Cool thing about Carlson is all of his shit sounds great regardless of what tempo you play it back. This sounds like a lo-freq Slayer if you double-time it.
When I was trying to cover this, I realized it's not tuned within the chromatic scale, or not tuned to one of the 12 standard notes. That one Patreon guy Does It Doom? doing a cover of this, and other tab sites, have their guitars tuned to drop A, which sounds wrong, especially when I used a DAW to pre-cover it. It's actually a bit sharper than A but flatter than A#/Bb, exactly 50 cents above A. It's actually tuned to a half-note, like what KGLW uses on their frets (figured this out using a DAW). So in Hz, the guitar is not tuned to A1 or A#/Bb(1), but rather, A1 * 12^(1/24) = 55 * 12^(1/24) ~= 56.61 Hz. The whole album is like this too, which makes you wonder if they intentionally pitched-down the whole album to a half note, or if they actually played at that pitch (it's hard to tell through the low frequencies).
I appreciate this comment, I was trying to play along to this and got really confused about why it sounded so terribly wrong when I did Drop A like everyone else did, so I just had to tune along to it as I played, but this actually gives me a solid tuning
On a serious note, if we are talking mid-frequencies, that note in Hz would be exactly 440 * 12^(1/24) = 452.89 Hz, since the whole album is tuned to a half-note (between A and A#/Bb). The guitar is specifically tuned to A1 * 12^(1/24) = 55 * 12^(1/24) ~= 56.61 Hz. I merely point these out to demystify covering these songs on a guitar.
I don't think that they a joke to Sub Pop.... I'm pretty sure that I have music released from Sub Pop (their name and logo on)... But anyway I'm a fellow fan of Earth.. I've been trying to get a different song.... I'm not sure if the first second or third.... but even though this song is perfect.... I'm going to roll the dice and see if I can get it on my phone
Wow this fucking sucks dawg
uganda knuckle
I love how Earth were a joke to Sub Pop, but now look, massive cult hit, pioneers of a genre.
Melts the skull everytime,
Vibrates the mind,
This song is perfect.
Dylan Carlson, one-of-a-kind guitar genius....Happy 54th birthday!
This must be played at my funeral...

Where the voice
If you tune your speakers to a certain frequency you can hear him singing. The song is tuned in a really funky manner
Elevator music for metal nerds. Boring.
