Hi George, I don't know if I'll ever make this soap, but I watched, liked and commented because I want to support you the best I can. You are so generous with sharing your recipes and all the knowledge you've accumulated over the years! Anytime someone on FB asks for info on where to learn about soap making, I always recommend your channel (and Elly's). You deserve way more subscribers!
Thank for this recipe. You make this soap seem very easy and satisfying to make. I will experiment and give you back a feedback. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I cant wait to try it. May I ask if times are drastically reduced for much smaller amounts? For example, I plan to do a test batch of one loaf.
Thanks for watching, The time is about the same, I am unsure as to how you would calculate such a small batch. You can maybe half this batch and see how you like it
George, love all your videos! you are so meticulous, and detail oriented. i've learned so much from you! i'm a little late to the party, but was wondering if you are going to be making and selling this melt and pour soap any time soon? i'd love to purchase a loaf, and didn't see any on the website. you are so inspiring! i also found you through Elly's everyday! 😀thank you for being so kind and generous, and sharing your knowledge about making all kinds of soap. it's much appreciated. ❤
George, that is a time consuming process, I had no idea it would take so much time to make the product. Good idea to make a large batch in one go. I hope you have good uptake with your new course. Off to the UK for an extended period in just over a week so no soap making for a while. I’ve started making foaming bath butter love it. Take care George.
Such an interesting and. enjoyable video George but probably won't have the courage to make this myself. Was nervous enough making my one and only batch of hot process soap even though it turned out all right. However I have placed an order for this as it looks fabulous. Your shopping website is amazing......and enticing! 🐾🦋
Thanks for watching Marion, your support is greatly appreciated. I think your bars turned out great, doing just fine. Thanks for the order. I'll be back Tuesday and have it sent out to you 🙏🙏🙏
@@DawnOrganicsThanks George, I'm happy with my bars too. Please, no rush on sending out my order, I have lots of supplies; just wanted to snag one of your melt and pours and a laundry bar in case you SOLD OUT! 🤞
i find this really interesting! thank you for sharing ❤ i thought mp bases always required synthetic substances but your recipe is just awesome without them! your recipe just sparked an idea that isn't related to your video. i have 2 batches that I need to fix. i wonder what the effect might be if I use vegetable glycerin on a rebatch...? i think maybe i'll try a small batch 😊 cheers!
Thanks Hana. Indeed I thought the same too until I tried to do it myself, and played around with different techniques. The lather and skin feel is far superior than commercial melt and pour bases. You most definitely can create a melt and pour with by melting and rebatching soap. if there are clays or micas in it, can effect the color otherwise still will make great soap 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching and commenting much gratitude. Yes indeed a crock pot will be just fine I think you may need to put on high during the glycerin dilution phase 🙏🙏🙏
Yes you may, keep a close watch on the temperature though, keep it on low, don't let it go over 100C once the Glycerine is in. If you want to add goats milk add it at the beginning of when you are stick blending and minus it from the total water, or you can just soap as normal and use goats milk powder
Hello! I liked your natural melt and pour video. Thank you so much for sharing. I did have a question about the water phase. You said 5% of raw sugar. Is that from the total weight of oils? Thank you so much.
Nice! If I only lived in Australia, I would definitely order from you. A good quality soap is so important for daily use, whether having skin issues or not. Thank you, George.
Greetings Elaine, Pretty sure you can google it. I found a couple of things for you quickly www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/shea-butter#:~:text=Unsaponifiable%20Fraction,E%20(a%20natural%20antioxidant). www.newdirections.com.au/Articles/The-Goodness-Hiding-In-Your-Vegetable-Oils-The-Unsaponifiable-Fraction 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing, George. I do have a question. Oil + lye will result in soap + glycerine. And in a way that could also be considered soap base. So I am confused with the addition of glycerine. May I ask you the reason for adding it? Thank you very much
Thanks for watching. Melt and pour are designed to be remelted, they melt down very easily. Great for people not wanting to work with lye, They can add their desired colours and fragrance and pour into a mould. There is also no curing time they are ready to use once they firm up 🙏
Do you have courses on how to create melt and pour bases? I tried one recipe from another channel but the end result would create a skin super fast and after I'd melt it it would hardened super fast and the texture never felt quite right. It does lather and feels good but the melting aspect of it is not right. I would love to purchase a recipe/tutorials from you. Thanks for sharing!
Hi there, thanks for watching and the comment. I don't offer anything like that. This video does show the full process and tutorial, should be able to replicate it and adjust the batch size to your liking. I am thinking of doin a new tier of membership, maybe I could share more in depth videos on my recipes. I haven't decided on that yet. If you like send me a message on Instagram and if I decide to do it I'll let you know so you can join
Hi George, I've never used melt and pour. How does it compare to cold process soap? Also, can you use less essential oil with it because it's already saponified?
Greetings Elaine, oh there really isn't a comparison, CP soap in my opinion is far superior. M&P is excellent for beginners or people that don't want to handle Lye. Yes generally 1% FO or EO is adequate for M&P bases. You can go up to 2% but I find 1% to be good enough, don't want it too over powering. M&P still feels great on the skin, lathers nicely. Just limited to what you can do, and of course because the high amount of Glycerin it does sweat. 🙏🙏🙏
@@DawnOrganics Thanks for the explanation George. I was going to suggest that you make a video with one of your melt and pour bases but then what would you do with it? Take care.
Thanks for watching. I don't share that information I always recommend using a lye calculator for safety reasons. It's good practice to that for any recipe you find
Hello there, thanks for watching. Melt & Pour cannot be made into liquid soap, it will begin to go hard as it cools even when diluted, or at the very least like sludge. You need to use potassium hydroxide for liquid soap. I have some videos on that too if you're interested 🙏🙏🙏
Good evening, I've made a percentage scaled down version of this recipe, but found that once molded, it developed a sweat of moisture on top of the base. Obviously this is not desirable at all. Is this normal, as I've not seen that in your video? What could cause this and how to rectify. Your input would be highly appreciated. I would have loved to include a picture, but there does not seem to be anywhere to upload it.
Greetings Gert, you haven't done anything wrong, that is the nature of Melt and Pour soap bases as glycerine is a humectant and draws moisture in from the air. I package them as soon as I take them out of the mould as you seen. Often soapers shrink wrap them when they are cut into bars to prevent moisture build up or they place them in an air tight container for storage. 🙏
@@DawnOrganics Thanks for the prompt reply. I wish to make shampoo bars and guest soaps from the base. Will these bars still draw moisture after being wrapped a certain amount of time, or will this happen while its being used, until they are finished?
If they are wrapped well, they wont. They can build up a little moisture between uses, also depends on the weather. When they are open to the air it will happen, the proper term for it is glycerine dew

George I'm so blown away by this! I had no idea melt & pour could be made so naturally! 😍
Thanks Holly, I didn't either until I tried it 🙏🙏
Thankyou so much for explaining it all in detail.. l so love the different stages of soap making. Its mesmerising 🤩
Thanks for watching. It's amazing how it all starts with oil 🙏
This looks great dawn and I love the rich colour
Thanks so much, It's really nourishing, not like your traditional M&P bases 🙏🙏🙏

Hello! I liked your natural melt and pour video. Thank you so much for sharing. I did have a question about the water phase. You said 5% of raw sugar. Is that from the total weight of oils? Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for watching. It is the percentage of the oil amount, correct. I recently reduced it to 3% to help lighten color a little 🙏🙏

Thanks a bunch h Kathy, it really is. I could never go back now, love the skin benefits and of course addicted to soap making 😂😂🙏🙏🙏
