    DPF And Its Regeneration
Lets your SUV dominate the terrains while going easy on the environment!
The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is a crucial part of your authentic SUV.
It does the job of capturing and storing harmful Particulate Matter (PM) from the exhaust.
Not just that, when your SUV is at moderate to top speed, it causes the engine to heat up; which in turn burns the trapped harmful particulate matter, turning it into mere carbon dioxide and water.
This process of transforming harmful particles into simple substances is known as regeneration.
During this process, a very minor amount of particulate matter is left back in the exhaust which prevents your SUV from leaving behind a trail of pollution.
It is necessary that your vehicle moves at a moderate speed so the engine heats up, thus burning the stored particulate matter.
However, when the vehicle is moving slowly in bumper-to-bumper traffic, is carrying heavy loads or is moving slowly on slopes, the engine hasn’t had the chance to heat up. In such situations, the chances of regeneration are very low.
In such cases, the particulate matter begins to accumulate and the DPF starts to choke.
And that’s exactly when your Mahindra SUV detects it and gives you an early indication through 3 warning lamps: DPF, REGEN and OBD.

Be sure to keep an eye out for this indication as it may cause a drop in your SUV’s engine performance.
If ignored, the engine would suffer clogging. In some cases, missing out on this indication would result in difficulty in turning on the engine as well.
So how can you keep your Mahindra from experiencing this issue?
    It’s easy!
Park Regeneration is your go-to method in such situations. All you have to do is have your vehicle parked in its den while leaving your engine roaring on to the rescue.
While doing so, make sure to gear in on neutral and keep the handbrake engaged, leaving the vehicle to automatically control the engine speed for a while to unclog the DPF.
And that’s it, you are now set to dominate every terrain while having your Mahindra SUV go super easy on the environment.
