It requires that you change your beliefs and conclude that whatever you believed was wrong if you find out that the evidence doesn't support it or shows that the belief is wrong. And that you do that no matter how well-reasoned and supported by evidence your belief seemed at the time.
Faith doesn't require that at all. It requires that you believe things despite the evidence. It requires that you believe something even when the evidence is in contradiction to the evidence. I asked a friend of mine whether if he came to learn of some incontrovertible, undeniable, no-wriggle-room, absolute proof that there was no God of any kind at all, he would still believe in God. He said Yes, he would. I was gobsmacked. "But how could you possibly continue to believe something if you know it's not true?". You guessed it - faith.
What about you Andrew - if you had absolute proof such that you knew for certain that there was no God - as surely as you know that 1 + 1 does not equal 7, and must equal 2 (in base 3 and higher) - would you still believe in a God? And if you would - how would that faith be "well-reasoned"?

The word for circle is NOT the same as sphere.

    • @moogle_k
      @moogle_k 7 місяців тому +15

Correct. There are two words in hebrew for a circle, and one of them does, in fact mean a spherical ball. Here's the two words according to the strongs' concordance.
      H1754
      Dure: a circle or ball.
Isaiah 22:18 He will surely turn and toss thee like a ball [H1754
      Dure:]
      H2329
      khoog: a circle, circuit, compass
      Isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle[H2329] of the earth"
Isaiah 40:22 uses form H2329 khoog, which means a circle, circuit, compass.
The word dure H1754 was NOT used, and it does, in fact mean a spherical ball as seen in Isiah 22:18.
In order to properly translate the old Testament to any language, one has to go back to the Hebrew words. It doesn't matter what translation came after. It doesn't matter what it said in German. It doesn't matter what Tyndale or Martin Luther said. It matters what the Hebrew said, especially in regards to the old Testament, because that's how it was delivered to man.
The absolute fact is that there did exist a Hebrew word to describe a spherical ball shape of the earth when the Bible was recorded, and that was not the word used. We don't bend the Bible to fit our understanding. We must bend our understanding to fit the Bible.
Let God be true, and every man, a liar. For wisdom in the eyes of men is foolishness to God. We should not be ashamed to look a fool to men who hold no power over our soul. We should, however, be terrified to look like a fool to God.
      1 Corinthians 3:18-19
"Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God."
      Luke 9:26
"For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels."

and its people are like grasshoppers.

I want to make a comment I arrived at from watching parable of the Vineyard years ago when he had the backslider on often before he fell back in the world. I can't recall his name. Anyway the teaching included Matthew chapter 16 and it was the light that inspired me to seek and find this provable truth. The maker of this here videos science is worldly wisdom and if he would engage in what the apostle Paul commands. "prove all things" he would easily see why the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. Space is fake and you can prove it in a myriad of ways! Repeatable observations is real science. Since the total solar eclipse is the sign of Jonah. Jesus said that sign would be the only one given from heaven in matthew chapter 16. If I'm wrong, that sign will align with mans science. Repeatable observation of the Oct. 2023 annular eclipse and April 2024 total solar eclipse had something very special in common. THE SUN HAD SPOTS. When you compare video of the eclipses from multiple locations matching up the times you will see the spots rotated with the dark bite on the face of the sun. I wrote it that way because it wasn't the moon. Those repeatable observations proves there is no parallax between the two objects. If you want to imagine the darkened area on the face of the sun was due to what science claims is the moon. You must also believe there is a 400 times distance between the moon and sun and therefore we shouldn't have seen the spots rotate in sync with the moon but they did! Therefore the lack of parallax means the model of the moon being 400 times closer to us is a lie! Rendering mans scientific wisdom, ignorance like the bible says!

@@alparkes6084 I did see your commentary and it fits right into what Harrison said, just a lot of words to make the Bible say what you want it to say because you need it to be correct. If those verses were not meant to be taken literally but poetically then why do Christians (especially JWs and creationists) use them as a basis for the scientific accuracy of the bible? Who decides which verse is literal and which is symbolic? And just as the verses in Isaiah and Job are poetic as you say, why then is the verse about "God stretching out the sky" not poetic since you say it describes the expansion of the universe? You take that one as literal. And I'm pretty sure there are verses where the Bible says God "strecthes out the heavens like a fine gauze and spreads them out like a tent in which to dwell." (It's the same verse in Isaiah 40:22. The same verse you said is poetic bout the "circle" part. So the first part is poetic but the last part about the strecthing out of the heavens is literal? I don't get it.) The ancients did not see this strecthing of the sky as a constant expansion as science now says because a gauze or a tent is not continually strecthed. A tent is strecthed from one pin to another and then anchored in place by that pin just like the firmament was described to be. The firmament was strecthed like a tent. Meaning they saw the sky like a roof of a tent firmly anchored from one end of the earth to the other.
So, I still see much more validity in what Harrison says. This whole literal/poetic debate is just a crutch because religious people need the Bible to be true so you guys find ways to eisegetically put your ideas into the Bible to make it true. And why didn't God say this part is literal and this part is poetic? Why leave it so vague and open to interpretation? These were questions that made me research and made me look objectively on the Bible. Why not just let the Bible be what it is instead of what we want it to be? Just take it at it's word.
I don't see Harrison as misleading. That was when he was a JW. Misleading is religions job not his. I've heard more truth from apostates and atheists than I ever did from a religious person because atheists don't have an agenda to bolster, they just tell you like it is. Religion has an agenda and from experience they say and do anything to fit that agenda hence why eisegesis is a thing.

@@kammy6340 Thanks for your comments Kammy. To determine whether a verse should be taken literally, symbolically, or allegorically, it is the context surrounding the verse that is determinative. But you’re right, there are still grey areas that exist even when the context is studied carefully. The “six days” of creation is a perfect example. Some Christians believe these words should be taken literally, some believe they are meant to imply ages. Both Christians and atheists are guilty of making errors in this area. The good news is that, in all cases where literalness comes into question, the doctrines are of only minor importance in the larger scheme of things. But to pick out these verses to show flaws in the writings is questionable. There must be allowances made for the differences in the original language and word meanings, the culture and sophistication of the people between the writings 3,000 years ago and the present. When these documents were written they were written for the people of that day- the Jews in Palestine in 1000BC, and only secondarily to us in the 21st century. However an uneducated person today can read about the story of Jesus Christ and understand quite clearly what the gospel message is.
If you read my reply carefully, I said I COULD use Mr. Harrison’s same logic and prove the opposite of what he was claiming. But I don’t. I do not use statements in the Bible about the physical laws and world to argue the case for Christ or the Bible message to anyone. It would be liking swiping at a gnat while stumbling off a cliff. Many atheists use these “gotcha” arguments to “prove” the Bible contains errors. They don’t need to. If they’ve read the Bible, especially the New Testament which primarily applies to us in this day, and they don’t like what they read, or believe it is erroneous, they can simply reject it and go on with their lives. I can understand why Christians try to push their faith, they believe there are dangerous consequences for those who have not heard the gospel. But to the atheists, if there is no difference in the end result, why try to convince Christians they are wrong? It doesn’t matter what people believe in the end, does it?
On a final not, I hope you understand that the Jehovah’s Witnesses are not considered to be a Christian organization. They do not adhere to the major doctrines of Christian theology and they would object if you called them Christians. Many practices they are involved are considered to be heretical.

Whenever someone tries to argue creationism my first thought is always "which one?" until the mid 20th century Japanese school children were taught creationism and scriptural literalism in harmony with science; that science agreed with the Nihon Shoki, and it was literally and scientifically true that the land was created by Izanagi and Izanami stirring the chaos with a sacred spear. Shinto literalists used the exact same arguments and pseudoscience as Christian literalists do today.

"Whenever someone tries to argue creationism my first thought is always "which one?""
Oh, so your first thought is not if creation happened naturally or supernaturally, you being so stooo-pid decided you're smart somehow by throwing that all out because you want to know which one.
"Shinto literalists used the exact same arguments and pseudoscience as Christian literalists do today."
How did you get around the first verses of the bible with God creating and giving life?
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We KNOW these laws. We have NO doubts about them. We also KNOW that the laws of nature can't come about without a Lawgiver, God.
So if you want to pretend to be smart, please give me the laugh by giving your science how creation really happened by natural means. Also, throw in how we got the laws of nature, naturally.
Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis.
God is the reason for us and all we have.

So then where did all this come from? Is the universe infinite? Like is it never ending? If not what is beyond it? Are you saying matter is eternal? You never gave an alternate view in your comment as to where things came from and how nature designed consciousness for example. Or life in general as scientifically nature does not build things from simple to extremely complex in a step wise fashion that takes millions of years. It just doesn't work that way.

    • @cuckoophendula8211
      @cuckoophendula8211 2 роки тому +1

@@MrLaughingcorpse So while I wasn't the one who originally made the comment, I can see that their point wasn't to give an alternate explanation to why things exist as the way they are, but just that there's more than just one creation story out there. They just wanted to point out that there is an extra layer to ask ourselves why we believe what we believe.
And for the sake of conversation of alternate explanations, you may benefit from familiarizing yourself with a concept known as the anthropic principle (at the very least, know it well enough so you can know how to argue against it). To begin, I'd say that the average honest atheist would agree that the chances for life to form from nothing at any time is _incredibly_ small, and the eventual development to having an organism with consciousness would be magnitudes even smaller than that. However, even if the formation of life out of nothing would have the same chances as rolling five one million side dice all landing on a 1, and the formation of consciousness would have the same chances of rolling a 1 ten more times with those same million sided dice, consciousness would still inevitably exist somewhere via survivorship bias on a cosmic scale. With the seemingly limitless scope of the universe (or even multiple universes), we have countless stars each with planets of their own that may each be rolling these dice. One in a million of habitable planets would only be able to get one die roll right, and even less would succeed in abiogenesis. From there, millions upon millions of planets that succeed in gaining abiogenesis would not get to the point of having an organism with consciousness. But a tiny tiny number out of all the countless expanse of stars would inevitably succeed in a conscious being that would ask the question of how their consciousness existed in the first place.
Now this is where I'll reveal that I consider myself a strange mix of apatheism (as far as not caring about the argument for or against the existence of a monotheistic being) and "Christian modernist," who doesn't depend on a literal interpretation of the bible in order to find truth in them (i.e. a parallel would be not having to believe that an actual tortoise and hare literally had a race in order to believe in the concept of "slow and steady wins the race"). I don't know what your main belief system is, but something that I'm aware of in every world religion is the concept of knowing how to humble ourselves to truths that we may not like. Using the Abrahamic model, it's usually a good reminder to differentiate between what we personally want truth and God's plan to be versus truths that we can't avoid and what "fear of God" means (and to the atheists passing by, the Rosetta Stone of my apatheistic worldview sees the Abrahamic God as a representation of truth itself). Otherwise, being attached to what we _want_ to be true can be associated with our pride rather than the humility we'd get from fearing God. And personally, it took awhile for me to realize that truly fearing and beholding God meant the opposite of trying to feel important. Things like the Book of Job and Ecclesiastes should remind us that we are a tiny speck compared to God, which happens to coincide very well with the vastness of the cold, scientific universe.

The man named Jesus almost certainly existed as a historical person. I think there are many verses in the bible that ahve lead to abolishing the form of slavery you faced. People used those scriptures to justify, but the bible also says to “Treat your slaves well” in Ephesians 6:9
Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them; remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favourites.”
What am I saying? Do I “support slavery?” What I’m saying was that the form of “slavery” that was permitted was not what was done in practice and isnone of the reasons why it was abolished. If you take all the verses in the old and new testament within context, what the verses your referring to talk about is when someone is poor and you want to welcome them into your household to work for you and live with you. You habe to treat them fairly, the same way you would like to be treated. They become like a member of your household. But when you think ofnslavery, you think of the kind that is cruel and clearlt goes against many things that the bible says. If you want to continue this talk in abetter platform such as email or something I can find you more scripture refrences and we xan talk about them.
Don’t get into the fallacy of because the person did not have an answer for you in thag moment that means you are always right. Always be open to allow someone to bring new information to you. Bless you

---"What did the early church really teach?
Historian Jeffrey Burton Russell (1934-) thoroughly debunked the flat earth myth over 20 years ago in his definitive study Inventing the Flat Earth.
The famous evolutionist Stephen Jay Gould (1941-2002) favourably reviewed this masterpiece:
“There never was a period of ‘flat earth darkness’ among scholars (regardless of how the public at large may have conceptualized our planet both then and now). Greek knowledge of sphericity never faded, and all major medieval scholars accepted the earth’s roundness as an established fact of cosmology.”6
Russell showed that flat-earth belief was extremely rare in the Church. The flat earth’s two main proponents were obscure figures named Lactantius (c. 240 - c. 320) and Cosmas Indicopleustes (6th century; the last name means “voyager to India”). However, they were hugely outweighed by tens of thousands of Christian theologians, poets, artists, scientists, and rulers who unambiguously affirmed that the earth was round. Russell documents accounts supporting earth’s sphericity from numerous medieval church scholars such as friar Roger Bacon (1220-1292), inventor of spectacles; leading medieval scientists such as John Buridan (1301-1358) and Nicholas Oresme (1320-1382); the monk John of Sacrobosco (c. 1195-c. 1256) who wrote Treatise on the Sphere, and many more."
---"The much-parroted flat-earth myth about him comes not from history but from the tales of Washington Irving (1783-1859), The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus (1828). Irving was probably America’s first genuine best-selling writer, but he admitted that he was “apt to indulge in the imagination.” Flat-earth belief was certainly a figment of his imagination."
---"It was bad enough that this myth entered the public perception thanks to Irving’s wide readership. But it became worse when it acquired the veneer of scholarship, so it could be used as a club with which to bash Christianity. The main propagandists for this cause were the notorious 19th century anti-Christian bigots John William Draper (1811-1882) and Andrew Dickson White (1832-1918). Draper, a fine chemist and photographer-first president of the American Chemical Society-but a lousy historian, wrote History of the Conflict between Religion and Science (1874) as a poorly informed polemic against the Church. White was a disgruntled ex-Episcopalian and the founder of Cornell University as the first explicitly secular university in the United States. He also published the two-volume work History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom (1896).
"Both authors relied heavily on the work of Cosmas, portraying his flat-earth teaching as typical rather than the almost forgotten, extreme minority view that it was. And they are the ones most responsible for the discredited ‘conflict thesis’ between Christianity and science, instead of the real history that the Christian world-view was responsible for science in the first place, while it was still-born in other places like ancient Greece and China."
"Colin Archibald Russell (1928-2013), Emeritus Professor of History of Science and Technology at the Open University, writes:
“Draper takes such liberty with history, perpetuating legends as fact that he is rightly avoided today in serious historical study. The same is nearly as true of White, though his prominent apparatus of prolific footnotes may create a misleading impression of meticulous scholarship.”
Both J.B. Russell and Gould argue that Draper and White had an agenda to discredit Christians who opposed the then-new theories of Darwin as ‘flat earthers’. Nothing much has changed!

Round Earth idea was discovered in ancient Egypt. Cosmos, epic astronomy TV -series/book 1980 by atheist Carl Sagan described how scientist Eratosthenes discovered the idea from shadows at midsummer. An early travel book (scroll) in the Library of Alexandria taught him vertical poles have no shadows at midsummer in South Egypt, where it's within the tropics. But in Alexandria, in north Egypt, he could see they have shadows. Deduced round Earth to explain that.
So the idea was known in OT times: but did not stop parts of the OT saying the Earth is rooted in pillars, + the Gospels that Satan showed Jesus all the world"s kingdoms from one high mountain.

They had enough people line up to see the curve of the Earth, other than the soldiers being of different heights their spears & shields were of the same regulation length & size. Instead of using a plastic cup & kite string to make a house telephone, the Romans had a copper sheet cup and wire play testing the " phone." @@mangakatanaka3067 Nasa is an acronym (National Aeronautics and space Administration.). Judging by your ignorant statement your very uneducated.
Water seeks level as do all fluids because of earths gravity.
Your perspective regarding water bending around a ball in the bathtub is incredibly silly as the balls mass is not capable of over coming the vast gravity of the earth so instead of clinging to the gravity of the balls mass it is over powered by the massive pull from the center of the earth ( billions of times more mass then your ball ).
However if that ball were in a zero gravity field such as in space the water may in-fact cling to the ball provided no other forces are stronger then the balls mass (centrifugal force from the space craft spinning itself would be the predominant force even in the low gravity field) If the ball is hollow it may have far less mass then the water your using to marry with the ball . keep in mind that earths gravity extends far into space and has an effect on other planetary bodies, so even in space there is a multitude of gravitational forces at play with any energy or mass within its range.
fluids are capable of taking on any shape outside of gravitational force BECAUSE IT IS FLUID IT NEED NOT "BEND" BUT ARANGE ITS MOLECULAR STRUCTURE IN INFINITE WAYS WITH ITS INDIVIDUAL PARTICULATES.

When you compare video of the eclipses from multiple locations matching up the times, you will see the spots rotated with the dark bite on the face of the sun.

*Gallileo* disproved the bible author's viewpoint of *Geocentricity* in 1633, yet present day bible believers "read right over" Joshua 10:12-13, where Joshua commanded BOTH the Sun ITSELF, _and_ the Moon to stand still, NOT the Earth
-- this proves that the bible authors themselves believed that the Sun was in motion over the Earth, and that it could be magically stopped, dead in the sky, simply by one man's prayer to Yahweh !
WOW ! How supernaturally inspired !

    • @dvonzosch461
      @dvonzosch461 3 роки тому +2

@Stirgid Lanathiel The bible author's viewpoint was identical to the Sumero Babylonian cosmology, that of a Sun that traveled in motion over the Earth, and was controlled by Yahweh/Jesus in real time
      -- Job 9:7 describes Yahweh's power:
"Which commands the Sun, and it rises not"
This appears as "metaphorical" to 21st Century readers, yet was describing the literal creation, as they, and other ancient Near Eastern nations falsely believed.
-- Isaiah 38:7-8 describes a prophetic sign regarding King Hezekiah's recovery from near death, by reversing the Sun's ( not it's shadow ) movement backward by 10°
      7) " And this shall be a sign unto you from the LORD..."
      8) " Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees _backward_ . So, the Sun [ ITSELF, not it's shadow ] returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down "
This passage reveals that the bible authors believed that the Sun was an independent heavenly body, that was in real motion over the Earth, and which could be magically reversed by Yahweh/Jesus.
Amos 8:9 is a prophecy of judgement against Israel that indicates that the Sun's movement could be magically accelerated "to go down at noon":
" And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cause the Sun [ ITSELF ] to go down at noon, and I will darken the Earth in the clear day "
Had the bible authors been supernaturally inspired by an all powerful and all knowing deity, they wouldn't have written a false cosmology as parts of supposed prophecies.
To your point, Erathothenes, in 285 BCE, used the measurements of the shadows of obelisks, done at the same time, in different locations, and used a series of runners to gather the information ; subsequently, he used simple Geometry to calculate the Earth's circumference to within 200 miles.
Yet Greek scientists and philosophers never interacted with the commoners, let alone other nations, and since there was no mass communication or universal education, this concept never reached many people.
Most of the books of the Old Testament were written after the Babylonian exile, and never had the benefit of the science of the Greeks.
All the poor bible writers had was " Divine Inspiration "

There’s many layers to each verse, and much of it is separated by language barriers via translation. Very very little of the Bible is meant to be taken literally 1:1. These charlatans find a single aspect of a verse that may or may not even be true and think they’re something special, but almost every time they twist their interpretations to justify their twisted ideology. Those people aren’t Christian’s. Every ancient religious text is proof of the same God for those who have eyes to see the connections. Read your Bible first through an astrological lens, then read it through a technological lens as if it’s a child describing technology for the first time, then read it through a spiritual lens, etc. the literal lens should be the last thing you read it through, after you get what it actually is. Hint: no organized religion gets it

@@adamkurt471 yep, I do. It’s a long and complicated answer. The short(er) version of what I feel like saying right now, though, is that there’s nothing in the Bible that actually requires the “doctrine” of inerrancy (it’s a position that a lot of people take based on a certain brand of “logic,” but all the Bible actually requires is that it be divinely inspired and “useful”), and, without that doctrine, there’s no reason to assume that the older “history” can’t be at least somewhat legendary and the assumed cosmology suspect (most of the biblical references to ANE cosmology are poetic, and frequently hyperbole) while the newer history remains essentially reliable (if subject to the same minor discrepancies as any account of an ancient historical incident). Assuming a creator of the universe (and there’s no particular reason not to, regardless of what you think of ANE cosmology), there’s no reason they couldn’t have a personality and interact with some of their creations in some pretty spectacular ways (put another way, the argument that miracle stories are unreliable because miracles can’t happen starts with a baseless assumption), nor is there any particular reason to think they couldn’t accommodate those creations’ oddities a bit in their interactions while nudging towards greater enlightenment (ie, the argument that Yahweh doesn’t exist because he didn’t immediately ban slavery relies on some baseless assumptions). I find that belief or disbelief comes down to experience and assumptions, rather than anything provable by scientific experimentation.

The King James Bible that you quoted in your video, when you were referencing the "firmament", contains a marginal note in the first edition copies printed by the King's printer in 1611. It says that the Hebrew says "expansion" where the word "firmament" appears. The Geneva Bible of 1560 also contains a note stating the same. These translators from over 400 years ago don't agree that the "raqia" means something solid. William Tyndale writing 500 years ago defined the raqia simply as "sky". No mention of anything solid. And between Tyndale, KJV, and Geneva translators, we are talking about the people who are most responsible for establishing the text of the scripture in English. Maybe it would be helpful to include these sorts of notes so that the translators and their work is not misrepresented.

The Bible suggests we live in 10 dimensions. No one believes we are in 1 d...that is absurd! 4 d is absolutely provable by our basic senses and even the earliest Christians could see that. Is it your intention to mock Christians by making a fool of yourself? If so..Great job! Most theoretical physicists today expect that there are 10 dimensions. The amount of narcissistic hubris shown here is dumbfounding. The whole point of the conversation between God and Job was to allow Job to see his place and put God in His rightful place. You completely missed that! It is sad.
All these folks...teen agers twenty somethings etc "deconstructing " their "religion".
Look..religion is of man...I agree. What God reveals is of God. So you read the Bible and see flat earth. You believe the "Science" instead of the Bible? You do you. Bear in .ind science text books change every couple of years. And the things scientists say are fact often get proven to be complete fiction in 10-20 years. The Bible is consistent. It does take faith. But Biblical cosmology is infinitely more reasonable than this big bang nonsense! Entropy disproves evolution! We see entropy in our own lives day to day. Macro evolution is a joke and a pathetic one at that!
Since one has to have faith to believe God and the Bible or faith to believe scientists and "the science" I will put my faith in God.
I am a firm believer in free will and everyone making their own decisions. So is God! So you believe whatever and I will believe God and the Bible and when the day of our demise is at hand let the cards fall where they will!
Peace in your pursuit of truth!

Water always finds it's ways flat and level, you have never seen it bend to match what is underneath it with your own two natural eyes or stick to balls, but all you need to do is run a bathtub to see how enclosed flat earth cosmology works and is true.

False. It's Photoshoped because it's thousands of legitimate photos stiched together from close to the earth and the resulting compound must be tweaked in terms of lighting, coloration, visible stiches and the removal of people from the surface.
Nasa doesn't exist in hewbrew as a word at all. The term you've been decieved into conflating it with has no relationship with the modern abreviation of National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Here's the hewbrew word for deception for comparison הונאה and it looks nothing like NASA nor is pronounced as such.
Level doesn't mean flat", but I'm sure you know that. The issue is that you don't care about what's true, you only care about what you believe. Which is why you can blatantly ignore obvious evidence of the sphere shape of the earth.
You know full well the curving area is alot larger than you can see in any one go from the surface of the Earth and when you are directly shown the curvature from a point high enough with a wide enough view to see it, you deny it outright for no rational reasons. You are Not Sceptical, you have nothing but baseless incredulity and an incredibly narrow closed off mind.
Religion has turned your brain to mush and worse still, You're proud of that fact.
Level doesn't mean flat, and before you throw out the definition, this saying is in reference to your and all flat earthers missunderstanding of
      "water seeks its own level".
You simply have the wrong idea of what it means for water to seek its own level.
Water seeking its own level means that water from a single source flowing into a system with separate containers will fill up each side to the same height.
The word “level” has different uses depending on context. It can be level, like a table top, which is the way you're using it, or level can mean a relative height, as in a “higher or a lower level,” which is what this "principle" actually refers to.
Water does not seek to be “flat.” It seeks to balance between separate columns of water that have a common source.
The “level” that water seeks is thus NOT a flat plane. It is a curved surface the diameter of Earth. It only looks like a plane for short distances that you can easily see. Your limited perception from the Earth's surface doesn't allow you to ‘see’ the slight curve that it has.
Furthermore, you have no idea what so ever about what you're talking about in regards to science and experimentation.
But lets pretend you do. What experiments have you done or what theoretical underpinning can you provide?
It is OK if you haven’t done any grand experiments and rely simply on your own observations. In all of your observations, you have seen that water does something and it does it consistently and you call that “seeking level.”
However, I'm very sure you have never done an experiment that distinguishes between these two* rules:
      1) Water always seeks its own level, and that level is necessarily planar.**
      2) Water always seeks its own level, and that level is necessarily perpendicular at each point on the surface of the water to a vector from the water to the center of gravity of the Earth.***
You know for certain the first part - and most everyone who has considered the issue will agree with you. Water does seek its own level, or in more pedestrian terms, water flows downhill if it can.
The problem is with your intuitive definition of “level”.
Undisturbed water is in *hydrostatic equilibrium.*
If its surface is open and under the same atmospheric pressure everywhere*, the surface will be perpendicular to its local gravity field in every point.

A randomly chosen Mesopotamian 2500 years ago might have said that he lived under a dome. Almost anything is possible, and there were probably flat-Earthers even then. However, I doubt that he would have said that he lived under a dome-shaped 'firmament' since that was not a word or concept which had been coined back then. The word he might have used if he was a Hebrew, 'raqiya' is commonly translated as expanse or sky, and with good reason. It is self-evident that we live under a sky, and ancient peoples were not as fixated upon nonsense as we are today. They tended to just say what they saw. The use of the then freshly-coined and previously undefined word 'firmament' in the KJV is based on a mistranslation in Jerome's 4th-century Latin Vulgate translation.
2:00 "He runs away as fast as he can because he's convinced that there is something seriously wrong with you". - Yes, and I would add that he is probably right. Before running, though, he might well concede the validity of many of your points, but he would probably want to know how you arrive at your precise figures. How do you know, for instance, that you can fit 1.3 million Earths inside the Sun? Upon further conversation he would probably conclude that you are just quoting from a textbook and don't have any deep insights of your own, and so no he would not be gobsmacked, and neither would he hang on your every word like you are Jesus.
3:40 "Even today, there remains a Flat Earth Society".
    - founded in 1956. Do not blame ancient peoples for that aberration.
4:00 "There is one who dwells above the circle of the Earth".
The ancient Greeks spoke of a "horizon kuklos" meaning "limiting circle". I believe that other ancient cultures had a similar concept. If you happen to live on a flat plain then the limit of what you can see forms a circle. Again it's just "say what you see". And it just so happens that even if you are many thousands of miles above the Earth, the limit of what you can see still forms a circle, which separates the near hemisphere from the far.
12:20 "The noun 'raqiya' is derived from the verb 'raqqa'".
.. which means "spread out". The sky is an expanse, meaning that it is spread out. There is no reason to suspect any solidity. There is a similar word IN SYRIAC which means solid, and which is probably the cause of the initial confusion, but actually confusing these words would be like concluding that consuming French baked goods would be an agonizing process because the French word for bread is pain.

What LIARS like the one in the video leave out is that MOST ancient Cosmologies have the EARTH circled by a SERPENT or a MULTI-HEADED serpent. So, that means if the REPRESENTATION means that the earth is LITERALLY FLAT and LITERALLY ENCASED in a DOME and the SUN and the MOON are just little LIGHTS? That means they also thought a BIG FREAKIN 7 HEADED SNAKE was WRAPPED around the DOMED EARTH. Ya, but they didn't. That 7 HEADED SERPENT represents an ORGANIZED 'ANGELIC' REBELLION or CHAOS or SPIRITUAL DARKNESS or EVIL. And just like the 7 headed serpent doesn't mean a REAL BIG SNAKE CIRCLING the EARTH? Something else that is funny is they will quote scripture from PSALMS which is expressly poetry to try to say the Bible says the earth is flat, and that it is geocentric, and that is what everyone believed when it was written but they'll conveniently overlook the passages from job (which is older, and non-poetic) that states the skies are stretched out over empty space, and that the earth hangs on nothing.

So why not prevent this confusion from ever happening? How? By he himself writing his own books. If he is also All Powerful, then the LEAST he could have done was write us his book. If he were also All Loving, then he WOULD at the very least have done that for us.
      But.... he didn't. Why?
Just think, if there were some "Omnipotent" and “Omniscient” being who was a Good/Loving god and he wanted us to know his message/plan, then the least he could have done was author the book himself. Make it his "Perfect" word of god that no mere Human could ever write or improve upon.
So magical that even the blind and illiterate need only touch it and they would know and understand what it says. It would be so magical, that it would be Impossible to "misinterpret". Because of that, everyone would completely understand it with no need to “interpret” and there would be ZERO doubt as to Exactly what it says and means. The message would get across Perfectly. Then everyone would agree as to what it said. Is that too much to ask?
We would still have the right to follow it or not follow it, but the Message would be undeniable and perfect.
But as of now, there is no such book. The bible, torah, quran, book of mormon, etc., etc. FAIL MISERABLY. A true book that was the “Perfect” word of a god would also be Perfect and because of that not need to be translated. So none of those books stand the test.
The bibles alone have at least 60 different versions in just the English Language! That is why the bibles have so many denominations ALL Claiming that only THEIR interpretation of the word is real. Think of that, even people that truly do believe and WANT it to be true cannot agree as to what it says! Back in 2012, there were over 40,000+ denominations all disagreeing about what the current bibles say. So if the ‘god’ of the bibles “Inspired” the bibles to be Perfect, it has Failed Miserably.
Something is either Perfect, or it isn't. There is no in between. None of those books are Perfect. Improving upon those books is child’s play.

@@mikemental8285 -- First, if there truly were a being that were "Perfect" in every way, we wouldn't exist.
Second, what you said makes no sense. Seriously, be honest... take a step back and think about what you just said.
Third, I ask you = why didn't that god write his own books?
Last but not least, do yourself a huge favor. Read whatever book you claim is the "perfect" word of god. Read it with an Open Mind. You will discover all the Errors, Contradictions, and EVIL done by and commanded by that 'god'. Reading those books is what made me an Atheist. Ironically enough, when I read the bibles, I did that to connect more to our Claimed "Lord and Savior". Most who read those books with an Open Mind, are freed from the lies.
I see religious people as Victims of all the Lies we were all told. Honestly, here's to hoping you Escape the lies. Happy Holidays.
