Assetto Corsa was what happens when a small team make something with passion and let the players run wild. Assetto Corsa Evo is what happens when that same studio went full corpo.

i agree - but i think the whole gaming industry is at a point where if you want a certain level of quality you need to do some questionable things.
Wouldn't surprise me if the early access was due to the need of more funds for development

There was an interview with the CEO and he said mods are coming and they planning an "offical mod content" and paying the modders aswell to recognize the good modders
I feel as if modding will be like BeamNG's where there's a mod browser which would be the approved mods and then you can just download mods as you do like "non approved" mods
Except the developers said it will be a marketplace, so they will likely cost money, unlike the vast majority of the old mods.
It also sounds like they're thinking of removing the offline mode by the time of launch so as to keep control over it. Which means, kind of like Forza, an unapproved mod may get you banned.
@@tenpoundburrito most good ac mods do cost money (either through patreon or whatever platform). So them implementing a marketplace isn't such a bad thing.

@@thelordofgamingyt is that supposed to be a bad thing? I mean by you putting mods in quotations, i suppose the mods are shite. I wouldn't compare flight sim mods to racing game mods, especially when it comes to asseto. There is so only so much you can mod on flight sim, so they won't be as good.
@@hekii1 Most good mods do not cost money. The majority of the free ones work and look great, which is what drew me to Assetto Corsa in the first place. In fact, if someone is modelling a real life car without permission from the manufacturer and selling it for money, that could even be considered violating copyright laws.

If the always online thing makes it so that we can't put whatever mods we like in the game, then Evo will be more dead than TDUSC. Why buy the new game when the old one runs better and looks better? The devs REALLY need to answer this question solidly or else their years of hard work are gonna go down the toilet. There are currently 10-11 times as many people playing a decade old racing game than the sequel 2 weeks in. I want Evo to succeed, but the devs are tripping over themselves for some reason
As an owner of both. Evo looks better. Even when using mods in ac1. It dosent run well currently but its early access things Will become a lot better in the coming weeks and months.
I doubt it will be dead. It will just grow as time goes on. Specially when open world element is added.
Tdu was just a big failure pontential was never there to begin with. Ac evo is built on a good foundation. The game is not even yet seen its full pontential yet. But it will.
At version 0.1.4 we are not even close to see what the full version will be like. We are still only on the very early stages.
The problem with mods is that they legally need to control them to allow for them in multiplayer, many AC mods are straight out ripped models from gran turismo and forza which is very very illegal so they need to avoid that. They explained it in an interview pre launch of the game

2:02 not even in original AC I felt the car so alive.
It does feel alive, like you said, it feels like the car is actually connected to the ground, you can feel the weight of the car better than any other sim I tried (AC comprehended).
Going to buy it as soon as online drops, in the meantime I'm having fun with TXR.
You might not be buying it then. The developers are making it sound like the goal may be to have it all online by the official launch.
At least the developers of Test Drive and The Crew announced they are doing the opposite and releasingban offline patch later in their games' development cycles.

I completely agree that the driving feel is really good I haven't experienced another game that feels as good
There is car stall here not a big feature but i guess it will be in the challenges, like a uphill start in a manual car without assist and handbrake, the car will also start if you hold the clutch and make it move downhill then release the clutch at 20kph a subtle feature but hey its something
You're right in the fact it doesn't _need_ to be online-only, but to better moderate their future "official mod support" it seems a no-brainer. Not ideal, but it's a two-way street. We get the game, they get to manage it how best suits their business.
Edit: 0.1.5 just went live and the active player base just went to 4k online players. Only ganna go up when all us in America get off work 😂
To be fair, releasing online, more cars and the license is going to bring a LOT of players back including my self. Following the discord a lot of people like me are waiting for something to actually do. Driving the MX5 and S1k is only so fun for so long on the same 3 tracks

AC has this weirdly unique magic that keeps pulling me back. I hope ACE can find that magic too.
Like every time I think I’m getting bored, the community is doing something new or my weirdest ideas can be made reality. Street racing in Japan: check. Endlessly lapping the Nürburgring, check. Spec trackdays: check. I could go on, atm I’m on a vintage F1 kick with matching tracks. Oh check there too. So if and when ACE can give me that I’ll be so happy, but I worry like you mentioned the companies will have more control than the community.

For all the things, Theo talks about it makes you wonder why they even dropped the game in the first place
It’s still good in many ways, even though it’s very barebones. The physics are good, the suspension geometry and simulation is much better, it’s not bouncy like in ACC. Tiremodel needs a lot of work, but it’s fine for now. The tires have a littlebit too much grip sometimes, for example when drifting, it kinda catches grip suddenly mid drift. it’s really easy to correct the oversteers. graphics needs a lot of work, lighting especially, the game looks a bit bland and washed out sometimes, but they have time to improve that too. Sounds are okay, some cars sound good like the S2000, but some cars are okay, but still better than in ACC.
I hope they will resolve the server issues and get the game running online soon. Can’t wait for the multiplayer. They also made already the game run a lot better so in multiplayer it wouldn’t be that bad.
I will say i’m impressed even thought it’s what it is right now. I’ve enjoyed it. It has a lot of potential and i believe in Kunos that they will deliver. 🙏🏻

They announced all the big stuff to come in 3rd quarter of the year...? Wouldnt surprise me that 1.0 update will also see a price rise and everyone or most people have just bought it in anticipation for the massive update and potentially avoiding paying more for the game

Well I am not buying this game until after the end of the year when it is completed and I see what the full release of the EVO game will be like. Also, I will wait till there is a good sale price on the game after that date from STEAM. If I don't get the game for another 2 years, I could care less. I am in no hurry for this game. I have plenty of the other games to keep me entertained.

Not really. Some basic stuff is offline. Other things will be tied to online. People are making so many assumptions on how it’s all going to work

Original AC launched as a Time Attack game. ACE is basically the same, if you buy it early its basically a Time Attack game. I do my own Time Attacks in just about every game, and it becomes even more fun if you can tune the cars. There is no reason to require Always Online for me to do single player Time Attacks. FM8 doesn't even let you access the garage in offline mode. so dumb. On the flip side I'm finally gonna get GT Sport because they finally made the game playable offline, I refused to buy it when it was always online. You see that Kunos? I can buy an old game and play it whenever now because it doesn't require an always online connection....ffs...

if you have a wheel then ac is really fun right now, and super cheap. ace will only be alright in multiplayer in months but i already bought it bc i know i'll get it

Handling is way better than assetto corsa but the thing is game is very heavy to run especially with ai. I don't have a top of the line pc just an r7 5700x and rx 7600 playing in 1080p and the game is running meeh so I'm sticking with assetto corsa playing no hesi.
Waiting for bugs to be worked out before I purchase I’m no longer investing in these companies anymore 🤨

Except Assetto Corsa is having issues of its' own too, like buggy AI, major graphical glitches, multiple online-only aspects, and banning of non-approved mods, so you may be waiting quite awhile.

I feel like the always online isent an iissue since then I play I am always connected to internet. I dont even have any hanheld to play this game outside of home so for me its not any problem. And most games nowadays is online.

Interior of the Emira I give it a 7/10 on sound they capture it well but still sounds a little too artificial the exterior is a absolutely 2/10 it sound horrible… I hear these things daily from the outside and the game does not accurately portray that

let's be honest, i would be expecting more bug fixing and at least some content in 2 weeks. i mean come on it's okay to be 2 weeks in early access but this is close to the lowest AC could be at, and i'll "prove" it. rewind to jan 15 :
- best case : we have an almost perfect sim, races against AI are decent they notice you on the track and fight a little bit, we have the license content and not that many performance issues
- worst case : the driving model is really outdated / bad / on par with forza motorsport, AI doesn't work at all, absolutely no content, bugs everywhere.
- most probable : the driving model is correct, AI is not the best, not the worst, the promised content is here but a little repetitive after 20h
-what we got : the driving model is good but not insane beyond the limits, the AI doesn't even drive correctly on the track (hi suzuka grass and bathurst walls !) and drives as if you weren't there most of the time. the only content is AI and hotlap, the promised licenses and car progression is absent, no save at all you can't even see your lap times (so hotlap is useless), out of the 20 cars, half are interesting (ie. emira and A110 are the same, no one drives the AF junior, m4/giullia/zr1 could have been a dedicated drift car, a high end rwd and an old muscle instead of that, ...), but it's all good because we can change the brake caliper's color, not that many game breaking glitches remaining after 2 weeks.

I get your perspective on Always Online, and while you highlighted that this is a single-player experience, we have to consider that it wasn’t actually designed as a single-player game-it just happens to be one right now…
The other side of the coin is that in the fight against cheaters, it’s essential to have a lot of things handled and calculated server-side, where, ideally, cheaters have zero access to tamper with it. So as long as they ensure that the single-player portion remains playable in the event of a studio shutdown or when support inevitably ends like 15 years down the line, they can do whatever they want for all I care.

Alpine’s retro hatch looks decent, but every time I remember its ev, whats the point, boring and characterless vehicles.
The hand speed on the steering wheel is way too fast.. movement is almost skipped.
