Love these “nose to the grindstone” sort of matchup videos. Feels like there’s a pretty big lack of X Deck vs Y Deck kind of content in the community. As for the decks themselves, does Sandy Shocks get any value in the Zard matchup? You mentioned multiple times about being hesitant to take the first prize as Bolt, but does it make any difference if you take that first prize with another one prizer? Does Zard have the respond gust often enough to where it doesn’t matter or does Dusk just come in to correct the trade?
Like the video, good content as alway from this channel. Don't you think you could keep you webcam on one side and the handles on the other side, so that it doesn't hide the remaining prize?
I think after Briar this matchup has become much more zard favored, before you could actually win if you waited just long enough to take the 2 first prizes as the ogerpon deck, but now with the briar zard wins the game with only 2 attacks
In game 4 you never danced with the Ogerpon that started in the active. Was there anything left in deck to help us after flipping talks on the Catcher?
Great video! I like going first against Zard because you can attach more energies this way, you can use Ogerpons Turn 1 and have an attack Turn 2 on Rotom/Lumineon, if they bench them, using Boss because you can attack without using Sada, what do you think about it? Bravery Charm on Bolt makes sense when it is your first Bolt, other than that you should Charm your Greninja.
Love this kind of content! As you said it seems like the Charizard never got enough time to setup the Briar play, have you considered playing the no-Rotom build (Tord-style) to get more setup time with single prizers?
I lost today at locals to a zard. I just could not set up my Bolt ex (whiffed nest balls) and the zard had hero's cape so my teal mask couldnt return KO. I was able to snipe a Pidgey with Baby Bolt turn 1 (I prefer it over Shocks). The awkward, clunky starts are tough sometimes. More to practice!
Also I did misplay a charm attachment to the Baby Bolt, so they were able to get 3 prizes popping the Dusknoir lol to close game. I'm still not 100% sold on Briar in Bolt but the threat is nice.
This matchup should be more significantly more favored to zard. One thing you didn't do often enough that will shift the matchup significantly is attacking with radzard during 4 prize by evolving into zardex and charge all 3 into radzard. This play should ideally happen every game because it is not exactly hard to do. Zard ex is also kinda hard to KO in this situation because it have either 0 or 1 energy so only Bolt can KO it.
@@daviddaritan trust me I was looking for that line but zard hands do get weird with all the options it’s forced to play, but equally I was trying to see how the zard could utilise the briar also: allowing the bolt to get to 2 was also part of my strategy to swing back 4 prizes: but as I mentioned in the video it was aligning very often

@@thescout2271 yeah because both of those options are open to zard the sandy really isn’t doing a lot let’s be honest

@@quentin.lannes I’ll have a play around with the layout, thanks for raising it!
I had that gripe for a minute, but then realized you can still see the remaining prize cards on the left, too :)

As a Zard player, I heartily endorse Bolt choosing to go first!! :)

Another solid video! thank you
wait did you play on both sides?
i did play both sides yep, playtesting!
Tbh if you are playing both sides, maybe switching povs to let us see the Zard line of thinking would be nice
