Yeah, the League community dwarfs the FGC community so much it's about to make the popular fighting games look dead in comparison the same way League is to DOTA. In fact, they're already preparing for its release a year in advance with Capcom randomly increasing their prize pool to $2M and Harada randomly talking about how they will incorporate team mechanics after he was specifically asked about the evolution of 1v1 fighters.

I'd like to add that they had Jinx fully playable 4 years ago as well, and just haven't shown her. There's plenty of others like this as well. Plus they only started developing in earnest in 2019, so 5 years.
Should check out some vids where the players actually know what they're doing. Majin Obama has a vid where he's playing against some devs, and it honestly looks pretty fun. I think any fighting game looks pretty sluggish when it's players testing it out for the first time, but hey maybe it won't change your mind and just not something for you.
