Sadly, I think ultimately the answer to rising dev costs is going to be a heavy reliance on A.I. to reduce head count for studios. From what Im hearing, a big contributing factor to the cost of game development is the rising salaries of developers. Also, with the crackdown on crunch, it means dev times take longer, which increases dev costs. A.I. would probably lead to certain tasks getting accomplished in a faster amount of time that might lead to shorter dev cycles.

Even with the launcher I don’t see them going day and date for single player games.
This launcher is more of an initiative for their multiplier GaaS games.
With Helldivers kicker tht off in a very successful way, and condor coming soon and marathon sometime next year, I feel this ps overlay and trophy support is meant for those games. Especially if cross progression is in the future too.
It doesn’t make sense to me to release so games day and date though, and they’ve said as much too. They said they don’t trade a PS gamer for a PC gamer, I don’t see them doing that when they have a prime example in Xbox of what happens when you do make tug trade.
I think Sony is trying to get the best of both worlds rather than diving into the deep end with PC like MS did.
It makes sense for MS to do that since they are interested in being a publisher rather than a platform holder, while to Sony the console still holds sway and is important to them.
Without the console there is no Sony, they literally cannot afford to lose that.
I fully agreed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth doesn't need Xbox and Xbox can't help since it not available on Xbox console. it's need help from Playstation, with a sale figure of less than 3m copies sold on a player based of 55m PS5. Please buy this game.
Im soo happy Sony is getting serious about PC. Also, Nixxes is killing it out here with Quality ports.

@@ktrotter I’m soo glad Sony thinks otherwise. Obviously PlayStation on PC is benefiting bc we’re seeing Sony invest and get serious about it. More gamers get to play those PlayStation bangers, this is a good thing
@@Kapono5150 I think they see that as the reasoning.. to spread awareness. But monetarily, it's a waste.. they don't sell much in comparison and they currently battle with piracy as well. A PC gamer comes in different tiers. The PC master race dude/lady doesn't care about the game they just care about benchmarking and they'll likely just pirate it and be done. The actual gamer will probably buy the platforms that have games they like. Then there are the entry level PC peeps, they play the free stuff, esport and indie stuff.
And when they start chasing the ppl away that buy loads of games day 1? Losing all 3rd party cut of games mtx and sub services? These games are selling very poorly on pc right now and they are already leaving alot of money on the table through this perception that everything comes to pc eventually. You talk about its great for gamers but seem utterly clueless to the fact that pc only cannot support triple A gaming

The new president of Squares Enix wants to put games everywhere, if it wasn't for the former president of the company, you'd see FF7 remake and rebirth on PC and Xbox day and date.
Sony covered the marketing and some development costs, that outweighs what they'd make putting it on those two platforms day and date

A game being on more platforms makes it more profitable, this whole console exclusive mentality is dying because games are getting too expensive to make and companies want to maximize profits on software
@@wodensthrone5215the game is coming to pc, they are waiting on the new switch to put remake on there and it's utterly pointless putting it on xbox right now and the foreseeable future unless Phil drives a truck load of money up to them which they have already slowed down doing. Exclusives are going nowhere for a long time
@compostsmurf5519 Exclusives are dying, games cost 70+ most of them release unfinished or broken, the new President of Square Enix wants the games EVERYWHERE , he sees where the industry is heading, same reason why the new president of Sony wants to focus on putting games on PC at a more rapid rate and Mobile devices and push for live service games.
These companies want to maximize profits and don't give a fuck about your loyalty to their plastic box that you worship
@compostsmurf5519 the new president of Square Enix wants games everywhere, he can't break the contract that the old president made with Sony but if it was up to him, he would put every game on every platform, he wants to make money.
Being stuck to one console doesn't make money, exclusivity is dying, Sony and Microsoft are putting their games on other devices because of how expensive development is getting, the budgets are getting way too high with not enoug return.
