Guys she literally almost died, she wrote head above water album to tell her story over the last six years. I think this album is a masterpiece no its not her "usual" sound but she also is 34 now not a teen. She deserves to sing how shes feeling at the moment, she has earned it. No one does music like Avril. I believe she mentioned heading back to a more rocker sound in her next project but this was something she needed to do.

People understand something: she is not anymore that teenager that she used to be. I grew up listening her incredible music, but it was 20 years ago. She now is a woman, she changed, she had a terrible disease, and now she is back and yep, for sure her music changed a lot, but she still giving us amazing music and lyrics. Singers always change, it is normal, just take a moment and see how Coldplay (e,g.) has changed in the last years, same with Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna. Change is normal in our society, that is not normal is to pretend that every single thing needs to be similar all the time.

He is not a narcissist but I lived this song when I was with him...they were ups and downs all the time, he treated me well and then he treated me badly, which made me cling to him when he gave me the slightest nice feeling and the crumbs that I disguised as love. Yes, she uses auto-tune now. But if a song isn't auto-tuned it now sounds out of place. I listened to a 2002 playlist and was shocked how out of tune a lot of the songs sounded. Our ears have been trained to only accept pitch-perfect singing.
