Rex Ryan D helped Gregg on DL as he was a former wrestler but John Blake was a good recruiter but not a good head coach he didn't have a good strength and conditioning coach either. In 1995 Schnellenberger had Garrick McGee as QB from 1994 but Chris Redman who verballed to Oklahoma stayed and signed with Louisville. The late Dick Winder OC came to Ou in 1996 from Texas Tech after Gary Nord in 1995 and Watson Brown in 1993-94 seasons Blake tried to run wishbone with Brandon Daniels with Joe Dickinson as OC and John Blake's best man at his wedding. Denver Johnson OL coach in 1996 wasn't retained also Schnellenberger being a drunk didn't help out with his make Oklahoma stadium a snake pit speech. Gary Gibbs last year in 1994:was 6-6 under Garrick McGee QB losing Copper Bowl to BYU as Terrence Brown was moved to QB. QB play in the 90s was bad until Heuple came in under Leach 1999 season as Cale Gundy was only good QB at Ou in the early 90s. Gibbs always had good defenses but strength and conditioning were lacking and probation after Switzer left after 1988 season loss to Clemson in Citrus Bowl and Charles Thompson fiasco among other problems within. If John Blake would have been hired in 1995 would it be different I say hard to say because Schnellenberger was brought in instead tied Texas 24-24 but lost to OSU 12-00, Kansas 38-17, Nebraska 37-00, Colorado 38-17, KSU 49-10 as Ou had no offense.
He’s ok really physical and fast but he was never gonna start for us. He’s behind jacobe Johnson and makari vickers at the moment. Now Eli Bowen and Dez Malone will be here for two and three seasons.
He has been mentioned little. He is in the mix as a solid back up and thumper at 240lbs. but not separating from other talent that seems to be more instinctual and faster.
I also heard Gabe say on the OK Breakdown podcast that Burks is what it would look like if Clayton and Sterling Shepard had a baby. As one who believes in science, we know two men cannot have a baby, but that's quite the compliment to give a wideout.
I don’t think see we did get a few in the portal one from Washington whose line won best line last year and he did play. 3 more from North Texas, Michigan and USC. Also we have 3 year players like Jake Taylor who has been in the system for a while and just needs his turn! Trust in BB he’s the best in the business.
OL is way more complex in the way it functions compared to DL. Nobody should expect the OL to hold up to a talented DL at this point. If so then the DL would be suspect.
Great point!! I'll become more optimistic about OUr Dline if we're hearing hype towards the end of fall camp heading into the season. At this point if the Dline isn't dominating they're likely not very good.
Not even Nick Saban could fix the poor ball snaps that plagued Bama all season. At this stage, I think the answers at all O-Line positions are on the roster and not in the upcoming portal. OU has a plethora of talent on offense at every single position.. OU simply needs to take the Jim Harbaugh approach and make a commitment to running the football. Don't panic and quit overhyping playing in the SEC. There is no value in creating an inferiority complex in your program. Its about the team and a commitment to what you believe in. With that said LET THE BIG BOYS OUT. ua-cam.com/video/_z6Kt8ohYGU/v-deo.html
I think it's natural to just be critical of your relative weakest link or where you have the most unknowns, and right now it's the OL. Sure, it could be the strength of the team, just how last year many people questioned the receiving core and thought were all set in the running game, and it turned out to be the opposite. I think we have the guys we need, but depth is so critical. It's not unheard of to have 3-4 guys out injured at some point in the season at any one position group.
Dominated an offensive line that’s struggling? Going up against the second team center and he’s nowhere close to being ready. No doubt JJ is tearing it up but it’s not like he’s killing it against a solid offensive line…per your reporting. Just saying we may not want to overstate his production when he isn’t going up against an SEC type starting center. I know he’s not lining up directly over center every time but we are still talking about a young and inexperienced group regardless of where he is lining up. Just saying we may want to temper expectations because reports like these is exactly what gets people in trouble when we get the season and the production in the fall doesn’t match proud reporting in the spring. Again, not saying JJ isn’t that guy I’m just saying let’s keep things in context here. Regardless of what a source may have told you guys you know how the typical fan will react. The right OT position I’m hearing is really having problems. If taylor was playing like we thought he would out of high school we would be hearing his name slot and we haven’t heard it mentioned once until BD came up with something out of the air again. Other reports don’t have him playing well. Sounds like Tarquin is actually playing well to figure so Sexton could always move to the right side or he needs to get on it and make sure he keeps that spot because it sounds like Tarquin is playing the best out of the tackles right now. That’s definitely not good news. Maybe Tarquin had a strange year last year but he sure wasnt coming in with a lot of expectations thrown his way.
Never leave Kelly Gregg off any list when talking about great DT talk!!
He was a great player. And he is one hell of a nice guy. Too bad he had to play for the 2 worst head coaches OU has ever had.
Big facts!
Hmm personally I thought Martin Chase was better but they were both great

@@chestercarter6081 yes, Chase was definitely a player!
It was Sterling Shepherd and Mark Clayton
With all the noise I heard about Josiah Wagner, before his Freshman year, I expected to have heard more about him in the spring.
He’s ok really physical and fast but he was never gonna start for us. He’s behind jacobe Johnson and makari vickers at the moment. Now Eli Bowen and Dez Malone will be here for two and three seasons.
What's going on with Kobie McKinsey? Haven't heard anything from any channel on where he is with playing time? He seemed like a great Linebacker
Strange isn't it? 🤔
He has been mentioned little. He is in the mix as a solid back up and thumper at 240lbs. but not separating from other talent that seems to be more instinctual and faster.
Go listen to Teddy and Gabe. Especially Teddy talking about Kobie.
It was Mark Clayton not Saunders that Gabe compared Burks to.
Damn....that type of comparison, Burks gotta be nasty!
I also heard Gabe say on the OK Breakdown podcast that Burks is what it would look like if Clayton and Sterling Shepard had a baby. As one who believes in science, we know two men cannot have a baby, but that's quite the compliment to give a wideout.
@phillips3994 yep, that's what I was eluding to. B💥💥MER
Clayton was a monster. Burks could be huge addition this season to stacked WR room.
Our OL is very concerning to me, we definitely need to pick up some OL during the next portal opening imo, great video guys!

LeRoy Selmon was the best football player I've ever seen.... And I am close to 80. I just wish you guys had been around then. BOOMER
Eli and Peyton shut him down pass wise when they played. I wish we can gotten that whole defensive backfield
Brandon on here looking like Fred Durst
I wonder who they will be playing for next season?
Its spring football.. everyone relax... daamn
sounds like what Barry said about Marcus DuPree
What did the King say about DuPree?
Sounds like between Hawkins and Arnold there isn't much separation from what I keep hearing.
Mark Clayton and Shepard.
Sean Taylor was #36
Mark Clayton and shepherd
I'm screaming Mark Clayton
I just hope Sharp is half as good as Andrew's 😊😊😊😊
Mark Claytom and Sterling Shephard
I guess stone not doing that good.
Imagine manscaping and an earthquake occurs

He said if shepherd and Clayton had a baby it would be Deion Burks
8:18 imagine calling a kid who started at IMG academy “super raw”.
He is raw. Just because you start at a good high school doesn’t mean he’s ready to go.
