Not gonna lie, the “I’ll have your mom call my mom” and the excited “you wanna go hang out in the woods?” as you guys were walking away unexpectedly hit the feels
The whole video was just a lead up to the greatest thing ever... “I’ll have your mom call my mom” and excitedly saying “you wanna go hang out in the woods?”
As some who has played vintage baseball, if you are going to catch with your hands, you have to use the vintage baseballs, too. You get enough injuries with the old balls. I can't imagine trying with a modern ball.
A common kind of grass is used to cover the ground in places such as lawns and parks. Grass is usually the color green. That is because they are wind-pollinated rather than insect-pollinated, so they do not have to attract insects. Green is the best colour for photosynthesis. Grasslands such as savannah and prairie where grasses are dominant cover 40.5% of the land area of the Earth, except Greenland and Antarctica.[4] Grasses are monocotyledon herbaceous plants. They include the "grass" of the family Poaceae, which are called grass by ordinary people. This family is also called the Gramineae, and includes some of the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae).[5] These three families are not very closely related, though all of them belong to clades in the order Poales. They are similar adaptations to a similar life-style. With about 780 genera and about 12,000 species,[3] the Poaceae is the fifth-largest plant family. Only the Asteraceae, Orchidaceae, Fabaceae and Rubiaceae have more species.[6] The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others. Many grasses are short, but some grasses can grow tall, such as bamboo. Plants from the grass family can grow in many places and make grasslands, including areas which are very arid or cold. There are several other plants that look similar to grass and are referred to as such, but are not members of the grass family. These plants include rushes, reeds, papyrus and water chestnut. Seagrass is a monocot in the order Alismatales. Grasses are an important food for many animals, such as deer, buffalo, cattle, mice, grasshoppers, caterpillars and many other grazers. Unlike other plants, grasses grow from the bottom, so when animals eat grass they usually do not destroy the part that grows.[7] This is a part of why the plants are successful. Without grass, soil may wash away into rivers (erosion).
I'm laughing so hard, I have tears running down my face. I'll definitely have my mom call your guys' moms but I might have to skip the hanging out in the woods though.
1800’s: No gloves just hands (Painful to catch fly balls ) 1910’s “Babe ruth era: Hard to catch some balls and it’s a good ol fashioned glove 1900’s: Still the same kinda but it’s just hand shaped Today: Ez to catch 😎
Those 1800 catches on the fly are tough. In the vintage ball games I’ve played in using 1858 rules, runners have to go back to the base they started at if a ball is caught on the fly
The first mitt was used with your off hand and quickly covered up with your throwing hand to keep the ball in pocket, because that’s how they caught bare handed and also why they sacrificed their non throwing hand
I used my Grandpas old Glove a fake leather 1960 made in Japan Spalding thing at 11.5 inch that was very similar to a Louisville Slugger made in Philippines n the 2000's in the KHB 11.5 size in the Professional Series as a pressed leather and fake sheep wool for the glove style I got for $25--$30. The Louisville Sluger models in this series are still sold today though with a few minor tweaks to the models design of model I have with a ready pocket but virtually the same other then that and some years sold in tan and black then the gray and black I have. Reason I got my own glove was the Spalding had this pinky saver thing inside the glove I had to cut out but could not get rid of so this piece of fake leather would hit my pinky every time I caught a ball hurting the finger. It is not a bad glove the Spalding one but for most people the glove will work, just not how small my hands are.
That wasn't anticlimactic at all. It was climactic as hell. I friggin love you guys. Special shout-out to Henry Hotshot (and Chuck Chisholm the Chesapeake Bay Retriever).
That drove me crazy. Even as a kid in the 60's, we were taught to lay out the glove like a plate chest high, follow the ball down and slap the throwing hand on top as it landed. I would have easily caught every one of those today in my 60's. You may now say "OK Boomer."
the balls werent uniform back in the bare hand days though. they could vary wildly but most were not nearly as hard as the balls are today. though they could be even harder as they were essentially made from whatever was available
Another BANGER from WGI absolutely love y'alls videos keep up the amazing work!!🧊 Btw i loved the the 2016 world series celebration when y'all Fielded that grounder with the drunk goggles on it cracked me you every time!!!🤣🤣🤣

That might be the greatest walk off I've ever seen.

The fact that Nikki just accepted Claude Monet as a name for an 1800’s ballplayer is perfect

How can you not love Nicky Cass.
Absolutely loving the content you boys are putting out.
As a cricket player, I keep watching y'all catch barehanded (1800s) with one hand and wondering "why?"
same
literally same
Because they’re used to catching it with a glove.
Finally someone beat Jack in baseball-like activities
That was hilarious. So many good moments
the last "Is that a Chesapeake Bay Retriever?" sounds like Hank from King of the Hill 10:55
That’s the way the cookie
gotta get dalton for the wgi x love yas cross over to be complete!
“Hey Diane these guys are out here catching fly balls with their bare hands, and celebrating 3mph ground balls”
Jack: “Look at me in the eyes. Look at me when I’m talking to you.”
Lmaooo
loved the video, seemed like a lot of fun. i did not commit vehicular manslaughter in camden, new jersey on febuary 9th, 1982
Nicky Cass is my favorite human being
I love this guys Italian dad content
I spit when Jack says "I like this ball." And Nicky goes "No, it does."
Love the content. Keep it up! 😊 ⚾️
Jack always does something really good in every video and then proceeds to use 1 brain cell on the next play
Also 10:09 he used the slide technique
Chesapeake bay retriever is one of the birds of all time
Nicky bring it to another level the drunk goggles had me cracking up
1:17 that's so freacking funny !!
Cheers from Italy !
You guys should do baseball bat evolution next. From the SUPER thick handles in the 1800s to the modern baseball bats
“Hopefully we’re not going to be wearing drunk googles.”
Not even a second later:
“We’re going to be wearing drunk googles”😂
Jack got that Bo flow
The fact jack dropped it on the second round is crazy 💀💀 *1st WWWWWWW*

That ball flip at 10:30 tho; I knew batflips were a thing, but not ball flips lol.

No gloves.... like cricket today. It is harder than I expected but I also learned a bit about how cricketers approach it.

That cubs clip made me so nostalgic
You should have used the first glove the workman mitt. The lemon peel ball was the 1860's-1870's then you had the figure 8 ball right after that.
'wanna go hang out in the woods'

I will never forget 2016 for the Cubs

At 4:22 the bird is a Peregrine falcon and when you play baseball with gloves from 100 years ago you're supposed to use both hands.
