Kanji refers to more complicated characters (which often come from chinese) that can be written as romaji as well. Idioms usually use more kanji than the japanese normally use in daily life since some of the idioms also come from chinese (or similar at least). That's why people who can read kanji are often referred to as better-educated (the reason why Suga was so surprised that Tanaka can read the words on their tees lol)
The characters' name often give hints to their personalities. For Kiyoko-san, her full name can be written in four kanji characters. Her surname (Shimizu) means pure or clear water, and Kiyo- means clean (with -ko as a common name for girls like Saeko). The name itself is beautiful and that's might be why Tanaka and Noya just straight up print it on her tee.
Noya and Asahi have similar names with the opposite meaning. Azumane means eastern hill/peak, while Nishinoya means western valley. Asahi means sunrise, whereas the kanji for Yuu means sunset. This is a word play on their contrasting personalities and how they compliment each other, one could not exist without the other. This may only refer to their roles as ace and libero in the team, but I also like to think that their friendship works the same way.

Also, I'd say that Chinese is actually pretty easy because it's mostly memorization and certain patterns can give you hints to the meaning of words.
