Ditto! The dynamic duo of Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt got my bum on a cinema seat for first time in about a decade. I saw it last week in Sydney, and loved it!
I am always in awe of Ryan's acting. His character, Luke Glanton in a Place Beyond The Pines, was electric. He was so good in that movie that once his scenes in the movie end, the movie just drops off. And he was acting with really good actors. ❤❤❤ Same with the otebook. When I rewatch the movie, I watch the story of young Noah. The boat dock and fight scene are just, wow. Big fan! Ryan is really a great actor. Top tier in the history of Hollywood greats.
Agreed! I found Gosling's Luke Glanton in The Place Beyond The Pines very compelling (and that character's styling cemented him in my mind as the ideal Ken for the Barbie movie). On first viewing, I was really taken aback when Gosling character crossed paths with Bradley Cooper's and I was tempted to stop watching. But Gosling's gifts as an actor really propelled the presence of the ghost of Glanton through the rest of the film. I very much share your feelings towards the story of Noah in the Notebook - although the gorgeous Rachel McAdams steals many scenes with her classic beauty and kinetic energy, I don't really care as much about the arc of her character. I also feel strongly about the fate of each of Gosling's characters in Blue Valentine, Half Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl, La La Land, and even Blade Runner 2049.
I love how Ryan Gosling is wearing a t-shirt in this to subversively promote a children's book written by his life partner, Eva Mendes. Good on him!
