That was great. I never connected the fact that the different chord shapes play different chords up and down the neck. I’ve learned triads but this was helpful. Thanks mike
Personally, I like doing some finger exercises suggested by Kiko Loureiro and then a bit of arpeggios in a key I am not familiar with following a I-V-VI-IV-IVm progression. 🥰
Thank You sir! I not only got some ideas, but I think I learned new shapes. That G-shaped C and F chords I saw many times played around, but never really connected with G-shape. Now everything makes more sense and is actually quite easy to understand. I'm very glad I watched this one. There was also one of yours "kind of spider" exercise recommendation, after which I got more agility in my fingers. Never took opportunity to thank You for that one too, so Thanks a lot!
Hi Mike, I'm a rank beginner, I just purchased a Fender Ultra Luxe because it was so painful to play the Martin D28 modern deluxe I bought two years ago, I think the strings have moved up because playing it or trying to play it is agony. I also have a Cort X700 duality which seems like a nice guitar. The problem is I totally suck and I struggle trying to learn. Anyway I'll keep hammering away but I pray some of your lessons will stick. One question, how can I get my hair to grow like yours? My keeps running away! I'm going to practice those chords you showed us, I've not moved down on the neck much and I've found bar chords next to impossible. I see you're able to transition from chord to chord like clockwork and that in itself is so difficult. How long did it take you to become proficient? I wonder if I'll ever get proficient. Practice time? I have hours of free time to learn to play but I need direction, you know, no life, no wife, ahh, maybe you don't know, you've probably got both. Anyway, away I go, maybe if I spend $10,000 on a PRS I'll get totally motivated. 😊
Just keep playing buddy, try not to practise making the same mistakes, take it slow and concentrate on getting it sounding good. Haha the infamous hair. If you’re growing it out you just have to fight it out through that awkward mild length stage.
@@MikeBradleyofficial Thanks Mike, I haven't given up, I'll get there eventually, the hair, it's hopelessly almost gone, lost most of it at 23, now that was a crapper.
Thanks for the feedback. I do use a mic. I recently have just moved to a new house and my room here hasn’t been finished yet so still very sparse in here which is making it echo. Will have it sorted soon.
This is what I do ..........ive got a pack of guitar chord playing cards from the 90s, I pull out 3 at random, fire up my cassette recorder yes CASSETTE recorder!! And play anything based on those 3 chords....then jam over the top....
if someone says they only have 5 minutes to practice they aren't serious about guitar. It means they are prioritizing Netflix or the Mandalorian over guitar. No one spends every waking minute of the day rushing from one important task to another. And if you do it means you're serious about those things and not the guitar.
@@MikeBradleyofficial Actually you can use either spelling as my dictionary says: Practise: to perform (an activity) repeatedly so as to become proficient in it. just sayin'.
These are great ideas. Moving two chords across the neck using the caged system is gold.
Cheers buddy, great to hear it’s helped.
More please… Thank you!
Very cool 5 minute exercise. I’m going to try to incorporate this into my downtime moments. Thanks bro.
Great to hear, let me know how you get on.
This is dead helpful. Cheers Mike! I'd love to see some more of these cos I'm always getting stuck in a bit of a rut with practice stuff.
I would definitely welcome more of these practice videos. Thank you.

Excellent maestro

Yes of course it is! Thank you for the kind words.

DOH!!! 🤦🏻♂️
Love your videos man!
Please get a mic to boost the low end so that your voice sounds better

Boy cant even spell practice and you’re trying to learn guitar from him?
Yep a boo boo there. But hopefully what the Boy created is worth more than a little spelling error.
Forreal Jacob?

Mann go to school. practice/practise, realize/realise, color/colour. there are different ways to spell the same word in english
Way too difficult you don’t help
Any good musician takes any inspiration and lessons from wherever they can get it, easy or hard.
Cope
learn the caged system, there are free tutorials here. That thing enlightens you
Depends where you’re at as a player. If you haven’t long picked up the guitar then yes, this will be hard.
How do you train your ears??...What's a good daily routine .Sincerely..Poppie*...
I have done a video talking about that, but maybe it’s time for an updated version
