A couple things about this are wrong: You don't have to have 20/20 vision, and you do not report to your fleet duty station for advanced. Advanced is still flight school in a trainer aircraft.
I'm just a Poolee but I can tell real quickly that what is claimed and what happens aren't the same.
Don't talk to an enlisted recruiter if you want to become a pilot. Talk to an Officer Selection Officer (OSO) instead.
That 200k signing bonus tho
You do have to have a college degree to become an officer. What you can do is enlist while in college and get your degree. Or if you choose to join after high school you can work your way up to a certain extent, but you must have a degree in order to become an officer.
@94ZKing without, if you have it before they begin training you you're fine
because of how extensive the training is if your vision worsens and is correctable then you'll be able to keep working
I believe you can be qualified for flight training if your eyes are better than 20/40 uncorrected, but must be corrected to 20/20. Do not get corrective eye surgery such as LASIK as they can potentially disqualify you.
Thanks, I'll probably talk to a recruiter about it anyway. I'm only 16 but I want to know all this stuff in advance.
on entry you need 20/20...later you can correct, after you have your wings...
ya exactly same here (cobra/viper etc.) let me know if they got back to you
20/20 vision...bullshit!!!!!! well there goes my dreams
Kevin Rodriguez I'm pretty sure you could get corrective eye surgery but this may disqualify you but it's worth a chance if that is your true dream
It’s no worse than 20/200 and you then have to be able to have it correctible to 20/20
Do not quote me, i believe they allow you to have 20/40 vision (correctable to 20/20) Then after training, if your eyesight deteriorates to 20/200 (i believe) you may stay but if any worse you are restricted to aircraft with only dual controlls. If you want to fly the Ah1z Viper, you can't because in a normal operation, one person is Flyer and one is gunner. But you can fly the UH1y Venom or the Ch53e, as they have a pilot and copilot both able to take control.
I do know that the NAVY accepts Lasik and PRK surgery so if can get that done you can join the navy. I am not sure about marines.
You can become a Marine Corps pilot if you correct your vision with LASIK. It's expensive but will definitely be worth it. I have friend who is in flight school for the Marines and he says that most of his buddies got LASIK.
you can get PRK to correct your vision.
lets do it
too late for me now. not sure which eye procedure i did though...
I want to do this.
@charlesw62 Are you sure about that? I've heard you can get waivers for contacts at the very least
Im a poole what steps do I need to take to start my journey to become a pilot
you need 20/20 vision, so no, unless you get eye surgery and correct it
Can I have 20/20 corrective vision(because I do).or do I have to have 20/20 non corrective vision.
@YewMakeMeLolz Yes. You are considered a US citizen if you were born in the US. However, if selected, you will have to swear all your loyalty to the US.
Can anyone tell me about salaries or payment during initial aviation training? I just passed my flight physical and will attend ocs next year.
My vision is pretty F-ed up to say the least but i wear contacts every day
Is it possible to get a wavier for using contacts or will i be able to get approved surgery before I start flight training?
Is it true that if you want to be a pilot then first you have to be a grunt for a year to bond with them
I WANA fly in das huey
I have 20/50 vision. Could they correct my vision for me?
You have to be an American citizen or permanent resident to join the USMC.
I would love to be a marine fighter pilot only thing is I’ve been out a minute. I almost have my associates and I’m working towards a bachelors but I’m wondering if it’s even worth applying for it. I mean I have glasses my visions like 20/19 without it. But is it even worth it for me.
SDMIII : For most people becoming a pilot in the military especially the marine core is worth it. And just check the website for requirements for vision. I think you just need to correct it to 20/20. An important thing to mention is make them say “No” to you. Self Doubt can block you potential in serving the country. Hope this helps
Graduating with my Mechanical Engineering this semester and I think this is a cool route to explore!!! I will update. Currently talking to an Officer trying to get into the Aviation Pipeline. =)
I ended up NOT joining the military because they are vetting me too hard. I’m tired of all the paper works and waivers. I ended up working for a large company instead. I enjoy it so far, great be benefits and work balances. I’m actually get to do engineering work and get to see my family everyday. No regrets for the decision I’ve made or not made.
Hey, I plan on becoming a Marine Pilot in the future, and if I remember seeing somewhere that I would also need to take NROTC in a college as well, I just want to ask if this is true? I also wanted to ask, it seems like I need to be a Marine for eight years before I can become a pilot, I wanted confirmation if that's right as well. I also want to know if there is a video for more specifics on becoming a helicopter pilot(Cobra/Viper, to be exact)?
Can you choose what aircraft you want to fly? Like specifically being a harrier pilot?
+Seal After Pre-Flight Indoctrination and Primary Flight Training, the top student in your flight school class picks what he wants. The rest of the top gets assigned Jets, ranging from harrier to f/a-18 and the ea6-b prowler. The middle of the class gets assigned non-jet engine aircraft such as C-130's, and the bottom of the class gets tilt-rotors and helo's. Hope that helps.
ya that's pretty bad for me my vision isn't 20 20 and I was thinking of starting enlisted then goin to officer
+fpsp “gaming” Marine
You don't absolutely need 20/20 vision. I went to OCS and then tested 20/30 in my left eye at my flight phys. No problem. Just got my wings and am at the RAG now flying the Osprey. It sounds wrong, but I promise, you do not HAVE to have 20/20 vision.
Oh, and this does NOT require a waiver either. I have no vision waivers whatsoever and my left eye is now 20/40.
To commence flight training your vision has to be 20/40 but after the restrictions are toned down.
do I have to be in the service for 8 years to be a fighter piolet in the marines
+isolated pack hunter assasin no you just have to stay in the marines for eight years after you become a pilot
Actually this video is a little wrong. You need to be at least 20/40 correctable to 20/20, which means you can wear glasses. The big thing is that you don't need to wear glasses all the time. Also you can get both PRK and Lasik. But I would recommend talking to a flight surgeon before you decide to go do that. For the height limit I have seen guys in flight school about 6'4" it all depends on the length of your torso and legs. There are height limits for jets, but I'm not sure what it is.
why would they disqualify you if you had eye surgery to correct your vision?
no.
Dear sir/ma'am. When you became a pilot. Did the world seem to be a much smaller place to you?
You have to be 8 years officer to enjoying pilot Marines
I'm in high school and I think I'm gonna do NROTC in university, I also hope to become a fighter pilot. I'd honestly fly anything, although jets would be preferred. One slight problem, I have 20/70 vision(without my glassess) or somewhere around that range, is this really gonna be a problem?
You can get corrective surgery for it and just end up with a medical waiver. The surgery just has to be done several months before you get medically screened.
DO NOT get corrective surgery before commissioning as an officer. I have been told countless times that it will automatically disqualify you. Let the military do that for you. As long as you have correctable 20/20, you’re okay. I’ve done my flight screening and that’s what they told me.
@@MonAWSOMEtv oh no I actually forgot and let go of me wanting to be a pilot in any branch. Too much work and I don't have the grades for it.
@@Scorch1manHow is it too much work? You literally just need a degree with a 3.2 or higher gpa, a good ASTB score and get thru meps?
I have 2 questions. What is the height limit because I know pilots have a height recommendation? Does wearing glasses disqualify a person from joining this mos?
Height and weight requirements to enlist in the Marine Corps are different for each recruit. While certain Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) will have more stringent vision requirements, waivers are generally available for those with less than perfect eyesight. A Marine Corps Recruiter or Officer Selection Officer is the best resource for information about specific health requirements. Get in touch with one here: usmarin.es/mEFRhA
I have a few questions. Can a permanent resident become an officer? Don’t you have to have a bachelors degree to become an officer? What degree would you need if so?
How do I become a officer
Do you have to go through infantry boot camp first?
You go through marine ocs which does incorporate a lot of infantry skills as well as going to TBS which again incorporates a lot of infantry leadership. It’s just the way the marine corps is
how do I join the Marine corps infantry and what are the requirements
Infantry is the central component of Marine ground forces and is critical to the success of the Marine Corps missions. Infantry Marines are trained to locate, close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver, or repel the enemy's assault by fire and close combat. The mainstay of the Ground Combat Element is the infantry. The Ground Combat Element conducts land-based and amphibious operations, including offensive, defensive, humanitarian, reconnaissance and security operations. Those who are chosen for Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) in the combat arms will become highly skilled in the art of land warfare, as they will often be the first on the scene to confront threats around the world. You can find a list of requirements to become a United States Marine here: usmarin.es/QzkB16. A Marine Corps Recruiter or Officer Selection Officer is the best person to ask about any specific questions, and he or she may be able to help you develop a plan to ensure that you meet the requirements. I just came back from the eye doctor and she said I had 20/20 vision with the glasses on so does that count
Do you need a degree to become a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps??? I’m interested in going in the military and I would like to fly helicopters but I just graduated high school and I haven’t done any collage??? I know the Army doesn’t require a degree but I don’t know if any of the other branches do or don’t. If anyone knows anything could you let me know???
Do you have to get a college degree or can you enlist after highschool and work your way up?
How come one can't wear contacts while flying?
You have to see where your going. No time for your contacts slipping out of place with a mask on or them drying out.
What kinds of tests do you need to take to become an aviator
Rajith B Sadly, Alpine isn't lying. I was dq'ed at meps for this very reason.

you sign an eight year contract when you commission. you are a pilot for 8 years assuming that you pass flight school

Ok so I am getting my bachelor's degree because I knew I need to be a officer to be a pilot but do I have to be a office for 8 years or cause I proceed to become a pilot from there?
You do not need prior time as an officer or in the military before you start your path to USMC aviation training. You can actually apply for OCS during college and do what they call a PLC program. Contact an recruiter they will hook you up.
Anybody know if you can become a Marine Corps Pilot if you wear glasses/contacts?
If you have to be a marine for 8 years to be a pilot, what do you do for those first 8 years when you are not a pilot?
lol
For water
Does laser eye surgery qualify for 20/20
Daniel Giddings Lasik/PRK is not a disqualifier. While certain Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) will have more stringent vision requirements, waivers are generally available for those with less than perfect eyesight. A Marine Recruiter or Officer Selection Officer is the best person for you to talk to about your eligibility. You can request more information by submitting this form (bit.ly/PonpTp).
20/20 with contacts/glasses?
U . S . M I L I T A R Y ! ! ! ! ! ! !
What's the difference between a. Marine pilot and airforce pilot
+Veggie Militia I am super late but he should just research it. The simplest answer is that Air Force pilots launch off air bases while marine/navy pilots launch off air carriers.
Reedster They're both great branches for piloting but the marines training is more extensive.
I want to work there
Because surgery (even laser) involves trauma to the eye and it's components. Flying is dangerous enough without the added stresses on the eye muscles
Can you become a pilot if you have glasses/contacts/eye surgery?
Some medical waivers are possible. A Marine Corps Recruiter or Officer Selection Officer is the best person for you to talk to about your eligibility and opportunities within the Marine Corps. You can request more information by submitting this form: usmarin.es/mEFRhA.
Laser eye surgery can come with downfall such as worse vision in the night or dry eyes but if you don't have those issues, you should be safe.

Wow Many minutes or secs do u have to hold ur breath
lol no brother. Your in flight school for several months. Then you begin your occupation as pilot for the rest of your, at least 8 year long, career
If you wear glasses, but with them you see 20/20, can you still be accepted?
Your vision MUST be 20/20 uncorrected...NO Contact lenses and refractive surgery is generally a disqualifier due to the stress the body undergoes.
you must be a US citizen and renounce citizenship of other countries.
Everyday I wish I didn’t shoot myself, just want to be apart of the military ever since a child🤦🏽♂️

😂😂😂😂 your not even a Marine if your Aviation 😂😂😂
One team one fight until you go to the Veterans Hospital and tell them your Aviation. 😂😂😂😂 GTFO. Fair warning. Everyone knows avation Marines aren't real Marines.
Nah fuck that
you can get corrective eye surgery if you don't have 20/20 vision. Just get a medical waver once the operation is complete.
ask about halo effects on night time vision and if they are likely to follow on from the particular form of eye surgery you are considering first, and if so, ask if you will be considered for pilot training if your night vision is marred by halo effects.
Mr. House Huh, not really, if I can recall correctly. To enter the training, you can have 20/40. But it must be correctable to 20/20( with glasses or contact) during training. And LASIK is accepted since 2009 ( with restrictions) by NAVY/MC for aviators. They do change the rules from time to time.
Also, uncorrected vision generally refers to naked eyesight, without glasses or contact. Even after LASIK, it will still be called uncorrected vision if the subject is not wearing glasses.
so if I had good glasses/contacts on at all times I could become the Viper Pilot I want to be?
@Mr. House nope.
i'm 20/25 after surgery, am i disqualified? i feel as if recruiters aren't 100% honest with me. -- prior enlisted too
