They aren’t that great when they play against elite qbs they get diced up but look good when they beat up on bad qbs it’s happened for a long time now
Honestly i still have confidence in our defense but i do wish we promoted brian flores over teryl austin.. always been a fan of his defense since i saw him lock up lamar with miami
Now hes turned around minnesota defense with less talent than us
I think the injuries (and suspensions) are taking their tol right now and Patrick Queen unfortunately not really being as good as we hoped right now. Defense will be ok though once we get some people back and hopefully Queen steps up there's still time

We have to realize we’re going Against other professionals as well i keep hearing we have the “highest paid defense” we literally just went against the “highest paid” QB & WR duo they have to get theirs too ! To think the defense just gonna dominate other players that also gets paid is crazy lol… 3 turnovers & blocked fg was more than enough and they scored 20 pts on literally the FINAL PLAY
Thats true. The defense is still elite, but more it will get harder down the stretch of the season. Thats where the real test starts

At this point I’m starting to really blame the coaches. We know the talent that we have out there, it’s been seen in the past. I think it’s a mix of bad play calling, poor preparation, and bad scheme. Watt drops into coverage way too much, you have the best pass-rusher and you are dropping him into coverage regularly. Our zone defense has been picked apart for years and there is no reason that you should be relying on an undrafted rookie who was getting picked apart all game. Beanie Bishop looks like he can be a baller, but he’s still a rookie and they put too much faith in him. All game the cowboys marched right down the field and we only got bailed out by turnovers and blocked kicks, yet no adjustment seemed to be made. 4th and goal and you got DBs sitting 4 yards into the end zone, there was no reason for them to be playing that soft when it was very obviously getting picked apart all damn game. I know I’m not an NFL coach but it was clear as day, the cowboys threw all over the defense and when it really mattered, they played soft coverage and just handed them an easy TD.
I love the players, but honestly, with how much money is invested on that side of the ball their play has been inexcusable. Not sure if it's communication issues or poor coaching, but they are being gouged by teams with offenses that are just NOT that very good. Indianapolis and Dallas do not have very good offenses to begin with, and they were riddled with injuries when they played the Steelers, yet still gouged them.
Dallas is a top 12 offense dak is a top 6 qb in this league
The defense is not bad. Its what Tomlin is asking them to do that is the problem. Sending the DLs constantly creates gaps. We don't have ILBs that are Dick Butkus types to stop the run. Our ILBs are built for sideline to sideline. Its why we keep getting gashed.
The Raiders game I'm sure will be a lot closer than it needs to be. Adams torched the Steelers last season but he's out.
Put Roberson in to rush the pass. We make way too many excuses at times for poor product
Beenie Wells! Dak was looking for him the ENTIRE game! Watch the tape & you'll see Beenie getting cooked time & time again! Minkah doesn't trust him & it's throwing the entire secondary out of wack! 😔
At the same time though we can’t hold everybody under 20 every game in 2024 it’s not sustainable and teams will have their day. 3 turnovers forced and a blocked punt and u only put up 17 more offenses fault
I think the defense is solid but not elite. They give up way too many yards and 3 and longs for me to consider elite. Look at Dallas 3rd down success. Bet people want to blame JF for that too😂

Injuries are the real killer. Highsmith is all pro talent. Herbig pro bowl talent warren pro bowl talent cordelle hof talent and daniest was ranked a top 3 OG thru 3 games. Not to mention fautanu brodrick is a bust and mcormick is a rookie. We gunna keep losing with this team. With all these injuries we might be 5 win team max without those injuries we are a borderline contender. Highsmith gets paid 100 mil for a damn reason.

Not really. Its about scheme. He led the teams in tackles as a free saftey that game. Also he led them in tackles the year before last. Injuries, scheme, and matchup dictates the impact a player has. A guy like Xavier mckinney is an all pro right now for having 5 ints in 5 games. He’s first team all pro right now and there’s no ques about it. He’s a new addition and in a different scheme that other teams aren’t used to seeing him in.
Remember when minkah first got to Pitt, he was the best safety in the game. Minkah now has been here 5 seasons and the he isn’t new anymore and teams respect enough not to try him.
Well he needs to come up with some big play or it's because he's getting paid too much not too
