decent, & Yennifer's was incredibly small & kinda meh, the story still kept you hooked & constantly asking "what happens next?!". It's not often that a writing style makes such an impact! (In my opinion :) )
Given all of your critiques I think you're really going to enjoy the next book in the series and hopefully you'll see that this 'stuck in a rut' phase was included. I could write an essay on just the set up and pay-off of that aspect alone. God I love this series (like romantic love!)
I mean, everything Sapkowski writes in this series is a slow burn save only the first two books. This one is a great example of that, it's a bit tough to get into, but when you're deep into it, you really are into it and the pay off at the end is fucking amazing!
I love to hate Bonhart. I'm an idiot and read the books in the wrong order and read this one before baptism of fire and time of contempt first and now I'm gonna go into lady of the lake after a break while I read the other books. I'm disappointed that fucking maniac didn't die and can't wait to see what happens to Ciri after entering the tower.
I've read up to this point: 1. Sword of Destiny (pretty great, though I remember one story I didn't love - 8) 2. The Last Wish (well-rounded - 7.5) 4. Baptism of Fire (just pretty good - 7.5) 5. Blood of Elves (really good amount of Geralt - 7) 6. The Tower of Swallows (far too little Geralt, and I found the jumping between perspectives annoying and would have preferred to stick to one or two - 6.5) 7. The Time of Contempt (I was deeply bored - 6)
Do you have plot summary videos for these books? Your WoT summaries have been super helpful in clarifying the plot after reading those, and this book confused the heck out of me with its timeline. Thanks!
Daniel, can you please make a video about the winter of the world series? I read two books way back but i forgot almost everything and i am really not sure i should dive into that so i would like to know your thoughts about it and than decide.
After half of book 2 I feel like the narrative has been stuck, for everyone but Ciri, and is truly a shame because Gerald is such a great character, but all we got from him was book 3 which was sort of good for Gerald I guess but no progress for the narrative I feel as if book 3 was a short stories books about Gerald journey but not about the saga tbh and book 4 disappointing for everyone but Ciri again such a shame.
Hey daniel i ordered 3 books:The alloy of the law, Warbreaker (from what i understand there's only one book right now) and Elantris. Wich one should i read first? And what is the chronological order to them all?
If you haven't read the original Mistborn trilogy then I wouldn't recommend reading Alloy of Law. As for the other two it doesn't really matter as the connections between the series are at the easter egg level at this point in the Cosmere so you don't have to read one series to understand another. There is no official chronological order to the Cosmere but a rough chronological order of it (with the short stories excluded) is White Sand, Elantris, Mistborn Era 1, Warbreaker, Stormlight Archive and Mistborn Era 2.
@@captainwilhelm9657 thnx btw yes i read the first era of mistborn and all of stormlight already but the question was what would you prefer to read or what did you like most , anyway thank very much cause i didn't know the chronological order except that warbreaker was before stormlight and you cleared a bit of the fog for me now😁👍
Hannah Brennan Same here. Don’t think I’ve ever actually shed any tears over a book. Lady of the Lake got me multiple times. I was up all night after I finished it. Now I’m replaying the Witcher 3 for the first time since 2015 when I was introduced to the series and god damnit I need my happy ending. I sure hope the Netflix show can do this series justice. There were some troubling missteps in the first season, particularly leaving out Ciri meeting Geralt in Brokilon and a few other confusing changes. Still there’s a lot of clear dedication to the source material that and that gives me hope.
This book had without a doubt the worst storytelling device I've ever come across. If you looked through the window of the hut hidden in the swamp.. but you can't because it's hidden.. anyway let's move on with the story we interrupted FOR NO REASON!!!
It was just a method of expressing how Ciri and Visigota were detached from the rest of the world and how unchanging their status was. Repetition and revisiting ideas is something Sapkowski really likes
It was the minor character chapters I enjoyed most in the Witcher. The politics with Meave and the Kings, the Lodge and Djkstra was right up my alley. Overall I didn't like the series so much after the mage coup.
What’s your favorite Wither book? 🤔
Love The Last Wish. Seeing How Geralt and Yennifer met and how thier fates became entwined is just great!!
Time of contempt because of all the different factions and politics colliding
Lady of the Lake. You are going to absolutely love it!
Tower of Swallows
The Last Wish.

What Bonhart did to Ciri fucked me up like the Eclipse from Berserk.

Reading these books it has become clear, when I played Witcher 3 I definitely abused my signs.
Hhhhh the game is much better

so.. you finally met Leo Bonhart? he's a sick fword indeed
hate that guy with every fiber of my being
I just finished The Lady of the Lake a few days ago and I'm still pissed at that sick bastard.

Love seeing this so many years later... Your bookshelf disobeys all your rules for a good bookshelf, except that it doesn't have a Funco thing.

Sorry if I've asked, but does this series work like Wheel of Time, with the long series arc, or are these books more standalone?
Kevin Warren it's a long arc
first 2 are short stories, next five has one big story arc
Hi sorry not fan of Witcher series 🙁 but I’m fan of urs!! 🍁🍁🌿 happy reading to u!! 🍁🏹
Bonhart was fire 🔥
I disagree with your point on Geralt

I’m curious on what you’ll think about the last Witcher book, the lady of the lake. I personally hated it but loved all the other books
KingInTheNorth98 season of storms is the last ome though
sloesty not chronologically
KingInTheNorth98 You hated it?... WHAT?!
The red wedding of the Witcher is next
I just finished re-reading the last book today. Somehow it hit even harder this time. The last 3rd of Lady of the Lake is just so emotionally draining
@@therabbi9848 I finished Lady of the Lake a few days ago. I'm not a very emotional person, but I was bawling like a baby reading Chapter 9.

Wow that was so annoying I just skipped those parts
The bit in lady of the lake with the women studying dreams in the far future I found to be worse. Uninteresting and made it feel like a drag.
